@bsalightning08 I sold any that I owned! Seriously I normally have at least two being tested at any time, so there's always one around for me to use. It's better that way to maximise my time with them for the reviews.
I had purchased a T1i already, but I am essentially a beginner. This video was extremely helpful because it helped me to explore my camera's features and limitations better. I especially did not even look at the software and I am now VERY EXCITED about it. Thank you very much for the fantastic review. When (if) it's time to upgrade in the future, I'll look for you again for sure.
great review of the 500D, I bought this model in October 2010 and I just love it. The only problem I have had is the hand grip (right hand side) has become slightly loose and moves when trying to take a shot :0(
I got this camera today! It was used off of craigs list, but is in amazing condition! I got it for $100!! Like no joke! Pretty awesome deal I would say!(: I love it!(:
Thanks for sharing. I have one, already 2yrs old, but still learning how to use it right whenever I need it. Use it for child's sports, dance, parties. Feel lazy reading the manual. Will visit more your video. Again thank you so much.
@KayoKushBro oh ok thanks! One more question, When it says "body only" what does that mean? Does it only mean that it doesnt come with a lens, and if thats the case what do you recomend. But the body only then buy a seperate lens or find the camera that comes with one?
@iMKsquared No prob well body only is just the camera without the lens & i suggest just buying the camera with the lens makes it easier just find one that comes with it ,
I have this camera and i absolutley love it! Once you learn how to use it and change the settings to how you want your pictures to turn out, photoshop or photo editing on your computer isnt required.
just went over to youtube looking for reviews on this and i was actually glad this dude is still presenting reviews because i remembered him the last time i bought my first canon dslr in 2009. the reviews are very thorough and detailed. thanks!
@Cameralabs I really do appreciate your style in giving all the pro's and cons to the cameras I am interested in. Thank you for all you invaluable information! I'd also like to let you know your webpage is pretty awesome and really gives a LOT more info than you can provide here on YouTube.
@Canon794 no you cant sorry :/ when you run out of memory on your sd card it says "card full" and will stop recording video or taking pictures until u give it an sd card with room to store. If there is not a card in there it says "no card" and wont take pictures or video. hope this helps :)
Why doesn't it let you use Liveview on the basic modes? I think that'd be perfect for a closeup shot that you can't be staring into the viewfinder for.
@tamiltgerzzzzz The video quality is VERY good. And when recording video, the camera doesnt shake like a flip camcorder because its heavier. The only downside (in my opinion) is that videos take up ALOT of space! (now, this is the only video camera i have at the moment so i dont know if other camcorders use less space for video.) When i try to upload videos to youtube from this camera it takes FOREVER! (like 1 hour per minute of video!) i only use this camera because of the quality.
@tamiltgerzzzzz well.... if you are going to use this camera for uploading to youtube... i dont recommend it because of how long it takes to upload and how much space a video takes up on the sd card. If you ARE going to use it for youtube, i hope u got ALOT of patience. But otherwise... this camera takes excellent pictures and the video quality is VERY good. If you are planning on using a camera for youtube... i reccomend a flip ultra hd 3rd generation. Theyre ALOT cheaper now.

Hi, I am currently looking at entering the world of DSLR, I have looked at the Nikon D3100 but I have also found deals on the Canon EOS 500D with twin lens. So I have to ask, would the Canon EOS 500D(twin lens) be a better buy than the Nikon D3100 with a 18-55mm lens only? The canon deal is only £160.00 more expensive.
Great review on the Canon EOS 500D/T1i. The camera is impressive. The video is so correct about finding the best digital camera being subjective. There are websites that can help with finding a digital camera to meet ones photography needs. The site that I have found to be helpful has been digital camera ratings dot net. The site divides the camera levels into beginner, amateur and professional level cameras. It certainly helped me.
Gordon, I love your reviews. I think they are the best out there. A simple question for you. Canon 500D or Nikon D3100? I used to own a Canon 350D and changed it for D3100 a few months ago. The D3100's images (JPEGs) are quite soft to what I'm used to with Canon. Your thoughts? (I'm more interested in stills than video capabilities and sometimes I simply cannot be asked to shoot RAW and process them afterwards) Cheerz, mate.
DynamiteChild @MritalkApple : yes, great for beginners, but be aware that the T1i videos isn't MOV, so you'll have to convert if you want to share, otherwise consider the T2i
helo and hi,,,your videos especially your dslr tips are extremely helpful,,,,can u please tell me how to change the quality of video recording in canon 500d,,i am not been able to switch it to 720p,,,please let me know,,thanks
Would this be an okay camera for beginners? I want to get a nicer camera than just my plain rectangular digital camera, and I like that this one also shoots decent quality videos.
Hi Gordon, i was wondering if you can make a video on the Nikon D3100, i really want 2 buy it, but still not sure, im a first uses of DSLR camera, upgrading from compact camera Nikon Coolpix L110. thanks :)

