  • Best sing ever, by the best band ever!

    Love you girls.

  • Hey hippygypsy - I'm a 55 yr old straight guy and have been a fan since they showed up in the early 80's. The lyrics, the trick harmonies..... UNREAL!

  • Love the misstep at 1:41!

  • Beautiful song, that is all that has to be said. I have a hunger!

  • Best thing you have done for me, is make me take my life seriously!

I went to the mountains, there is more than one answer to these questions!

He never did marry, I have spent YEARS attempting to answer the questions!

  • I was in Atl when they played the 5point pub...these girls are the real deal. Unbelievable talent, poignant lyrics, chord changes and arrangements that paint vivid pictures of life and the struggle to be better.

  • thanks hippygypsy..u are completly right...this song is amazing, just like queen or any other band....great music is just great music...no matter if ur gay or not

  • Thanks for letting me know!

  • Andy sings a great accapela of this song -the office

  • @NAUIdragster001 Jim definitely helps him out

  • 1trulyunique1 . . . not only are they still around but they still tour. I saw that a year ago and it was fantastic! I've been going to their concerts for two decades.

hippygypsy . . . music doesn't see sexual orientation. People who can't hear music without it cannot really hear music.

  • Awesome, I just wish they were still around!

  • @1trulyunique1 they are! on tour this summer, check Lilith Fair out! =)

  • God I love this. And I'm not gay.

  • i woke up with this song in my head.

  • thanks April and Vera! love it

  • this song always takes me back:)

  • This vid makes me remember the days that I was the only lesbian I knew who didn't strut a mullet :)

These girls are brilliant ! Catch them 2010 at MWF.

  • My children and I saw Indigo Girls at a free/donation concert on the Cherokee Indian Reservation in western North Carolina in 1998 on my bitrhday. It was a sublime peak experience.

  • great song! - Therapy From Strangers.

  • A lesbian classic :D

  • It's a classic for everyone, Dear.

  • @airstrip101 ur right

  • Omg I LOVE it !!!

  • Went to their very small concert at USD campus in Vermillion back in the 90s. Gives me goosebumps! Thank you Indigo Girls for some awesome tunes.

  • everyone is talking about that mp4ify site. where can i find it? pulls audio and video from any youtube clip to mp3 or mp4 files?

  • i fell in love with the song when it first came out , so many years ago, the sentiment still means the same to me today...mores the pity...

  • huzzah! I'm not the only one who thinks she sounds like Melissa Etheridge! lol

  • @fr3nchy226 More like Melissa Etheridge sounds like her. Heh.

  • If the walls could talk 2.

when the scene changes from 1972 to 2000.

Yeah I've watched 1 gazilion times

  • This needs bongos

  • I heard this in a movie, but I can't remember wich one...

  • recuerdo a jamie a. jones cuando paso en ecuador.

  • This is THE song of my teen years...Amy Ray and Emily you both rock...

  • Saw them at Cornell in the early '90s. Love them!

  • The blonde one sounds just like Melissa Etheridge.

  • ...my Sis brought me to their concert at Laguna Seca, Monterey in 1995 and it marks a very special time in my life. This song will always remind me of her.....AND Brendan who kissed me at the concert that day!!!

  • Hey, big Tuna!!!

  • This is not acapella, Andy.

  • reminds me of the first time i scissored

  • I prefer Andy Bernard version!

    /watch?v=EfJ4SDRNvy8

  • I love Andy Bernard! I loved him doing the southern accent. I picked up right away that he from the south.

  • TUNA!

  • THIS IS ANDREW BERNARD

  • LOL, yes. I had this in my head earlier from watching that episode!

  • I'd never thought about this as a song about them coming out, just about not trusting authority blindly. Go figure!

  • can anyone tell me where are they now? Although I'll check out wiki after this.

  • It's brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i looked up this song after seeing them sing it on the office....hilarious episode...

  • You know what would be cool, I am sure this sounds silly but I'd love it if they did a duet with Melissa Etheridge. I love these women and I bet it would be great!!

  • this song is very akin to the old style of folk song writing... which is what makes it a great song. it's not specifically written to be about gay/straight/love/life/growing/learning/whatever... it's an open ended. It's what you get out of it.

  • This is such an uplifting song, and the lyrics are awesome. Brilliant!

  • Get off the soapbox love...we know all that. i was laughing at the way my Mother Almost made a blowjob joke...she was talking about Gay men Ramming things down her throat..an image i found hilarious....... Gay or Straight i dont care either way..and please dont infer i'm a racist either......i'm actually Kenyan........

