have you ever considered playing a different genre besides hardcore/scene music? drumming different genres will make u a better drummer overall....

@joshuag94 I do... I started playing classic rock... I am a worship drummer for my church... I love all kinds of music... pop and R&B drumming has also helped me! Heck, I have even played to dubstep... I wouldn't necessarily say my new band totally fits into the hardcore genre... we are more indi alternative... especially with some of the new material we are writing.

Hmmm... not sure... if it sounds like a "crack" like a marching snare it is probably tightened way to tight... un tighten it a little and then put some of those gels on the head to dampen to ring off of the snare... should get a mid-tone out of it... that is what I do!
