I use absolut citron with the frangelico, and i bite the lemon with the sugar first but you have to make sure you keep the lemon juice in your mouth while taking the shot
Thanks for all the awesome recipes! I went to a bar for the first time for my friends birthday party, I went ahead and ordered my girlfriend, the birthday girl, and I a shot of cake each, and we all were shocked! Thank you so much for giving me great ideas and filling my brain with actual drinks. instead of screwdrivers and monster and vodka lol
i'm having a parctical exam on bartending and ive decide to makethis drink, please tell me what can i substitute for the frangelico because i don't have a hazelnut liquor here and how can garnish it when i serve it coz presentation is also a big factor.
This particular drink is going to be tough to garnish... first, it's a shooter and it already comes equipped with a lemon. So, that's technically a garnish.
To substitute something, it's going to need to be as close to hazelnut as you can get. The goal of the drink is the combination of the ingredients to get you the chocolate cake effects.
Honestly, choose a more flexible drink. This one's HAS to taste like chocolate cake or it's not a chocolate cake shooter.
someone told me that kahlua or amaretto could be a substitute for the hazelnut liquor,is it okay and will the taste be the same or at least near to the chocolate cake shooter?thanks again.
Kahlua substituting for hazelnut? Never heard of that. To me, Kahlua tastes like a coffee while frangelico tastes more like a peanut butter (it's also used in the peanut butter and jelly shot).
Yeah, that would work too, you may not get the intense feeling of the chocolate frosting if you do it in that order, could try both and see what's better.

@dcoachk I believe it is needed but I've never validated that for sure.

you did remember to shake the bottle after you took it out the freezer dident you
manticore117 2 years ago
sure, but she doesn't shake to well once thicker :)
everydaydrinkers 2 years ago
@manticore117 why would you need to shake the bottle after you took it out of the freezer?
CashJM 1 year ago
@CashJM because the pure alcohol will rise to the top at those temperatures and that could be potentially fatal if you drink it

Did this with a bunch of friends. The sugar coated lemon does get a little sticky...but it does taste like cake.

Could you do this without the Frangelico? I don't have acces to that at the moment.
EvilAnanazz 2 years ago
Can you get a hazelnut liqueur? That's the basic name for what Frangelico represents.
