Dobermans are THE dogs. I feel pity for them because of their genetic disfunctions and short lifespan, but they are really protective dogs and if treated right they are the best.
They have a bad reputation as "mean" dogs though ... There's no such thing as mean dogs, just mean owners who neglect their dogs. They do however look very intimidating, especially with cropped ears(don't crop them though), I doubt anybody dares f- with you if you have one as your pal and comrade :-)
Well people dock their Doberman's ears and tails for several reasons. The first is to make the Dobe look viscious and intimidating. Another reason is because the tails are extremely long, and if the Dobe hits it too hard against a wall or something hard, the force might break a tailbone. As for the ears, it's not only for the look, but also to keep the dog's hearing intact.
there ears and tails are cut because the breed was made to be gaurd dogs at first, so making the ears and tails short kept the bad guys from grabing them and hurting the dog. short tails and ears are hard to grab. now days its mostly for the look. I think to show a doberman it has to have its ears and tail cut.
Tail is cut(called docking) because in can get injured in working dogs, and the ears are cut(called cropping) so they can hear better, and so working guard dogs couldnt get grabbed and pulled down by the ears, like handles, and there is a lower risk of getting an ear infection with cropped ears

The ears are cut so that they can locate wher ths sound is coming from and tails are cut becuase they are long and delicate.

Some people cuts their tail but I didn't do it because I prefer my dog of that way
