He promoted war bonds and put people down who couldn't buy them while he himself didn't buy many. He became a rich man as President. WW11 was paid for because 85 million Americans bought $165 billion in bonds. And the wealthy paid 90% income tax.

The only problem I have with your comment is the enemy being the free market. capitalism is wonderful however, what we are seeing right now is not capitalism. Umm...I think most people WANT health care. And you should read article 1, section 8 of the constitution for authority.

Your figures are off on military spending. The "budget" may "only" be 500 billion, but by the time you add in all the suplementals and hidden costs, it is over 1 trillion a year we spend maintainting our miltary. More than the rest of the world, COMBINED!

That is what will bankrupt us, not health care.

Artilcle 1 section 8 specifies exactly what the federal Government has controll over and the rest is left to the States. Nothing in it or in our forfathers writing suggest Government should provide individual healthcare. In their writings, man should take responsibility for himself and his families health and well being. Medicare is actually unconstitutional. Think of it this way the two most heavely government regulated entities Healthcare and Education are highest cost and both are failures.

Having a working healthcare system for all Americans is AT LEAST as important as national defense. Do you want to privatize the armed forces? Of course not. It is socialized to spread the cost. The same as basic health care will be shortly when we join the rest of the civilized world.

Congress shall have the power ........ provide for common defence and general welfare. In the 17 following clauses nowhere does it state individual healthcare. The general welfare pertains to protecting the people from out side forces. Anything not set forth in those articles is up to the States and the people. Read you Constitution and the writing of the forefathers. They specify that man is free and must be responsible for the health and well being of himself and his family.

"General Welfare" means just that. The general welfare of the citizens of the United States.

I don't know why you people continue to attempt to rewrite what the constitution says and bastardise it's intent. You should probably read a little more.

Seems a little ironic that the biggest sign in the audience says "CUT SPENDING".

All the while they stand in front of a multi billion dollar example of spending gone wild.

If we eliminated half of these weapons of war we could fund health care and education for all and still have the biggest military in the world by far.
