I'm not use to using phalanx units, I normally don't keep a coherent battle line, if feels too odd to go head to head and not have the ease of maneuvering that barbarians usually give me.
he should have regular ha's instead of cata archers, they are only unique in the roster, nothing else, regular arrows, slow speed, and no mace attack! I would have used reg upgraded ha's or another unit of upgraded ha's to fight. Anyways, good fight, and good game, keep posting these awesome vids!
They are long ranged arrows, honestly the only use I could see for them, is for drawing arrow fire due to their armor and ability, however they are too slow and poor in melee combat to be of great use due to their price.
A good player will ignore them and target your archers instead. So their use is limited and for this match up, not needed.

10k mainly. I have played clan games at 15k and 12.5k, and a few 20k. My only 20k game was a Gaul vs Rome battle, which I managed to win. I put that to the snow bonus and him splitting his army too much, and my foresters having a hill advantage.
I think his main problem was the mishandling of his infantry, he kept pulling units out and allowing legionary units to be overwhelmed.
By the time his catas engaged his infantry was in disarray and spread too thin. While mine was massed and concentrated.
Certainly if he used his cataphracts to better effect it would have been hard fought and certainly winnable for him, but against my sacred band infantry, he'd have a tough time, even with the mace attack.
