@imawsomeimawsome true im 14 and well i like metal and stuff but this song its so calming and i like it for some reason....i prefer it over some of the music i hear..
so i was having the worst day of my life and i see the at&t commercial and the song just got to me....i smiled and went online to find out this song (this video) and now i feel happy because this song sort of told me even if you have the worst day of your life something will always cheer you thanks for this video sunshinewings...
To hear the voice of NIck Drake makes me literally feel relaxed all over. I thank God he existed even for the short time he was here. It is a shame to think today's generation of young teens do not know or understand this art. I make sure my kids learn to appreciate fine music. They will be the new generation of music lovers from many eras of music past.
@Furu4392 .....Look around you.....there is potential of coarse, but their action and/or inaction speak volumes and I believe music is a POWERFUL influence.
Like a ray of light piercing the grey mist, "From The Morning" is such a faintly optimistic song on a rather foreboding album. Nick's voice here is so intimate. His whole story is excruciating. He's without a doubt a romantic, and a beautifully fragile soul. I never knew you, but, thank you for existing, Nick.
I officially don't hate this song anymore because I found out that this was made in 1972, not a new song, and I hate most new songs. His singing sounds SO modern!
@AfterThought13 I said I hate new songs. I like the classics better. I stopped hating this song recently because I found out that this is a rarely heard (imo) classic.
@Beatlesfangoogle okay but to like or hate a song for the simple fact of being new or classic seems,... so your telling me if the song was a classic you would like it, but if it was the same exact song but new, you wouldnt?
@Beatlesfangoogle If it's a good song who the hell cares if it's new? Depsite what a lot of elitists think, there is plenty of amazing music that has been released in the past decade. People should like a song because of the song itself, not the year it was recorded.
I think Nick's timing in the music industry was just off. He is a genius no one will deny this. Also at the time, there was an artist by the name of James Taylor who too also wrote beautiful songs and played the guitar very well. I'm partial to Nick Drake because his music speaks to me more.....like they say "the good die young"
damn at&t... it just doesn't seem right. Maybe nick would have liked the recognition though? VW and at&t and is enough though. I don't want to see any more fucking commercials with nicks music in it though
I listen to all genres of music..yes even rap, but rap never touches me the way songs like these do. I love muscians you actually sound poetic, and that sing from the heart, whos songs actually have meaning. BUt its sad they dont get noticed the way they should.
A day once dawned, and it was beautiful A day once dawned from the ground Then the night she fell And the air was beautiful The night she fell all around. So look see the days The endless coloured ways And go play the game that you learnt From the morning. And now we rise And we are everywhere And now we rise from the ground And see she flies And she is everywhere See she flies all around So look see the sights The endless summer nights And go play the game that you learnt From the morning.
@mrbigboygay - There are 2 books written about his life. 'Nick Drake - Biography' by Patrick Humphries and 'Darker than the Deepest Sea' by Trevor Dann. Look on Amazon. Hope this helps.
To answer, how he died, is as complicated as his life. Such a sad fate for this incredible genius. I can only recommend that you read about it and conclude that question for yourself.
i think this song is about nick describing a perfect day, or a day in a perfect life, but realizing it's not like that. dont really know what he means by the "game".
I'm a fan of ethnic music, romantic classicism, and avant guarde music... but this, is such a work of art... romantically comparable to that of a work by Mendelssohn or Franz Liszt.
i have been looking for this song since hearing it on the vicks advert last year! i was just instantly attracted to it. and have been searching for ages. so glad i found it. x:)
Nicks music makes me think of spring, everything awakenning, coming to life, i think it is beautiful. There is also the more haunting darker side to his music, Pink Moon the album has both of these. One of the most underated albums of all time? Please feel free to post a comment whether you agree or disagree (no taste lol!)
I listen to Nick Drake because I admire his lyrics and gentle voice. The way he saw the world is something I one day hope to be able to understand fully. Not all teenagers are ignorant idiots that only listen to untalented bands such as Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers. Nick Drake will always be remembered by the people that see him for what he was: a musical genius.

Well, hopefully in a few years the thirteen year olds will grow to understand the importance of Nick's music. And if not, then I hope the fucking kid's die in a car fire.
I'm not too happy about the fame Ledger brought Drake's music... I definately appreciate his beautiful memorial video for Drake, but now Black Eyed Dog is gracing the iPods of every 13 year old emo kid in the country... and I think it's defeating Drake's purpose.
he killed himself because he thought he was a muscial failure and people did not like his songs. So if he was alive today I think he would be happy with knowing he has reached many people. Do not be a snob...
