Wait hold on a minute...Don't talk about BISHOP BLAKE...I don't know what church you come from but here in the COGIC we do not function by Charisma - we are a Holiness Church. The anointing of the Holy Ghost is what moves our people - and Bishop Blake is the most anointed in our fellowship. You do not have near 30,000 members for nothing! Blake is intelligent, business wise, and very organized - he brings elements to the job that have not been present for a long time. God Bless Bishop Blake

To some of the comments further down, In my opinion ( I'm Baptist), denominations are a work of the devil. You mention what denomination you are and people have to almost always say something negative. If you are a true born-again Christian, your denomination shouldn't be an excuse to cut down other denominations or people because in the end it doesn't matter what denomination you are. What matters is if you are saved and baptized in the name of Jesus and that your heart is right with God
A baptist would say that CRAP! Look, denominations should not be the focus of your salvation, however, they do mean alot in regards to your faith and how you believe. It is wrong to condemn any people, but it is right to join a fellowship that aligns itself with your beliefs and faith in Christ...it is ignorant and irresponsible to assume that all Christian could or do have a universal doctrine or belief system in Christ - NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! first of all let me say that Bishop Morton preached, but the only problem i have i that a part of this clip offended me. Know denminations are man made but to say that he had to tell the baptist church to get fill with the holy spirirt is pushing it. Ive been baptist all my life and in the church i grew up in my Father who is the pastor taught and preached about being filled with the holy spirit. Every baptist church isnt cold and reject the gifts of tongues. We serve the God as Cogic.
So is he still the Biship of the Church of God in Christ, or has he went to the baptist church? When he said it in his message I wasn't sure if he was speaking of a current change or not.
He left the COGIC church to pastor a baptist church within the National Baptist Convention. He then decided that he wanted to incorporate some of his teachings from the COGIC such as tongues, etc and then went on from there to found the Full Gospel Baptist Church.
Bishop Morton has endured a nervous breakdown, colon cancer, his grandchild died at age 18 months, and he lost his home and church as a result of Hurricane Katrina...yet he is still standing by the grace of God. I believe his preaching style reflects what he has been through. That's why I can't judge him or anyone else for how they get their praise on...I haven't walked in their shoes...listen to what he says at the 2:45 mark. As for .IV. Hilliard's reaction...it is what it is.
Well, I don't know if Bishop Hilliard was feeling it or not; I know he was smiling at the end. That's why you can't gauge or measure the Word by the looks on people's faces. You have to measure it against the Word of God and the Spirit of God. To be honest, with you I was excited that Bishop was so excited about the message, but I need to hear the content of his teaching [II Kings 6 is what it sounded like he was referring to]. I have been in the baptist church all of my life and the same God that dwells in the COGIC and Pentecostal is also in the baptist. It is truly aggravating to see the how people get caught up in denominations. What it all boils down to is that you have to be born again and most importantly live right. I.V. came with Bishop Jakes last year at the 101st COGIC Holy Convocation in Memphis. Bishop Jakes preached the house down. All the preachers were on their feet except I.V. I don't know what the deal is with them. Sometimes when you accumulate so much wealth and prosperity, you lose your fire!!!! Paul Morton is a very powerful preacher. I thank God for his testimony and his annointing. As a baptist minister I must say that it is grieving to know that people are still taking blows at the baptist church. For years people have placed a black mark on the baptist church as if to say we are the blacksheep of the bunch. But we must all know that there are heathens in all denominations and saints in all denominations. Bishop is still annointed non the less.

