It was COMPLETELY fixed... the Lakers shot 27 fts in the 4th QUARTER ALONE... More than the Kings THE ENTIRE GAME... Shaq only got 4 fouls while Pollard, Divac, Webber and Funderburke got 20... This was so fixed it's not even funny.
The Kings were the real champions of 2002 .
Taylor, I'm sorry, but you need to do some research... Donaghy is not full of shit... the evidence is everywhere... Look at the Heat/ Mavericks series from 06 or Game 7 of the Celtics/ Lakers last year...
the notion that Tim Donaghy made those allegations to try to get his sentence reduced is a farce, and wud only appeal to ignorant people, becuz he made those allegations UNDER OATH to the FBI. If he is in FACT proven wrong, he wud jus get an even worse sentence than before and another criminal charge.
i'm not gonna say the whole NBA is fixed but there is sum screwy shit goin on and i do beleive and hav thot for a while that the Lakers are the most favored team and sumtimes it really looks like they get away with murder. The NBA does show favoritism to players and teams. For anyone who doesnt even have in the back of their minds that their is sumthing seriously wrong with the league then u need to watch sum of the videos on youtube. sumthin aint right.
yea witout a doubt i think the NBA is fixed. I was age 12 as well when watching. I was thinkin what is going on wheres the calls n shit...but then thought thers no way the NBA would fix a game like that. but wen you look at that game and the circumstances of why the game might b fixed, it makes sense. a 3-peat by the showtime lakers a number 2 market....would make a shitload compared to a 20 market team underdog sacramento. when you watch game 6...you see thatthers no way in hell it wasnt fixed.
@TeamDime7 not jus that, but ALSO, Boston had made the Eastern Finals. They were hopin to get a big boston vs LAL matchup again, but Sac had a bigger uphill battle cuz of LAL's "star"power at the time. And dont ever call that team the showtime lakers. its not true and a disgrace to the real Showtime Lakers wit Magic who are legends, and they were definitely NOT the Showtime lakers/era. Nothin too 'showy' about shaq backin down in a strate line to the basket, and kobe ball hoggin.
The series without doubt esspecially game 6 is fixed.
If it wasn't then who benefits? Honestly?
More people would have bought Kings shirts purely because everyone love a new guy/ underdog. I do feel that Donaghy's allegations helped the fued but at the same time he should have at least named a few others, but using this is the most perfect example.
David Stern in all interviews involving the series never really gets to the point, and barely beats around the bush.
I think the NBA can be fixed at times. The first NBA lottery was terrible where the Knicks won. David Stern pulled out the bent envelope. When people placed the envelope in, the knicks hit the edge. search the 1985 lottery draft and there should be a 10 minute video.
sacramento won this in game 6 , but it was fixed , THERE SHOULDT HAVE TO BE A GAME 7 , WHY DO THE KINGS HAVE TO WIN 5/7 TO WIN THE SERIES ? EVERYBODY KNOWS SACRAMENTO REALLY WON THIS SERIES ... AND THERE SHOULD BE A ASTRIX ,NEXT TO 2002 , THANK YOU FOR DESTROYING THE NBA DAVID STERN .
@collector26 You damn Right! Its all about money which means they shaped and manipulated games....2002 belonged to the Kings. 2001 sixers had it, TOO MANY DAMN FOULS. The series against the timberwolves with KG was also fixed. I remember it too. Still till this day the refs are fixing games, East coast West coast rivalry is bullshit! So many fouls its slowing the games down especially with the lakers.Games should be how they play them in FIBA. Those officials are fair without ticky tack fouls!
Yes referee made mistake but believe it or not, it's harder to make a series of huge mistakes especially you have 3 referees stand there and watch. Keep in mind those are professionals to mess up like that in a professionals level make sound absolutely fishy.
Alot of NBA player, coaches and analysts speak out to defend NBA but seriously. You can only trust them 20%. Remember who put food on their table. NBA. Are they going to kill own source of income.
very insightful video young man, a lot of videos have demented fans with no intelligence. prior to game 5 boston was up 3-1 correct. meaning they could of won in la game 5. they were showing stern all series, press conferences, interviews, was he present in la for game 5. i watched that game commercials and all and didnt see him at any point during the game. i wonder if he has already pushed the series to 7?
pretty insightful analysis...i believe this series is gonna push 7 games...since it is one of the biggest rivalries...and because an extra game= more money
I remember that game like yesterday. I was so pissed watching the game as a 13 year old. 27 free throws in the 4th quarter and Kobe's elbow to Bibby's face said it all about that game. I believe some games, the refs are told to favor a team for sure.
what are the good areas? keep in mind I can't afford the really classy places. Also I'm lookin for a place in the city where there's more people and more places to work.
I went to a UFC PPV in Denver in the 90's. It was a tournament and then the Main Event Shamrock Vs. Severn. All tournament matches lasted less then a minute. And then the Main Event Lasted 20 Minutes. COME ON these guys are fighting with no gloves and can head butt each other but instead they roll around for 20 minutes. When it comes to the NBA just remember this is a BIG Business and they will ALWAYS do whats good for business. Even if that means fixing games.
I believed some games were fixed (like extending the series, star treatment) to benefit the league (money & revenue) and the fans (thinking Game 7 will be awesome). No matter what company, community or even a government, there's always a word BUSINESS! It's all about business and money and human are certainly prone in temptation especially MONEY. Sad but true.
If Government is corrupt, what more to any business like the NBA, anything is possible!
I remember that game very vividly. It was held the day before my Prom and I hated the Lakers(im a blazers fan). That was one of the best playoff series i have ever seen, and ive been watching NBA since 92. I think overall, the Kings had horrible luck during the series, they had a chance to go up 3-1 but Horry hit that lucky 3 to tie the series. Theres no doubt in my mind, the Kings were the better team, and even with all that bad luck and officiating, they still had game 7 at ARCO(36-5)and lost
Well that was actually around the time i started really watching basketball and i like so many remember that game and yes i actually do think it was fixed. and just because the ref isn't the most trustworthy guy doesn't mean he's lying about anything basically. sure he betted on games i don't think he would lie now because i would think that would get him in more trouble and i really don't see a reason to lie its not the NBA that is putting him in jail its his mistake.
With that i said. of course i don't think all of the NBA is fixed but i think that some are and maybe not even to cost someone a game or something but just little things to try and help the NBA in ratings and stuff.
Id like to think that the NBA is as clean as all the other sports.. it just seems like every year new eveidence comes out that points in the other direction..
im with you, I didnt get big into basketball until the 03 playoffs when the pistons had their runs i was only 12 or 13, then especially in 2004 when they won. But if you remember, last summer when this was all over the news, you saw many headlines along the lines of "Rasheed Wallace: I told you so" Referring to the 7 game series of 2005 which i believed was reffed by donaghy. Is the NBA fixed: NO! Are there several NBA champions that have a ring thanks to refs? YES!
the rockets vs lakers game was fixed when ron was gonna kill kobe

i have been hearing "the fix is in" rumours about the NBA since i was a kid.
