  • Such a glorious voice.

  • Paul Young has a great voice and the best arrangements. He really speaks to me.

  • good song a great singer

  • great song

  • iv heard all the others but i will be forever in love with this one paul just gives it an added something mmmmmmmmm

  • Paul can not sing as usual but he is sweet

  • <3

  • Classic Paul Young!

  • Great version of this song and a great movie,,,both 5 stars..RWB

  • love it.

  • love this song, love Paul Young, what a voice...

  • I remember hearing this version while watching the movie....thank you soooooo much for posting this!! it made my day

  • Great version, reminds me of love that was lost, but not forgotten

  • For all my life I have lived lonely without a love to enjoy mi life. This song is justly I feel all my life until now.

  • Young's version is great and makes it to #2. Joan Osborne & The Funk Brothers nail it. has never and will never be matched.

  • The best recordings of this song are by Jimmy Ruffin and Rod Stewart.

  • @arhuxtable Jimmy yes, Rod NO

  • Rod Stewart's recording is identical to Jimmy Ruffin's. One would think Ruffin's back-up band(the survivors) backed-up Stewart as well. LOL

  • I like this version and good movie Fried Green tomatoes.

  • The '90s were just a better time for music.

  • Well done and great movie,,RWB

  • What a great voice!

  • such a beautiful song....

  • didn't rellize paul done a version of this song, jimmi ruffin version is good but a mix of synth's and paul's voice just tops it,god bless the 80's synth's and sax............

  • paul has a fantastic voice

  • i havin hear this song along time is so great to hear it again an again :) thank

  • All respect to Ruffin and Young, but Joan and the Funk Brothers put this tune over the moon. There will never be an equal to that version. Ever.

  • Paul picked a winner that matches his style. I enjoyed it in the 60's when Jimmy Ruffin

sang it and again in the 80's thanks to Mr. Young.

  • @sc4433a The 80's is the greatest decade in the history of recorded music..........and fuck you.

  • this song means so much to me it is the song that remins me a dear friend of mine who meqans alot to me she passesaway23yrs and i miss her so much she is still like a family member to me more like a big sister to me i miss her so much i hurts she is one of the main reason of a dear freind love m$LL$on and miss you very very much doris

  • I absolutely love this song and I think you have put heart back into it .Best I've heard since Jimmy Ruffin

  • all three versions are good but this one is my fave.

  • What becomes of the broken hearted? I truly cannot answer that question. My heart's broken from a crazy marriage.

  • the standard. No one else can sing this song like Paul Young

  • It's a pretty good version but the original Motown version by Jimmy Ruffin (and the cover by the Supremes) still take the cake.

  • This is by far the best version of the song

  • 5 people are broken hearted

  • Jimmy Ruffin's version is good, but I think I like this one better.

  • People who think this is the best version of this song probably also think Simply Red made the best version of "If You Don't Know Me By Now". They're entitled to their opinion, but for me, there is no comparison. Paul Young is good, but he can't touch Jimmy Ruffin. And for God's sake, Mick Hucknall is no Teddy Pendergrass. He's excellent....but please.

  • @Skierchick1 HEH !

  • no matter whos version, this tears my heart out

  • I recognize Paul makes a cool, soulful, good version too! Rest in Peace!

  • 60's original Jimmy Ruffin version is FANTASTIC. This is good also though.

  • he took the soul out of this song and homo-nized it, what a waste

  • @kreed82 so correct, there is nothing in this song. Joan Osborn with the Funk Brothers is by far the best version, followed by Jimmy Ruffin.

  • @TheFalconracer This version is valid , "okay" but ...Yeah the Joan Osborne version tears my heart apart every time I hear it and brings tears to my eyes just from remembering hearing it . If a white guy could of hit this and made it really work surely Johnny Rivers would have .. but he didn't. So it stands Osborne and Ruffin way out in front.

  • This version just took me back when I was just a child growing up in the early 90's. I would remember seeing my mom dancing and singing to this while cooking dinner and my dad singing this song every family-kareoke night. Ahh...one of the many songs that made the 90's magical and unforgettable

  • jimmy ruffin's version is 100x better.... just sayin

  • This was the first song picked for the Bodyguard. Since it had been used for Fried Green tomatoes, they went looking for another song. The rest is history.

  • forever a Paul young fan makes me feel foever young xxxxx

  • I bought the film sound track just for this and still love it

  • great movie , great song.

