  • Love it! I remember looking at a TV Guide back in the day and seeing a MASK movie scheduled for 8pm. I'm like hell yeah! I had such a good rest of the day and set the VCR to record. I was so excited that I was gonna watch while it recorded too. Little did I know that I was about to record the Rocky Dennis story...I was disappointed, but I actually did watch...and like the movie. Ahhhh MASK....raising awareness on all issues.

  • pure 80s WIN.

  • M.A.S.K must turn to live action movie....maybe Brad Pitt or Leonardo Dicaprio will take the role of Matt Tracker....huhuhuhu

  • miss the 80 cartoon

  • Even as a child, I used to wonder about this theme music. What kind of idiotic civilians would risk their ass to get in the middle of an extremely dangerous battle to watch "the laser rays fire awaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!"? I'll stay at home, if it's all the same to you.

  • You can never judge these shows really IMHO. The problem is that when you're a kid, and watch these shows, they will leave a great impression on you, no matter how 1-dimensional the storylines may be. If you're older and watchin a show that's actually better, it will simply not give you that feeling of that show you watched as a kid. That's why pretty much all people prefer shows of their youth..

  • *Sigh* .. *mourns our lost past*

  • LOL The Robot Chicken version of this is hilarious!

  • GULLWING DOORS!

  • These aren't mask their helmets.

  • @niceguy60 a mask is a mask man, no need to question things

  • @ThunderX19 Dude it was a joke. I made a reference to a robot chicken parody of mask

  • @niceguy60 i know, i was joking with you haha

  • thumbs up if you wanted to join M.A.S.K. if it was real

  • This era also spawned the best toys in toy history.

  • damn, I miss my childhood. This was one of my favorite ones

  • Those...are helmets. Not masks.

  • Made of awesome!

  • animation is a dying art

  • A guy named Miles Mayhem running an organization called V.E.N.O.M. ...

How could anybody expect bad guys ;p ???

  • toda la magia de los 80, todas las ganas de que una generacion futura tenga tecnologia a sus pies........estos dibujos son lo maximo.......ahora sin palabras..........!!!

  • I like this song!!!!

  • who did mask workd for. they weren't government

  • @78legion they worked for Spectrum.

  • I still want me a Condor Heli-Bike and I'm too old to be playing with toys :P

  • YESSSSS! I loved this as a kid! Kinda still do! MA MA MA MA MASK! Their Cobra was called VENOM.

  • So do they sell the gasoline to themselves?

  • I loved that show, but like all fans form back then, you always wanted to punch that stupid kid in the mouth.

  • strangely enough i would like to see this cartoon turned into a movie... but deep in side of me i know they will fuck it up.

  • @thedevilcancry I understand. On paper turning it into a movie would be easy and within a reasonable budget. The cars and the merch would sell itself with the movie being the engine to do so. But expect the bigwigs to screw around with it and deviate from the big picture.

  • @newagepun i agree with you. if the hollywood big shots have a go at it and and screw around with it, it will make a lot of fans unhappy. icons of the cartoon like the Rino truck and the tunderhawk should be kept like the cartoon... but look at the transformers my hopes are low

  • Weren't these shows created for the sole purpose of selling merchandise?

I'm not knocking the show, I used to love it and yes, I had the red car & the green helicopter bike, but it does seem like the show was simply a long series of ads for toys etc...

  • @Jarren202 that's all it was, yeah. Which is why I find their spirited defense so mystifying. "Boy, I sure do feel sorry for kids, not having cartoons like we had back then." Why, exactly?

  • @DenOfVipers I guess it all boils down to people putting rose tinted glasses on.

One of my favourite shows as a kid was The Moomins, and there was no merchandise available for it at the time.

Ironically, now it's a cult show, you CAN buy merchanise. How about a small cup for $30? :O

  • @Jarren202 It's nostalgia-vision, pretty much. They remember this stuff fondly because they remember it at all. And that's not exactly fair, sane, or rational.

You know what did hold up pretty well, upon revisiting? Peter Pan and the Pirates.

  • @Jarren202 Yes, it's shameless merchandise driven storylines; but even back then, if you go read the cards there is a LOT of backstory shows like Sponge Bob, Powerpuff girls or Magical Godfathers DONT have.