I want thank you. It's a pleasure to watch you're reviews and the knowledge I gleam is appreciated. I do check out you're channel and I see you respond quickly to questions, another big plus, again, thanks for the great work!
Hi, great rev., you gave a sort of diffrent look on the camera than all the other reviewers. Great job. I just have one question. Is it possible to record videos when connected to the PC, or can we only take pictures?
@malnsk The T1i is the exact same camera as the T2i. There's barely a difference. I'd say, if you want to shoot video more than pictures, spend the extra $200 and pick up a T2i. It gives more options for video such as a 24fps 1080p over 20. If your just looking at pictures, not so much video, go for the T1i. The 1080p 20fps looks fine to me, and with the right work, you can make the video look just as good as the T2i. Hope I helped.
What would you recommend for a beginner? I dont know much about camera's and various options they got. So help would be appreciated. I got my eye on the Canon 500d, but i also like the flipping out screen "thingy" on this one. I also got a glimpse on the Nikon d90, although if it doesn't have any significant improvements i wouldn't wanna get it as it is considerably more expensive. The Cannon one is about 200++$ more expensive then Nikon d5000. I also like things getting done fast..
What in the fuck? A simple yes would've done just fine.. This is a gift for someone, I'm not all up to date on all the camera tech shit. Thanks though for the answer "you absolute tool". lol
im thinking about buying this camera for videos. i really want to get into filmography/photography and i feel like DSLRs like this that shoot video are probably my best bet. do you reccomend? btw its for bmx videos that would have alot of moving shots.. do you think it would do good on a tripod ? is the lens very shaky?
Ok, i am verry new to the DSLR cameras, i have only ever had a 'pocket' camera and am ready to upgrade to a DSLR. I am looking at getting a T1I and this video helped me undertsand it much more, thank you! But one more thing, is this camera good at taking photos of fast moving things. ex- running dog, flying bird.
Hey, i just bought my canon 500D in sweden, and i don't know if there is suppoused to be any difference, but i was checking your video and i found something different. My ISO range just gets to 3200, not to 12800. Is it the camera or is it that i just haven't find it? Help please!!!
i was gonna get an XSi but wanted this since it has a video record option. is the video option worth it? or should i just get something cheap like a XS and a separate video recorder? thx
@cameralabs yes its true,.this was my problem before since i had a 16gb class 2, but i consulted the canon.ca, and they told me that i should get class 6 or higher..
@cameralabs Gordon, I love your reviews. I think they are the best out there. A simple question for you. Canon 500D or Nikon D3100? I used to own a Canon 350D and changed it for D3100 a few months ago. The D3100's images (JPEGs) are quite soft to what I'm used to with Canon. Your thoughts? I'm buying my first DSLR ever, and I was wondering wich one to choose between those 2 cameras : Canon EOS 500D and the Nikon D90, and also while comparating, please make sure you comparate the price too.
Thanks for the videos, I want to get a camera just for video recording, for as cheap as possible
around $600. Could you recommend anything?
Really appreciate it
Thanks

im thinking about buying this camera for videos. i really want to get into filmography/photography and i feel like DSLRs like this that shoot video are probably my best bet. do you reccomend? btw its for bmx videos that would have alot of moving shots.. do you think it would do good on a tripod ? is the lens very shaky?

SUPERSS90 1 year ago
i was gonna get an XSi but wanted this since it has a video record option. is the video option worth it? or should i just get something cheap like a XS and a separate video recorder? thx

WOW, I think I'm going to get this!!! It's only 500 bucks. Good review, though what camera are you using to record this video?

can anyone tell me why my t1i only records about 35-45 seconds of 720p video before saying 'busy' at the bottom and then stopping the recording?
chrisaIves 1 year ago
@chrisaIves Sounds like your card is too slow - you'll really need class 6 or faster to avoid slowdowns, although class 4 might do at a push.
cameralabs 1 year ago 8
@cameralabs
my card is a class 4, and was 45 dollars. that sucks if it's because of my card. :(
chrisaIves 1 year ago
@cameralabs yes its true,.this was my problem before since i had a 16gb class 2, but i consulted the canon.ca, and they told me that i should get class 6 or higher..
johnmark0221 1 year ago

@cameralabs Gordon, I love your reviews. I think they are the best out there. A simple question for you. Canon 500D or Nikon D3100? I used to own a Canon 350D and changed it for D3100 a few months ago. The D3100's images (JPEGs) are quite soft to what I'm used to with Canon. Your thoughts? (I'm more interested in stills than video capabilities and sometimes I simply cannot be asked to shoot RAW and process them afterwards) Cheerz, mate.

Just want to tell you thank you! You really helped me narrow down to the Canon T1I and love it!

Hi Gordon
I've bought Canon 500d My first DSLR ;) Thanks to your review my decision was very easy. I was thinking about Nikon D5000
The man in the shop was suprised when i was asking so many things about both dslr thanks for your review. Very profesional.
you schould say diffrence beetwen Canon 500d and Nikon D5000 is like beetwen
MINI and VW Beetle almost both the same but MINI gives you the fun of ride
the same situation is with Canon it gives you fun of photography and more expirience

Hi Gordon
I'm buying my first DSLR ever, and I was wondering wich one to choose between those 2 cameras : Canon EOS 500D and the Nikon D90, and also while comparating, please make sure you comparate the price too.
Thanks