For years, baptist folk did not accept holiness as a LIFESTYLE. They called us cogic & apostolic folk crazy and holy rollers but they came to our evening services to experience that power Bishop was speaking of. Things have began to change but just because someone speaks the truth does not mean they are bashing or putting a black mark on anythng.
I mean I can concur to a certain degree. I mean to this day I have friends who make remarks about us baptists. Ex. A baptist minister here got caught up in some stuff and one of my friends said "well you know how ya'll baptists are". And my thing is riff raf goes on in all denominations it's just that some do a better job of keeping it hush hush than others. I've known cogic pastors to make babies in the church and then them and their bishops work to keep it from making widespread attention
I mean I think we all (us baptists included) need to do a better job of keeping the main thing the main thing and learn to love and respect one another even if we don't agree on everything. I mean we all can agree that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that His blood gives us all a chance to be presented faultess before the Father.
I agree that all denominations have issues but regarding differences in doctrine, baptists have had a difficult time accepting the principles of a holiness lifestyle. That's a fact. We can agree that Jesus is the Son of God. That's a given in mainline christian denominations. The operation and importance of the Holy Spirit is the issue. That is why Paul Morton had to branch out and start FGBF bcuz he was ostracized. He is not even recognized as a bishop at the baptist headquarters in TN.
Baptists have not had an issue with the principles of a holiness lifestyle; the bible says we must live holy. Baptists had an issue with what some call holy. Long dresses, no makeup, not going to the movies, wearing head coverings, and not wearing pants does not mean you are holy. It means you have mastered the appearance of holiness. You can do all the above named things and still be hell bound. Some traditional pentecostal denominations have made a big deal out of those things and we do not.
As far as the Holy Ghost is concerned we believe in that too.I think too many generalizations have been made and people have put marks on whole denominations based on what those they have come in contact with say they believe. I know baptists who believed in the infilling of the Holy Ghost way before Paul Morton started teaching on it. At the end of the day none of us know everything nor do we have all the answers.
Some denominations have tried to make it seem like you are on your way to hell if you go to the movies or if you wear pants,or if you had any fun whatsoever that was not church related. Us baptists just came along and taught that those beliefs were not biblical. But we do believe as a whole that you must live right its just that those who don't have caused others to stereotype our whole denomination.
It is not biblical to be seperated from the world and the things thereof? Please show me. If that is the case, why are so many baptist folk running to Full Gospel(which is really cogic if you look at its beliefs and hierarchy system/tiers of leadership)? You can call it what you want but folks need power. Fasting & praying brings about power. Try a shut in prayer meeting. Tarrying for the Holy Ghost. Seminary training can't give you that power.
I will say this and i'm done because I can tell that this is about to be an unfruitful dialogue. When the bible says be seperated from the world it is speaking of the world's system and way of thinking such as saying it's ok to do things that God says is wrong. It does not mean you can't enjoy a good movie or enjoy things that are not church related. And as far as the ex-baptists that left to go to other denominations I can assure you we are not losing sleep over it.

I never said I was upset you assumed that. Secondly, I didn't leave the COGIC to go baptist to live any kind of way. Wait hold on a minute...Don't talk about BISHOP BLAKE...I don't know what church you come from but here in the COGIC we do not function by Charisma - we are a Holiness Church. The anointing of the Holy Ghost is what moves our people - and Bishop Blake is the most anointed in our fellowship. You do not have near 30,000 members for nothing! Blake is intelligent, business wise, and very organized - he brings elements to the job that have not been present for a long time. God Bless Bishop Blake

To some of the comments further down, In my opinion ( I'm Baptist), denominations are a work of the devil. You mention what denomination you are and people have to almost always say something negative. If you are a true born-again Christian, your denomination shouldn't be an excuse to cut down other denominations or people because in the end it doesn't matter what denomination you are. What matters is if you are saved and baptized in the name of Jesus and that your heart is right with God

A baptist would say that CRAP! Look, denominations should not be the focus of your salvation, however, they do mean alot in regards to your faith and how you believe. It is wrong to condemn any people, but it is right to join a fellowship that aligns itself with your beliefs and faith in Christ...it is ignorant and irresponsible to assume that all Christian could or do have a universal doctrine or belief system in Christ - NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! I say that the denomination is a work of the devil because we get caught up in the name and we lose our focus with God. we talk about other denominations, etc. Holiness is the way, but if we can't get out of the negative mindset then what's the point? first of all let me say that Bishop Morton preached, but the only problem i have i that a part of this clip offended me. Know denminations are man made but to say that he had to tell the baptist church to get fill with the holy spirirt is pushing it. Ive been baptist all my life and in the church i grew up in my Father who is the pastor taught and preached about being filled with the holy spirit. Every baptist church isnt cold and reject the gifts of tongues. We serve the God as Cogic.

