The institutions in question were not "orphanages" as reported, but "residential schools." The kids were not orphans for the most part, there is really no such thing as an orphan in a Native community, it is a laughable idea to them. "It takes a village to raise a child." They prefer to be called "First Nations People", some don't mind being called Indians. The kids were taken from their parents because there were no schools where they lived in remote First Nations Communities.
