In the days of Jim Crow fear kept Whites in line just as much as it kept Blacks in line, people forget the Klan and Citizens Councils held a vast amount of poltical and ecomonic power and they didn't target just blacks anyone who was white and seen as sympathetic to the Civil Rights Movement or Integration would also be targeted, if you were White and you saw Klansmen or any outsider coming into your town, you did whatever they wanted regardless of how you felt out of fear

To add to my previous comment, in towns and cities like New Orleans it was no secret in the White sections who was a Klan or Citizens Council member, and it was no secret what they would do to maintain segregation and their monopoly on political and economic power, especally since local and state police were all too whiling to turn a blind eye because many of the sherriffs and chiefs were Klan or Citizen Council themselves

I could not imagine going through what Ruby is going throuhg. Watching this movie makes me realize how mean people were back then. But she held her head up high and I'm so glad that she did because that's what gave other people courage even though her family was shunned by both sides they kept their heads held high. I pray to god that what ever Ruby went through no one will ever go through again and i hope people will be inspired by her and this movie to make good out of their lives here onEarth

my teacher is letting us watch this in english and i tried not to cry more than once. this is one of the best movies ive ever watched in my life. i love it. and i love people of ALL colors as long as there very nice inside there hearts. theres always good in everyone but sometimes they just dont want to show it or there just bad people that way. but I'll make friends with ANY kid whose nice i dont care what skin color they are of if they believe in god or not or if they have glasses or braces :)