They had to hold back a lot because of censorship, true; but the villains and heroes are compelling. SURE, they are silly because they are for children; but they allowed us to daydream on complex moral situations and the conflict is real if shallow. they are cartoons for god's sake.

  • @Jarren202 Like, if you still have them; go read those cards; Miles and Matt were once friends; and while the General wanted to use the MASK technology for weapons, Matt instead focused on the beneficial for mankind applications; and that's why they split apart and became enemies.

Or how COBRA is, even in the cartoon, a terrorist organization that required the formation of an elite counterstrike group: GI JOE. The toys even mentioned they smuggled weapons and drugs and conducted kidnappings.

  • @Jarren202 much of the 80's was like that. But the concept was still so cool and there was some depth and backstory to a cartoon driven advertisement for toy merch. Compared to now where it isn't even merch driven but completely shallow production with little or no backstory.

  • evry thing I saw in this cartoom Itis true now

  • I always loved this show as a kid. Even now the animation quality in this show was far better than in most kids shows back then.

  • 1984-1989 The ERA of the best cartoons Period!!!!!!!

  • @collguyjoe99 1984-1989 is also the range my favorite sports car was made. :D

  • @collguyjoe99 i have to disagree a bit there son :) there were better cartoons BEFORE 1984 like blackstar and heman, i,d say that the best era was 1981-1999 for the later generation :)

  • @FishlipsMalone

I was 3 in 1984, so Transformers was the first thing I saw and thus it Still stays with me today... Explains why I dropped $500 the past month in Vintage G1 Figures

  • @collguyjoe99

I prefer the 1990s, honestly. By that time cartoons have grown out of purely being toy commercials and the makers start to put in more plot and proper characterization. And better animations of course. The 1990s gave us Batman: The Animated Series, Gargoyles, Mighty Max, Beast Wars and Reboot, among others. Some of these like Batman and Gargoyles receive many more critical acclaim than any '80s cartoon.

  • @collguyjoe99

I would say from 1980 to 1995 is the best era. But that's my opinion.

  • Fuck... I miss my childhood.

  • I would love to see a movie of this cartoon

  • I had the red Camaro. I can't believe I never broke the folding doors or wheels cause I flew that bitch all around the house.

  • Its grandfathers of power rangers :D

  • @xGATSUUGAx : X-OR "Uchū Keiji Gyaban" with Sonny Chiba's "Little Beetle" Kenji Oba, in facts! ;-)

  • I'm 27 years old and I downloaded all episodes just to watch MASK again!

  • I don't completely remember this show. But I deffinately remember really liking it when I was a wee kid. and playing with the toys. Now that I see this. The music was REALLY GAY!

  • If this becomes a movie

  • @chrissinewman problem is they would make it liek transformers and fill it with too much CGI.

  • I remember the first episode i ever saw of the cartoon.

I was only 7, and i always expected that big truck to

transform into an Optimus Prime-like robot

  • i feel sorry for the kids nowadays they have to watch crappy cartoons we from the 80's had a great time with the best cartoons ever made

  • @321gotu 1980-2002 Best years for Cartoons XD

  • @321gotu shut up, you retard. I'm sick of everyone who thinks like this.

  • @321gotu

I completely agree, you'd have expected cartoons to get better, but they haven't. Cartoons today are just poor quality for the most part. Low quality art, crude humor, whining and shouting, lousy cartoons. Except a few.

  • @yojoeturner Cartoon in the 80s weren't all that much better. Rosy colored nostalgia glasses are the main reason we look back fondly on 80s cartoons, otherwise...a lot of them just plain sucked. Cool theme songs aside, of course.

  • @brinpol Watch a few episodes of Ulysses 31 and see what you think. Still fucking excellent.

  • @83WC Fucking excellent is over-stating it. YMMV.

  • @brinpol I've recently collected the entire gi joe run and it holds up well. Transformers and he-man are good too. But even if the wriing on some 80's shows may not be as great as we remembered, the actual quality of the art is a hundred times better than the junk thrown on tv today. Ed, ed, and eddie, spongebob, adventure time, and the others are just poorly drawn.

