The crank shaft on that engine must be made of some very expensive material to take the punishment of 16 pistons.

In my opinion an engine that big is a waste and completely unesesary. you can make that amount of power with a 4,5,6,8,10,12 cylinder engines.

this is obviously an exotic engine but way to complicated and expensive. Plus it takes 4 turbo chargers to make its HP when any other engine takes 2.

u can make that amount of power from a small motor if it revs to 18000RPM and who wants to drive around town in that? Last time I checked there aren't any ferraris, lambos, porches, etc. putt'n out 1001HP.

have you ridden in a veyron? for example a w/e you do to a 2.2 2.4 w/e 16v 4cyl civic to get 1001 crank hp would make it a) loud b) scary as fcuk/unable to do 400kph... veyron 8l 64valve w16 which has 4 SMALL turbos(a 6cyl engine would need huge ass turbos that only increase power at higher rpms to make this power) would run at 160mph as comfortably as a normal car goin 30-40mph...

The bugatti Veyron engine can work with 4, 6, 8, 10 and 16 pistons if you need. If you slow ther car only uses 4 pistons with 50 HP.

at least a fiero has two more cylinders than a neon. i wouldnt really consider a neon a mopar either because i can almost guarentee it was built in japan just like the "chevy" geo metro, maybe your the won who doesnt know alot about cars.

Except for the reason that you can't keep a head gasket on one, and the performance sucks! Gm will never have the success that Volvo has with a 5 cyl.

Two pistons do share a crank pin... otherwise the crank would have to be far too long for the engine bay. Hardly a revolution in engine design, all V8's do...
