  • thats a sweet fort that gave me an idea I'm going to build on just like that.

  • @tyegreen15 Thank you my friend, Reggie

  • To smoke out the shelter, why don't you build a fire in the shelter's fireplace and cover the chimney? The can seems to work well though...

  • @Paintballgooroo2 That's a good idea my friend i will remember that.

    Thanks, Reggie

  • that shelters weak m8 it would get blown down in a light breeze you need to make better foundations to make it stronger, your fire is half decent though, keep it up

  • @rath85 Thank you my friend and no worry about the shelter it is very strong.

    Thanks, Reggie

  • whats that thing you light the fire with

  • @pokefanmehmet Strike force my friend

  • A semi-permanent shelter...with a fireplace? Man, you're amazing! Also, kudos for finding a great, rewarding hobby - not only learning skills that are nowadays often over-looked, but just enjoying the nature around you (a great anti-depressant and stress relief, believe me). Keep up the good work!

  • @Haybvs Thank you my friend, Reggie

  • do you have any tips for british terrain

  • @TheLilairsofter96 Sorry my friend.

    Reggie

  • Wow! That is amazing!

I wish I could build something like that!

    I'm 13, I've got to practise a bit.

  • @TheDutchBushcrafter Sorry my friend i am not familiar with the environment of Turkey.

    Thanks, Reggie

  • @CallofDutylover789 haha Yeah that's one way to do it my friend.

    Thanks, Reggie

  • @M82400L haha Thank you my friend, Reggie

  • your good

  • @MrDirtytooth Thank you my friend, Reggie

  • Did you ever try putting a small tarp down on the floor of this shelter or ones like it? maybe you could put some leaves or something on the ground and put the tarp over it for cushion.

  • @jgsb111 I will remember that my friend Thank you, Reggie

  • I love seeing your trusty friend show up.

What is your German Shepherds name?

The loyal friend is always with you I ether hear him or see him.

He is of the higher pure blood line, look how his ears stand, point straight up.

  • @icicicles Thank you my friend and her name is Isabelle.

    ,Reggie

  • try puting sum tarp under it then the leaves it would last longer, awsome shelter thou

  • @jwhamilton79 I never thought of that my friend Thank you, Reggie

  • You made a video earlier using bamboo only as a watertight roof. You should do another video constructing a semi permanent bamboo shelter (bamboo roof/walls). One with enough room for a bamboo cot and storage of essentials.

It could be a starting location for other videos and a way to display how durable the shelter is over time.

  • @Atoyota I am currently building a mini log cabin to serve as a winter shelter and i am going to be using bamboo as the roof.

    Pics are on my Facebook

    Thank you my friend, Reggie

  • Great video! Iffn you were to fully line the chimney with rocks you would end up bein warm for longer throughout the night I think. Excellent stuff.

  • why you say reggie after everything?

  • @royton1992 Its my name friend i am signing my comments like this one.

    Thanks, (Reggie)

  • I like the over-all concept, the fireplace is great... But it seems like a gust of wind might knock it all down...

  • @BravoAlphaLimaJR No worry's my friend this shelter was very sturdy.

    Thanks, Reggie

  • its not waterresistant.

  • @trocki80 Your right my friend its not water resistant its water proof.

    Thanks, Reggie

  • @TheGods1marine That's all awesome. but you forgot to water proof your chimney! should rain fall, your chimney is wide open

  • @topanteon Yes water can get in the chimney but not enough to cause any problems

    Thanks, Reggie

  • "contain the faaar" god I miss that accent! Watched all you vids man good stuff! I'd say you know more about survival that most of these so called "experts"

  • @TheQuinian haha Thank you my friend, Reggie

  • loved the fireplace, never saw that before.

  • @mutessi78 Thank you my friend

    Reggie

  • Looks like your building your own funeral pyre!! Just say'n.