  • Best version of this song I've found :D

  • I really love the version of Paul Young.

  • I like this version better than the original!

  • also love DIDI's version,,,;)

  • Beautiful - no one sings it better than Paul Young. Thank you for bringing memories back.

  • @1shea4 Really?Do you know the version by Dave Stewart and Colin Blunstone? Maybe a matter of taste, but much more sensitivity and thus convincing.

  • This version is beautiful. Paul Young always sings with such heartfelt emotion. Love him to pieces!!

  • Such an uplifting song, and movie!

  • I just read the book for a film studies class. It was one of the best books I ever read. Watching the movie was okay but compared to the book it was a piece of SHIT

  • Best version. And boy did Didi kill the song...

  • Boa melodia... namorados etc...podem acompanhar com muita curtição

  • beautiful old song..thank you...what will become of us..the brokenhearted? aahh..we'll just get stronger, what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger!

  • This music is amazing ! I love this music ! Good memories ! Thank you so much !!

  • Wow, this song takes me back to the 90's and seeing Fried Green Tomatoes. I love this version by Paul Young..such soul.

  • Love this version!

  • One of the best movies!!!

  • Great song, SUPERGREAT MOVIE!!!!!

  • Esta música do filme Tomates Verdes Fritos fcou sensacional. O filme também é maravilhoso!

  • my first real gf introduced me to Paul Young.. Depeche Mode a.s.o.

  • Enjoyed this movie along with this wonderful song.

  • This is the version I remember...

  • Great song, reminds me of being a 5 yr old in 1992,with my father.I never thought I would grow up,and here I am 22 yrs old.Such a happy song,Paul Young did fantastic.I think this is one of the few times where a cover is better than an original.

  • thank you

  • Note that this demo was first offered to and turned down by diva Whitney Houston. Her Bodyguard movie took a year later than planned, and Ms. Houston choose a cover of Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You instead.

  • actually they were still gonna do it but then Paul Ypung was on the charts with this song so they had to find an alternate song and the rest is history.

  • Thank God!! She would have blown it!

  • Why couldn't she do a cover of both? Why does it have to be one or the other?

  • The best version of this song

  • It is a good cover. I prefer Jimmy Ruffin's original though. I heard the song on the radio, but it was Ruffin's the only one I guess I ever heard before. It's not bad though.

  • ..those good ole 90's days!

  • yes they bring back the good ole memories.... thanks

  • Isn't there a video for this song? THis is the best cover.

  • @zerogatez verry good song

  • @zerogatez when ppl were happy and not miserable assholes!

  • "What becomes of the broken hearted who had love that's now departed?" I sure wish I knew the answer to that question, lol.

  • Honey I wish I knew. been lonely most my life.

  • they don't make music like this? what you mean ruin a perfectly brilliant original I guess!

  • why they don't make music like this any more

  • This is a beautiful remake of a one of a kind song originally done in 1966 by Jimmy Ruffin. I love both versions!

  • Paul Young does Motown better then they do.The best remake, and he"s so cute to boot.

  • Ive only heard this vesion but i didn't know there was another version ill probably check it out but i don't think itll be as good as this one

  • thanks so much .......awesome!!!!

  • Mesmerizing.,,,,,,,,,

  • This is the best version of the song for sure

  • Best version is the most popular 60s version sung by Jimmy Ruffin.

  • @davesharon1 They're both good in different ways. The Ruffin version is a bit 'top heavy' for me, most of the song is made up of higher instruments, while the bass and drums are a bit too constrained. It does have a larger sound though. The Paul Young version is a little more clean, and has a better low end. The Young version is my personal choice. He actually did a lot of great covers, like Oh Girl and Everytime You Go Away. He also had many great session musicians on board.

  • this is one of the best songs ever. The movie Fried Green Tomatoes goes perfectly with this song.

  • thx for this song been looking for it for the longest time

  • Thank you for this beautiful song, zim78234!

  • I love this song so much. thank you for posting this. I heard this song when i was growing up in the 90's. Now I am about to graduate in 09 and I love this song so much.

  • The BEST version!!!

  • @zebizonho

    That's laughable!

  • Fantastic to find this one!!! A real classic song. Thanks so much for posting!!!

  • thanks for adding!

  • THANK YOU !! I was looking for this song for years!

    Thanks.

  • You're welcome I hope you enjoy it as muck as I have, I also looked for it a while after it came out on the movie Fried Green Tomatoes it was only released on the soundtrack