  • They aren't ramming it down your throat...its called being who you are. And singing about whats important to you.

If I was like "I don't mind that black people are black but I don't need it ramming it down my throat!" people would be pissed. It's the same thing. Making music is about expressing your experience and your life. Coming out is a big part of a queer person's life so it'd make sense they'd write a song about it.

  • Very well said. And how do gay people ram it down people's throats when straight people talk about their weddings and marriage and shit isn't that ramming straightness down a gay person's throat? People are so confusing!

  • I've said it before and I'll say it again! You don't have to be gay to love the Indigo Girls! OMG! Do any of you listen to Judas Priest? Do any of you listen to Queen? Did that make you gay? Sick of people being afraid of others when there is no reason to fear them! Open your hearts and open your minds! Learn to understand, for Pete's sake! People can't help being gay any more than they can help being born with green eyes or blond hair!

  • @hippygypsy Your great!!

    Greetings from Austria (EU). Helga

  • @hippygypsy you are right! There should be more people here like you. :)

  • @hippygypsy Hey girl - I'm a 55 yr old straight guy and I've been a fan since they showed up in the early 80's> Seen them in concert twice ( wish it was twenty times.) The incredible lyrics, the trick harmonies, that soothing, earthy sound of an acoustic guitar..... Who can't be spellbound by this? What's happened to America? Real freedom means nobody judges or even cares what you do in your own home. How did this country get so twisted that owning guns is ok, but privacy isn't

  • @981Phil HEY! I've lost count of how many times I've seen them. Seriously. Seeing them again this month, in fact! Oh hell...we'll never figure this place out. There will always be loons who think they have all the answers and the fact is that none of us knows anything for sure. :/

  • @hippygypsy the less I seek my source for some definitive, the closer I am to fine. Yeah.

  • i loved that part in the office, they were so drunk lol. then jim fell off his bike lol...

  • i like this song

  • are these girls gay? bruno says yes lol

  • yeah they are. but they've never been a couple.

    (go to wikipedia. ;P)

  • where did these fucking hippies come from? halfway through the song

  • The hippies were probably hired to play the extra instruments.

  • haha brüno x) da haben wohl einige gleich gedacht und gehandelt wie ich ;)

  • Haha bruno xD

  • Love this song! Great lyrics!

  • haha ihr seid geil ich habe das genau wie ihr eingegenben als der antischwule das bei brüno gesagt hat gleich danach zu geil das ihr das auch gemacht hat der film war zu geil

  • as recommended by bruno

  • TUNA! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?

  • this is the very first time i've ever listned to this band, my music teacher told me to listen to them because she thinks the music i write sounds like them :)

now iv'e heard them im unbeliveably flatterd ! wow if i sound like this then im more than happy. I doubt i'm as good as these two though haha

  • Just a great song

  • absolut super find ich das

  • I am a latecomer, hearing this track on 'If these walls could talk' ...and then hit Amazon for their albums.......superb.

  • Did the music used to be good!

  • MOMMAS MAN !!!!

  • great song

  • I found the Indigo Girls about 20 years ago as well. I loved their sound. Also, I thought that chicks would dig a guy that was into the Indigo Girls.

  • but the chicks that were into the indigo girls probably wouldn't be into you, regardless. haha

  • back in 1989 or so, i saw this video on MTV and immediately fell in love with Emily, Amy, and their wonderfully life affirming music. And now almost 20 years later as i walk through the minefield of coming out as a transgendered lesbian, my dear friends Amy and Emily still comfort and inspire me with their beautiful works of art.

my deepest thanks to the Indigo Girls for sharing their gift with us all. Goddess bless you always.

  • Ladyvanessa14 what do you mean I am just wondering

  • i 1st came across these 2 bout same time , god 20 yrs seems so long ago but like nothing in reality , they are beautiful, send me msg ladyvanessa its good to know indigogirls inspire all im gay . lesbian, i love them, and love you tube for being able to see them xxxxxxxxx

  • i love the andy/jim remix

  • I love their voices together

  • Scratch the not bad part.

  • Not bad, not bad, but I like the Andy version better.

  • i agree

  • haha of course

  • this is one of their greatest songs. thanks for the lyrics.

  • I'm so glad I gave it one more try. The only other site that had this was their label. This is a very philosophical song. Searching and believing in your path when you find it. Playing classical guitar is amazing to me as well. Thanks for taking he time. I'm sending this to a friend who is at that Watershed moment. Peace

  • Thank you for this video. This is a great song that I hear every once in a blue moon and when I hear it I wish I could hear it again. Now I know where I can go to listen to it.
