This isn't anime- it's American animation. It's a lot like those 90's Action Movie Style Saturday morning cartoons except made for an older audience which is really cool if you think about it- it's like the people that did all that stuff that us kids used to watch back then are doing it for us again except they know that we're all around 17, 18, 19, 20 years old so they've stopped toning it down to a PG level. This is different from the video game and the game may be at fault for some points. In the video game it is said that the marker is man made, or a replica of the actual marker. Another note: In the movie the marker repels the necromorphs, but in the game it doesn't; even though they did specifically say it does.
