  • thats me carrying the admirals flag

  • Did I see 8 bearers? what is with that?

  • @sailortohusker 8 bearers for admirals

  • Barrencross777, nice video.. I have never seen a marching element during a Full Honors service. I was at the Ceremonial Guard for a year and conducted roughly 60 funerals as a COT ( the officer or CPO) leading the whole element and never saw a service. Nice birds eye view... BTW, the COT for this funeral retired from the navy ...

  • @pedrinelastronauta I can't remember who was the COT for this funeral but since it is a female it could have been Senior Chief Levi, otherwise it could be Senior Chief Wallace or Lt. Watley but the only one retired is CSCS Levi. In what year where you at the Guard?

  • @BARRENCROSS777 I just left last December, my tour was only 12 months. Wish I could have done a regular tour there though...

  • Military salute is rendered to passing colors and official escort(in this case our CO and an Admiral) and then the caisson....

  • @BARRENCROSS777

It's okay, even those serving in the US Navy aren't familiar with ceremonies not just in Washington but around the fleet. Keep up the good work BarrenCross. It's nice to see a sailor who knows the regs. Bravo zulu

  • Thank you shipmate

  • the sailor standing in the foreground failed to render proper military salutes for colors.

  • No, she did. i was there taking this vieo, the thing is that the ceremonial guard does not renders the hand salute like the rest of the navy, Instead of snapping out the arm paralel to the deck, we raise it slowly at the front, so the elbow is actually pointing down and almost a fist away from the torso.

  • Thanks for the explanation. It was not visible to me when I watched it. Thanks again for the explanation.

  • im just glad to be apart of this, however not looking forward to the navy 5 miler tommorrow lol.

  • Is the weather the deciding factor in whether or not the guard wears the above uniforms or the dress whites?

  • We wear (as the rest of the Navy) seasonal uniforms; from early April to early October we wear dress white and from October to early April we wear dress blues ( also called summer whites and winter blues) the blues is the "official" service dress uniform and can be worn year round, but is made of whool so go figure.

In this video we are wearing peacoats over the uniform, when it's below 41 we have to wear it.

  • Yep, a 2 star Admiral

  • Hmmm, must be a Flag rank.