  • @yojoeturner Transformers and GI JOE are extremely inconsistent as far as the animation goes. He-Man was just ghetto. Nice designs, but the animation itself was just sub-par. The stories themselves are inconsistent, some are really good, some others seem to have written by a 5-year old. As for todays cartoons not being drawn well, the DC stuff and new Thundercats disproves your theory. Again, YMMV.

  • @321gotu fuck yea! such amazing cartoons back then...now we have teletubbies lol

  • @321gotu Nah, kids today have it better. They have all the cartoons from the 80s and 90s on DVD, as well as some of the good stuff from today. And Batman: The Animated Series and all it's spin-off were awesome. Hell, Justice League Unlimited beats just about anything from the 80s.

  • @brinpol Definitely. Unlike a lot of 80s stuff, Justice League didn't bombard the viewer with ham-handed morals, or assume they might be an imbecile just because they're a kid.

  • @TheWorstWarlock Neither did Battle of the Planets, Voltron or Robotech. Also quite rare since it stayed in Japan, but check out Zambot 3 (subbed) which was piloted by three kids. The aliens would implant bombs in the human civilian's chests who some were also the heroes family members without them knowing!

  • @Devilbat74 Battle of the Planets was definitely cool. I know of Voltron, but they never showed it here. I'll check out Zambot.

A bizarre, but great 80s kids show was Terrahawks. A lot of people my age say they had nightmares because of that show.

  • @321gotu hahahahahaha! It's funny because *every* era says exactly the same stupid thing. MASK was good enough, but it's not somehow magically better just because it's old.

  • @Townsvilletale That's true for EVERYTHING on Youtube, have you noticed? Music, cartoons, movies...it was all "better back then", and everyone feels sorry for what the poor kids today have to endure...

  • @brinpol maybe so but in terms of American made cartoons nowadays there arent too many original (non comic originated) shows that have a mature setting or art style.

  • @Townsvilletale true. I always thought the show got significantly better after a while, with better stories and character development. Naturally, when that happens shows get cancelled. Can't have content in cartoons and shit.

  • La cancion como se llama en ingles es de la putamadre osea excelente

  • it says from 85-86 im 26 and i was watching it in 94 haha how long were the re-plays on for hah

  • This should have been made into a movie

  • @zmallic A Mask live action movie would be awsome and Jayce and the wheeled warriors.Cartoons were so good in the 70's and 80's they dont make them that good anymore.

  • @Terencewen85 thank you I feel less old now.

(I"m 10 years older than you are.)

  • what i love is at the 30 second mark all the vehicals are on screen . it screams buy us all kids!

  • I wish a MASK movie was made, a bit dark and more adult-orientated, not just a cheesy blockbuster flick for kids. It should be set in the 80's like the series and stay as true to the original toys/series as possible, using modern special effects to make a realistic live action re-creation of the cartoon . . . but with a much better plot of course, and possibly even set against a backdrop of world events at the time, like the end of the Cold War of something.

  • those of days of cartoon :)

    nice and memorable :)

  • Ah nostalgia...

  • Recently Hasbro did a promotional comic called"UNIT-E" at the NYCC. It tried to tie together "re-imaginings" of Jem, MASK, Inhumanoids, Action Man, Stretch Armstrong, Candyland and Battleship"

M.A.S.K. got "re-imagined" as Trakker being a US Marshall leading a "road warrior" like band of crusaders in a post apocalyptic scenario. It was bullshit.

  • Thumbs up if you think the show would have been a lot better without that Gog damn Scott Trakker and T-Bob.

Also, who wants re-issues of the original toys? I loved that 57 Chevy

  • I remember thinking that MASK was made simply to sell toys to kids when I was 5

  • @thimble288 Ill let you in on a little secret. Almost EVERY cartoon ever made in the 80s was created to sell toys.

Not all, like Real Ghostbusters and Galaxy Rangers, who had toys but AFTER the fact.

Merchandising was also precisely WHY we got little "Moral lessons" at the end of many toy based shows. To make it look like they WEREN'T simply grabs for cash.

That doesnt mean the shows werent enjoyable. But the fact remains that they were never created simply to tell stories

  • this was the baddest ass cartoon ever made.

  • This was a damn good cartoon in it's day.