  • @tedglidewell haha Don't worry my friend i'm still around

    Reggie

  • have a fire extinguisher ready !

in case your chimney sets fire to all those leaves when they'll be dry.

  • @feloncollie haha that would probably be a good idea my friend

    Thanks. Reggie

  • man i cant wait to try this myself!

  • @MegaHAMPTON22 That's great my friend let me know how it goes, Reggie

  • Now will the mud/pinestraw fireplace liner eventually catch fire?

  • @BackwoodsArsenal No my friend it never did

    Thanks, Reggie

  • that fireplace looks incredibly dangerous. all it takes is for one little blade of grass to go up and ur whole place is gone. not to mention that you could burn the whole forest down. this is the only vid of yours that i disaprove of :(

  • @MHTCapcomfan I really appreciate your incite my friend Thank you

    ,Reggie

  • @MHTCapcomfan people have been building their houses with mud and hay or hundreds of years its safe.

  • we have different approaches to smoking out your shelter

  • @89ssamt Everyone his their own Approach to things my friend.

    Thanks, Reggie

  • do you have youtube partnership?

  • @riworiwo15 I sure do my friend

    Thanks, Reggie

  • @TheGods1marine then a like and a comment for you! hd cam fund!

  • @nitdkim haha Thank you my friend and my next video will be in Hd :)

    Thanks, Reggie

  • Would starting a fire in the fireplace then covering the top of the chimney (causing the smoke to fill the shelter instead of going out the chimney) be an effective way to smoke out the shelter?

  • @densemuffin That's a very good idea my friend thank you

    Reggie

  • enjoyed your video Gwndfm

  • @GWNDFM Thank you my friend,Reggie

  • Thanks for the info. I would never have thought out the smoking process to rid of bugs, so simple!

I must critique something though- If you dampen the draft of the fire (put more obstructions) you will lessen the effect of drawing so much cold air into your doorway (it is heading into your hearth) Alternately, if you make a port that brings outside air right to the front of your hearth- you can make the fire bigger (less smoke) and still not draw a cold draft behind you.

    take care, and thanks!

  • @doktorandom That is true my friend thanks for pointing that out i will remember that

    Reggie

  • what part of north carolina is this?

  • @OpTiMuSxReMiX Central my friend

    Thanks, Reggie

  • My thoughts were as such... just have to keep hopes up for a long perfect mantle shaped stone... wouldn't that be nice!!! Haa Compliments to a young man doing what your doing! Keep it up!!

  • @Kwickdraw76 That would have been awesome my friend

    Thanks, Reggie

  • Don't know if the metal frame above the fire would eventually burn out... does the mixture of mud/clay harden to a point that even if the metal melted out, the mud fireplace would stay in place?

  • @Kwickdraw76 I don't if it would burn out my friend so i would defiantly need to keep an eye on it because i doubt the mud would hold without it.

    Thanks, Reggie

  • Nice

  • @XxTangoDownxX1 Thank you my friend, Reggie

  • what is the thing called that you used to light the fire

  • @nickgor123 Just books and online my friend

    Thanks, Reggie

  • I think if you use ceader or pine for the smoke the toxins in it will keep bugs and other animals out even after the smoke is gone but people are able to handle it so it is safe once the smoke is gone.

  • @macy725 That is true my friend

    Thanks, Reggie

  • Awesome shelter sad im to lazy to make one my self. :)

  • Good idea except one problem for me I live in louisiana so how will i get leaves?

  • I learned from this video. Good job

  • Love this!!!!! And you are so polite :) keep it up!

  • That is one sweet shelter brother. You did a reall good job with that. Keep up the good work.

  • @LifesxGoodZ ...you do know that the more space in a shelter, the more the heat will spread away from you...right? Its the same concept with an igloo. Giant igloos aren't nearly as warm as the smaller ones. The size is actually perfect for one - MAYBE two.

  • your common sense will take you far

  • awesome good idea with the smoke!! :) i subbed!
