@Ulikazu i thought it wasn't even as good as first gen ion
well you see, the asus n10jc has a stupid atom cpu which really limits graphic capabilities, so the video card on another laptop might be as well as the ion 2
i read that ion plays 1080p no stuttering which is something the n10j cannot do( i have one myself)
This has a better GPU than any $400 - $500 noetbook.
Those $400 - $500 notebooks are aimed at girls who want to use Facebook all day, this is a man's toy for men who like to play some light games while they go to work. There's a reason it costs nearly as much as a normal notebook.
@moneyrocks123 virtual drive. using power iso or something like that, tricks the game in believing you have the disc in your computer. alot of people do that when they dont pay for games, or if they dont want to keep switching discs every time they want to play a different game
@pufixas Net books are more expensive than laptops... I have a netbook, I use it for writing notes. Thats all they're good for. And of course trolling.
@pufixas no thats cheap. But does it run anything? Not anything but word. I am saying if you have a laptop and a netbook together with exactly the same specs. the laptop will be cheaper.
@goodatlinerider YOU ARE A FUCKIN MORON! everything u said was wrong its incredable that takes skill to be so wrong. the lenovo s12 has a nvidia ion 320gb hard drive 3g of ram hdmi and for 400 bucks and the closest comparable laptop is 500 and its got no vid card just a GMA.
can one online game run in this notebook thing?? because I dont have enough to buy a gaming laptop, so im just planning to buy this one coZ I need it for school anyway, but I want to equip it with the online game that i really really love playing.. can this notebook thing handle that game?
now, they have USB DVD ROM. Its already on sale in the market. it works just like the PC's DVD rom. just that its connected via USB. Speed wise is negligibly slower. But it still gets the job done.
2 things u can do to install it-u can either copy the files from another computer which cod is installed on, and put those files on a usb and then put the usb in ur netbook, or simply use an external dvd drive.
Budget Laptops & Netbooks suck when it comes to games. You're better off with a mid range desktop PC that would blow away either when it comes to graphics and performance.
These are good for only general use, viewing docs, MS office, surfing etc and for what you get, £500 is a total rip off.
It's neat, but I don't know how good these Netbooks are going to do. They seem ultimately fad-ish to me, something for the hipsters to show off over coffee at the local starbucks. But, as CDs and DVDs are still the prevalent new-media, a computer that lacks a disk reader won't survive in the market unless we start buying programs off of flashdrives or wireless internet becomes ubiquitous.
Actually, I go to the University of Texas & the students who don't own Macs almost ALL own a netbook! It's great because it's light & can handle casual gaming & anything on the internet!! It's actually a pretty good deal for students. Everyone now is carrying around their programs on memory sticks or thumbdrives anyway.
You are kind of right though. I don't think a netbook will be anyone's MAIN or ONLY computer. I think they're just for people who are on the go a lot. I think they'll do well!
wow i have same video cards on my laptop dv3550ee 13 inch 2.53 9300m gs 4gig ram

I upgraded the HDD, RAM and rebuilt the OS and the hardware is solid now... actually very good, as a shell Dell are ok.
sorry this may be a stupid question but if you did want to run cod4 on it, you would continuously need a external cd/dvd drive won't you unless you got a no cd hack?
he mentioned lowering the resolution to get better framerate. he's just saying it's still decent for such a netbook not that it's so playable, otherwise he wouldn't have suggested lowering the resolution. and before commenting watch the whole video. i don't care what u think anymore, i have stated my opinion on ur comment and have explained it too much already.
nice. i saw yesterday a laptop don't remember the brand tho but its huge and man it has 2 gfx cards, 1 gb each card. its insane :S, and its not alienware just in case :), can carry 3 hard drives, intel quad core @ 2.90 ghz each, windows vista ultimate, 4 gb of ram, could install 8 gb of ram etc etc etc :)
i've got an intel core i7 with each core clocked at 2.66GHZ, 6gb ddr3 ram, 750W silent gamer PSU, 1tb of storage and my lovely gtx295 wich is two gtx260's in one solution^^

jesus christ, playin somewhat "modern" 3d games on a netbook? Now I've seen everything....
Its not fair comparing this to the current generation netbooks tho like the EEEPC, Wind, Aspire One, etc cause im sure this one isnt gonna be out there for $300-400 for a while...
i was reluctant to buy this netbook because i didnt think 1.6ghz cpu with vista can play any games nowadays decently even with dedicated graphic memory, so i purchased a cheap netbook with integrated graphics and put gaming off my mind, guess i was wrong
Wow, even tho this is like the first gen of the gaming netbook, i know it could still run cod4 better than my 1.5 year old dell xps 410 desktop, lol! Just makes you wonder what the future holds for how much power you can cram into something so small - great vid btw!
The new Nvidia Ion Platform can play this game at about 55fps on a tiny Netbook but they are not out yet. The test I saw was one integrated with a weak Atom yet still almost 60 fps on COD4 on a netbook!
now manufactures for gpu's need to get onto the low power bandwagon, techniques they learn from low power will help them out on the bleeding edge. Lower power means lower heat output, less heat also means less power needed by the power supply. Now days for a high end gaming rig you need close to a 1k watt psu to power the bad boy.
well there were no 60 fps but 30 fps ...still very playable and very good...i hope to see an ion platform (ion is the name)with a via nano(better than one core atom) or a double core atom (atom 330).....that should be good !!!

jesus christ, playin somewhat "modern" 3d games on a netbook? Now I've seen everything....
Its not fair comparing this to the current generation netbooks tho like the EEEPC, Wind, Aspire One, etc cause im sure this one isnt gonna be out there for $300-400 for a while...

yep I was right... a little searching online and I found a preorder for $850 for this Asus N10... So its a netbook in name only, not in price.
Yet of course everyones gonna compare it to the $300 ones anyways... Go figure..

i was reluctant to buy this netbook because i didnt think 1.6ghz cpu with vista can play any games nowadays decently even with dedicated graphic memory, so i purchased a cheap netbook with integrated graphics and put gaming off my mind, guess i was wrong