    What an era for cartoons!

  • THIS WAS MY SHIT!! LOVE THE CARS. damn I miss the 80s we kids now adults have one of the best cartoons ever created.

  • Just got my box set yesterday for Christmas.

  • "spectrum's got such suuu-per vision!".....man that's my part!

  • there are no good cartons for underteens today

  • this theme song is just unbelievably great (working overtime/fighting crime!)

    Damn.

  • I played with my cars when i was little and i tried to open their doors like the red mask car...the wouldnt.........

  • @Terencewen85 Iercently boughtthe DVD's too and thoroughly enjoying them right now

  • Awesome show, made even more awesome by it's folding into the GI Joe universe. Mile Mayhem, Agent of Cobra!

  • one of the best cantroon intros ever !!

  • Why did the helicopter turn into a jet at 00:34?

  • @TheKevin546 the jet moed was Switchblade's primary attack mode

  • Comment removed

  • @pyrogyra72 Yeah, we wouldnt want Micheal Bay bringing M.A.S.K. to a greater pubic awareness and a wider audience who might not be as familiar with M.A.S.K. the way he did with TF.

Bitch all you want about him, but if he was really that bad he wouldnt have been hired to do not just one but TWO more sequels. The last of which being the 4th or 5th highest grossing film of all time.

Apparently someone who counts and isnt blinded by nostalgia goggles thinks hes doing something right.

  • @Terencewen85 you're not alone, bud. ;)

  • George Clooney would make an awsome Matt Tracker and Brian Cox as Venoms leader.

  • @EuromanMovieReport No Clooney would be awful as Matt Trakker , he looks nothing like him and no to Brian Cox, he's far too short to make a convincing Miles Mayhem.

Stacy Keach on the other hand is a dead ringer for Miles Mayhem, and tall enough to play him.

  • Of all the 80s cartoons... MASK & Transformers have the coolest toys.

  • m-m-m-mask, MASK!

  • A lot of stuff I missed out on.

  • You gotta love the idea as a kid that your dad has the same job as one of the mask agents ;-) great concept strategy

  • THEY'RE WORKING OVERTIME?!?! Man..

  • Best intro EVER!

  • goosebumps...i totally forgot this one...wow

  • I loved this show when I was younger. Seeing this makes me want the show to be put back on TV. Anyone know where you can watch the episodes?

  • @mherbison531 I recently found a DVD boxset of them on Amazon I have ordered them but haven't received it as yet check it out if you're interested

  • I remember getting Julio Lopez and Floyd Malloy for my birthday back in like 1985

  • this should put up as a live action film..

  • they should of raced the de lorean back to the future vs thunderhawk

  • love thunderhawk the red camaro im gonna try and build a replica but the thing is i wont be able to make it fly lol

  • the president of brasil in the 80s looked just like the villain of this cartoon in brasil everybody called that guy sarney. hahahha fun fact about brasil guys.

  • Love the song. But i hate the last part of it. Dont like that they sing "venoms trail" and venom comes and "see the laserray" and they shot lasers. "Fly away" and the bike fly away. Many 80s cartoon have that i it is bad. But i love the shows!

  • Recently homaged by the theme for Chikara's High Noon iPPV.

  • M.A.S.K. is what happens when you combine Star Wars (the Mask at 0:17 is a damn Imperial Scout Trooper helmet, robot at 0:22 looks like R2D2 ) with Transformers (Transforming vehicles!) and G.I. Joe (The villains look suspiciously like Cobra).

But when I was a kid, I didn't give a damn. I still watched the show and loved the toys. :P

  • @misterk81 The villains looks suspiciously like Cobra? Well, they are called V.E.N.O.M. after all :)

  • AWESOME !!! MY FAVOURITE CARTOON

  • Original Languages: Canadian English & French Canadian. Says BCDB.

  • Maybe I'm blind but I honestly don't see the difference between 480p and 720p on this video :P

  • idesofmars you got that right man i miss the 80's. If i had the money to start a channel on cable tv i would start one the just ran cartoons from the 80's 24 hours a day 365 days year. this one would be on it.

  • Good ol' days & cartoons..

