If you just use lightweight and do strict curls, it will only give you pump and not tear down the muscle which is what you want, so it will grow back with a few recovery days. This is a difficult exercise. If you do not use a perfect technique, it won't do anything for you. It is really hard to stay balanced and use just your biceps and not the back.

as barbell curls go, a narrow grip (less than shoulder width) works the outer bicep head, while a wide grip (greater than shoulder width) works the inner head. Shoulder width curls hit both heads equally well
yoU'RE correct, wide grip hits inner head; close grip hits outer...All bodybuilding books, including Arnold's, cnfirms this.
If you have shoulder impingement issues I'd recommend doing preachers with your elbows in close and conentrating on squeezing it up...you'll feel immense pressure n burn on the inner head, make certain to squeeze at the top for your peaks.

Wide Grip Bicep Curls work the overall head of the bicep. It is the best exercise to build mass for the biceps.
Concentration Curls work the outer head of the biceps.
Hammer Curls works the inner head of the biceps. Also works the forearms as well.
I double checked with the Arnold Encyclopedia because I think the guy knew something or two about building the biceps.
