Finally! I've been looking for this version for around 10 years. I've bought countless different versions never knowing the name of the correct mix. Cheers!
...REMINDS ME OF SWIMMING IN A DARK GREY BLUE SEA IN A GREEK ISLAND EARLY MORNING....SUNRISE.----PROB ONE OF THE BEST MIXED TUNES EVER.ULTIMATE CHIIL OUT!!
This track is of a time of the most bitter sweet memories reaching a peak in partying and starting to feel it..........talking with myself is probably very apt......
A classic from the best ever Cafe Del Mar album (5) - "I never was the one to believe in magic...magic...magic............" Summer 98 then 99 - happy days..... Jose Padilla is the DJ king............
@tomstickland - I didn't know there was a Beloved version until a year or so ago I think. I couldn't get it, but found a 2 min. sample. I'm not sure if you have it or are looking for it.
As a huge Beloved and Electribe fan back at the start of the 90s, I was really taken they did a remix. The sample's good dancefloor stuff. Although it is the vocal song, the mood is much more classic early, deep Balearic style Beloved house than Electribe. But they've stuck a mission impossible sample ... >
... which just doesn't work at all. It makes what might be nice to sit back and listen to into a track you'd appreciate for dancing to for those elements. Was it the drugs? The Mish Imp sample sounds like they were doing an imps mission. Mistake, and unfortunate as it shuffles along nicely otherwise.
There's the Canny 12" vocal which appears on the '98 re-issue of Electribal Memories LP - it might be that version, cos that's definitely more uptempo?
apart from blissfully reminding me of the beautiful hazy mornings outside the mar, this tune made me realise for the first time what loving someone really means, pure audio emotion at its best ...mwa2clx
Heard this first on "Chilled Euphoria" by Red Jerry. That CD and this particular song really opend my eyes to ambient music. It made me realize how much great music is out there that I myself are not aware of. Here in America we are never given a hint of great music like this by the mainstream media. You UK people are very lucky in that sense. Can anyone comment on Canny on what other remixes or original production work he/she may have done? Thanks.
Hi 1czelaya, I was Canny, many years ago... I'm glad you like the mix. Others include Beautiful (Mandalay), Talking With Myself (Electribe 101), Here's Where The Story Ends (Tin Tin Out), Shine (Space Brothers) and Without Love (Dina Carroll). Canny also had a club-track white-label called Take Me Up. Others include Panama Bazaar as Eighth Wave (on Cafe fel Mar 3 I think), Treat Infamy as Rest Assured, In the Moonlight as Astro, and an Astro remix Heart Of Asia (Watergate). Hope that helps.
Are you really Canny? I have Tin Tin Out "Where the story ends" on vinyl along with the limited 2x12 of Space Brothers "Shine" with all 8 remixes on Manifesto records.Either way, thank you for the information. It is greatly appreciated. In addition, did you use a Jupiter-8 or a Roland 303 on this track?
Hi, the guitar part is an alpha juno 2, the brass is a sample (from the original song), the little sound that answers the brass is a vintage keys with velocity mapped to filter, and the pads are a juno 106.
"you sure look tragic too" is Billie to infinity and beyond, I love her lyrics so much - tender and often stark but never ever beyond being self-aware and sardonic.
Another rare case of a remix that's better than the original. Simply amazing!

Actually no they're not, the pads are also alpha juno, but there's a juno 106 in the track somewhere for sure...
aljuk 3 years ago 2
@aljuk the tune is great, but I wondered if they credited 'Anxious- Saxample (1992)' for this mix, which it clearly owes a lot to.
Its on youtube, I suggest you all check it out.
