This is a fine example of the grotesquely [?] sarcastic character that Shostakovich writes in his music. What composer could get away with writing the most tedious exercices [sp.?] and turning it into a movement from a successful concerto?
Another reason why I love the music of Shostakovich
i love 7/8 its crazy!! it amazong how hard this peice is seeing as its mostly in 8ves and 6ths...2nd movement is fantastic though and playable!! love it...Thanks!!
Dmitri Jr plays this fantastically!

For some reason, Stalinist bureaucrats chastised him for this concerto. Boggles my mind.
