@GlaciusNLV i know how to maintain computers. i clean the ducts every 2 weeks. however overwhelming heat (poor thermal design) is like a slow poison and eventually kill off the components one by one. just like organ failure. the poison destroy each organ until it kills off the host completely.

It's a piece of shit. It got a lot of good reviews online but after buying the HP Elitebook 8730w I can assure you it's a lot of bull. I should have bought a MacBook Pro or a Lenovo for a similar price (my original gut feel). This review is true, it has they highest spec everything, but it's put together like shit. Nothing works properly because the BIOS is buggy. For a year I've had nothing but problems. I can't even put it to sleep or hibernate, and when I can then it won't wake up...

This computer is fantastic, this is the best of the series in my opinion, we have a workstation and a 17" model, and this 15.4 with the 2.66 is just right, not to big not to small just powerful enough with the ATI 3650 and its extremely cool running. But the extra cache on the Processor (6MB instead of 3MB give it smooth boost)

we also use the HDMI for presentations now

@computer100, it's understandable, it's a pretty boring and lame notebook for an Elitebook.

First, the cpu, I would expect Core i7. Second the connections, lack display port and whats with the modem RJ11?!?!. Third, no BD reader. Fourth, no intel SSD. Fifth, no 802.11n draft support and last but not least the video card it's mediocre at most. The only thing I can accept is the screen res. Not worth it. And don't give me the business crap. I wont spend extra $ for a dock and win7 pro

You can google for "hd 3650" and see the benchmark for yourself. It's a below average gaming card and if you want it just for 1080p its too power hungry. The video conversion using Avivo sucks in quality in comparison with nVidia CUDA. So this thing doesn't fall in any category where it can stand up. Therefore is a mediocre card.

BD is unnecesssary yet.

Core i7 came out after this model, 1 year ago it was state of art. Draft N , BD, and intel SSD are not part of this config, but there are avliable.

3650 is not the best, but at least wont overheat, and with gddr3 is better than (mobile) 9600gt.

i doubt it. the 9600m gt kills this. unless u talking of the 9600 gt ddr2 version. the gddr3 version is still better than the 3670 gddr3 version.

The 9600m gt is just a facelifted 8600m .

It is a bit better, but not much.

And neither of them are poweful enugh for modern games, but still decent emough for mass effect, dragon age, witcher, cod4....

If the gpu and buld quality also matters, mobile workstations are the only option, beacause the gamer notebooks have bad cooling system and build quality, glossy screen and features lots color leds and fingertip collecting palstics.

Two errors, firstly, DDR2 vs DDR3. Secondly, he says it charges from that smaller port at the bottom. That is false. It charges through the dock through the dock port only. That second port is for an extended life battery. I would not expect this from him, maybe Sam or Bauer. tisk tisk.
