My husband was a firefighter for 29 years and ever year he would tell us about someone losing their homes due to fire because of a Christmas Tree fire. I had never been that close to one till 2 years ago when my neighbors home caught on fire at 4 am just a few days before Christmas. They lost everything and had 3 kids. Youngest was 4 then, how do you explain to a little one there will be no Santa this year. Thank God They all made it out alive. They Lost their dog and cat as well as there home.
@bubblybabs at least u know what savety is. and the big advantage. U don't need to go to store for a tree evey year xD and in an hour or 2 its all cleaned up xD hehe
@bubblybabs unfortunately fake trees are almost same......had experience from a friend of mine and video is remembering him what happened....with a fake trees...so be very carefull!!
Holy crap! did they dip that thing in pure octane b4 they did this? Still, Xmas is ruined cuz no one's getting their AK-47s with sniper scopes... and little Timmy's stuffed bunny rabbit is burnt to a sinder.
Because the light strand on your christmas tree might short out igniting the tree. I've seen light strands short out before. Luckily it was when we were testing it outside, a broken light bulb shorted the circuit which unfortunately did not contain a fuse. All that was left of the strand after it was stopped (eventually the breaker was tripped and cut power to half the house) was the light bulbs and wire. Anything plastic had melted off of it. That's why they protect them with fuses.
actually its to show how fast they catch fire and how fast the fire spreads... most often Christmas tree fires are started by electrical malfunctions with the lights on it

This is a bit fake because in real case christmas tree never starts burn from bottom and for fire is hard to get down. I have burned a lof of them (I worked in forest). And this was very dry indeed, but in the forest to set up fire anyway is best way to use christmas trees they are good even in winter when are a lot of snow :)
Are you an idiot??? "in real case christmas tree never starts burn from bottom"......really, you are stupid enough to believe that??? What a meathead...thats like saying " oh a car accident never happens like that, its impossible"
I get this is a controlled environment, but if it weren't , wouldn't the sprinklers kick on? I guess it's so fast it wouldn't help and the upstairs apartment neighbors would fall in on it.....this could just as easily be my menorah huh....
A lot of apts and houses are not sprinklered, especially old construction. Nowadays new code enforcement for apts are required to have sprinkler systems. Remember Smoke Detectors are EARLY detection to GET OUT and STAY OUT! Sprinklers will help SLOW the fire but may not put it all the way out, they are there to help protect you while you are getting out and way from the fire.
The music that plays in Spongebob when the Flying Dutchman comes out, that ominous scary music, would go perfectly at 0:16. It's like the gates of hell are opening up

I'm a child and i was sleeping on sunday and my mom had a fire in the fireplace and some smoke got near the smoke detecter and i woke up screaming. i was screaming what is that because it was fucking loud!!
those real trees really do go up fast...i think it's kind of ironic that you can send this video as a greeting card...who would do that? semd it to your friends/family who just lost a house to a tree fire?
It's actually children who don't hear a normal smoke alarm beep. I'll see if I can find the link. I believe it's on here (the video). Maybe you can type in "Children smoke alarms" to find it.
first off its most likely a staged set with a tree that wasnt watered for a week or 2. Also the odds of a tree fire are very slim. heres some facts about xmas tree fires . facts:Real Christmas trees are involved in less than one-tenth of one percent of residential fires and only when ignited by some external ignition sources.
In 1998 more than 32 million Real Christmas Trees were used in the U.S. Of these, only 0.00093% were ignited in home fires.
Well duh, obviously it is started from an external source. What kind of statement was that?! And believe it or not, there are people out there that are STUPID enough to not water their trees for that long. Try thinking before you speak. I am a Firefighter/EMT and I have seen these things happen. What are YOUR qualifications?
And keep in mind this was a tree that had been left unwatered for about 6 days to display a tree that was either cut incorrectly at the base or left unattended while the family went on vacation; however, had the tree been properly watered, perhaps the Ignition may have been delayed a bit or taken a few seconds longer to advance in the growth stage, but I don't think the results would be much different, once the tree caught. Perhaps a few seconds at the front. Artificial Trees For the win.
im curious as to how the fire started cuz it looked like it started at the base thing that holds the tree and i dont think theres anything that could cause a fire to start down there
A smoke detector will probably not save you from this type of fire. By the time you hear the alarm and respond you have almost no time to crawl (not stand and walk) out.
You can see that the floor level is already unsurvivable withing 30 seconds. It usually takes more than 10 seconds to crawl out of a house.
However smoke alarms are better than nothing at all.
What is in the box?

Milk, cookies and refined sugar either cause cancer or heart attacks. Chillout, who puts anything that flames up under the Christmas tree anyway?
Regardless, these people have about 42 dollars worth of furniture. The insurance will buy them newer WalMart crap anyway.

Less that 30 seconds and everything that was in the room is toast.
If you were in that room the super heated air would kill you on first breath.
You couldn't even fill a bucket of water in that time.