  • do they know command doent start with a k

  • This is good but season 2 of transformers is the best

  • best intro ever they realy need to make a M.A.S.K movie

    that be awesome

  • @evildeadash3 They'd mess it up bad. It would be nothing like what you hold dear to memory. They'd probably get Micheal Bay to work on it, trying to sell it to the new generation. God forbid of course.

  • Looks like Mr. Belvedere at 32 seconds.

  • As a kid I always recognized that lead red car as a Z28 Camaro hehe

  • there is no HD ;3 <3

  • don't they know kommand's not spelled with a k

  • This was the Rotech episode. The music was so great and syfi thuout the show. I loved this cartoon and characters. Awesome!

  • Awesome cartoon & amazing intro!! 80's cartoons were the shit & don't let anyone tell you otherwise!!!

  • Fml these guys getting overtime for fighting crime fighting crime and i can't get 40 hours at my job. I'm in the wrong business smh

  • Amazing! This has zero dislikes! This just shows how badass 80's tv was!

  • Great Show, is too bad that they have to pay millions if they want the kid actor to deliver....wait...Justin Bieber is going to be the annoying kid, nm . Thumbs up on this Video

  • Born in '83 and I count myself lucky to have lived in a time when cartoons were of a higher standard.

  • Your a true 80's child if you still remember all the lyrics to the opening theme

  • You guys have no idea how much trouble I got into with my TaeKwonDo instructor when the original mini-series aired. I skipped a week's worth of classes because it aired at the same time.

  • Why is it that almost every 70s and 80s cartoon has that one kid team member with no powers and/or a robot side kick with no powers either?

  • Always Riding Hot On V.E.N.O.M.'s Trail! Come See The Laser Rays!

    FIRE! AAAWWWWAAAAYYYYY!!!!!!!!!

  • I used to think Tracker bars where named after Matt Trakker. I STILL DO!

  • R2D2 turns into a moped

  • i know what lies behind the maskerade :)

  • I wonder if the good guys had to get new day jobs frequently sinced they always had to walk out them for no reason apparently.

  • 80s cartoons were the shit. we were so lucky to grow up with shows like this

  • One minute for the best cartoon opening!

  • M-m-m-Mask!!!.. is the mighty power that can save the daaay!!

  • Classic. 80's Hair Music and animation go hand in hand. Swear to god, I'm gonna play this every time before I Blast off from a red light.

  • a really creat cartoon!!!!! though now while wathcing I understand many thing there... a bit absurd and totally wrong... but I still love it!!! *___*

  • I Love M.A.S.K., Dungeons & Dragons, Thundercats, Transformers, Mazinger z, And many more of the greatest all the time cartoons. TAL 4 put this on line.

  • i nominate this for the "Best cartoon intro of all time, and best cartoon intro song." Put your fucking thumbs up if you agree.

  • @VanillaFejz i dunno the original Tranformers had a damn good intro too. that tune always stuck in my head. gr8 times gr8 cartoons...

  • @VanillaFejz it comes close! i must agree! BUT!

there is alwats king arthur and the knights of justice. and the swatcats. to be the best you NEED a rock guitar solo :P, at least for a 90's cartoon XD

  • @VanillaFejz Oh fuck yes! These toys were a STEAL! Look, you got TWO vehicles in one with wicked names like The Gator AND it came with an ACTION FIGURE! Not to mention, it gets even BETTER: Stickers. Oh dude, remember? They let you put 'em on yourself. It wasn't all painted on and shit like today's crap. No, you could customize your ride yourself. :D All that for like what, 10 bucks? If that. It was the same price, maybe a little more for like Sgt. Slaughter and his ONE GI Joe tank. No 2-for-1.

  • @VanillaFejz Double thumbs up from me!!!

  • MASK Movie Pls!! And release of the toys :) I have the van toy..

  • i had toy of these, omg lol

  • Wow, over 100k views and no dislikes. :)

  • How long till this becomes a movie?

  • Some of the best toys ever!

  • Condor, Jackhammer, Manta, Firecracker, Gator, Rhino and Piranha were my favorite... that's a lot of favorites. Guess I loved them all.

  • Would love to find a good quality copy of this recording - hell, I'd even pay for it!

  • This show was definitely a highlight of my childhood, and I wasn't even born in the 80s!