He left the COGIC church to pastor a baptist church within the National Baptist Convention. He then decided that he wanted to incorporate some of his teachings from the COGIC such as tongues, etc and then went on from there to found the Full Gospel Baptist Church.

Bishop Morton has endured a nervous breakdown, colon cancer, his grandchild died at age 18 months, and he lost his home and church as a result of Hurricane Katrina...yet he is still standing by the grace of God. I believe his preaching style reflects what he has been through. That's why I can't judge him or anyone else for how they get their praise on...I haven't walked in their shoes...listen to what he says at the 2:45 mark. As for .IV. Hilliard's reaction...it is what it is.

You have to measure it against the Word of God and the Spirit of God. It is truly aggravating to see the how people get caught up in denominations. What it all boils down to is that you have to be born again and most importantly live right. I.V. came with Bishop Jakes last year at the 101st COGIC Holy Convocation in Memphis. Bishop Jakes preached the house down. All the preachers were on their feet except I.V. I don't know what the deal is with them. Sometimes when you accumulate so much wealth and prosperity, you lose your fire!!!! I know soe ppl say don't judge a person by their expressions but if it is in you, it will come out.

Paul Morton is a very powerful preacher. I thank God for his testimony and his annointing. As a baptist minister I must say that it is grieving to know that people are still taking blows at the baptist church. For years people have placed a black mark on the baptist church as if to say we are the blacksheep of the bunch. But we must all know that there are heathens in all denominations and saints in all denominations. Bishop is still annointed non the less.

snuggableteddyb, wouldn't you agree that for years, baptist folk frowned upon speaking in tongues and being filled with the holy ghost(WITH EVIDENCE)? For years, baptist folk did not accept holiness as a LIFESTYLE. They called us cogic & apostolic folk crazy and holy rollers but they came to our evening services to experience that power Bishop was speaking of. Things have began to change but just because someone speaks the truth does not mean they are bashing or putting a black mark on anythng.

I mean I can concur to a certain degree. I mean to this day I have friends who make remarks about us baptists. Ex. A baptist minister here got caught up in some stuff and one of my friends said "well you know how ya'll baptists are". And my thing is riff raf goes on in all denominations it's just that some do a better job of keeping it hush hush than others. I've known cogic pastors to make babies in the church and then them and their bishops work to keep it from making widespread attention

I agree that all denominations have issues but regarding differences in doctrine, baptists have had a difficult time accepting the principles of a holiness lifestyle. That's a fact. We can agree that Jesus is the Son of God. That's a given in mainline christian denominations. The operation and importance of the Holy Spirit is the issue. That is why Paul Morton had to branch out and start FGBF bcuz he was ostracized. He is not even recognized as a bishop at the baptist headquarters in TN.

Baptists have not had an issue with the principles of a holiness lifestyle; the bible says we must live holy. Baptists had an issue with what some call holy. Long dresses, no makeup, not going to the movies, wearing head coverings, and not wearing pants does not mean you are holy. It means you have mastered the appearance of holiness. You can do all the above named things and still be hell bound. Some traditional pentecostal denominations have made a big deal out of those things and we do not.

As far as the Holy Ghost is concerned we believe in that too.I think too many generalizations have been made and people have put marks on whole denominations based on what those they have come in contact with say they believe. I know baptists who believed in the infilling of the Holy Ghost way before Paul Morton started teaching on it. At the end of the day none of us know everything nor do we have all the answers.

When the bible says be seperated from the world it is speaking of the world's system and way of thinking such as saying it's ok to do things that God says is wrong. It does not mean you can't enjoy a good movie or enjoy things that are not church related.
