Hey guys chill out. It's not his fault ExpertVillage made he look retarded. I'm pretty sure this guys is actually good but ExpertVillage just wants his basics and make it sound stupid :)
Look AssianRed, it could very well be that we have a fucking life? And as a DJ, we are not in the habit to critique others unless its absolutely essential. Why dont you stfu...
@tannazia Probs because there is more than one option "maybe a macintosh computer"... well you could use a PC instead. "maybe an audio interface" he probs said that because an audio interface is handy but it's not a must have, all depends if you're going to record or not. but i agree on the "bs vid" part lol
I'm sorry, I have watched many of your vids and you have it all wrong. Know your music, know your equipment, and practice often is the right way to become a DJ. You can have mediocre equipment and spin better than most because you're dedicated.
@Ometen What about these dj programs that you can get for you pc, i was to become a dj and starting to look into the instruments i need. It seems to me that vinyl djing is a thing of the past, because everything is electronic now, you can use cds instead of vinyl am i right?
Actually you can rent stuff for deejaying, you don't need to buy. But what you really need as a deejay is some kind of player, vinyl, cd or why not just simple MP3's? There is many ways to mix, and because of that it's very hard to come up with a good answer for your question. I recommend that you trying to learn to mix at a friend or just buying cheap stuff at the beginning, and as you learn more about mixing you can earn more money and buy better equipment that includes the functions you need.
@djperryboy cont... you also need a mixer if you wanna come up with some really good mixes. Virtually is good as well but I do recommend a hardware mixer. So what you need to play these playing types i named above is a turntable, a computer or a cd-player that you can connect with your mixing-ware (hardware, software). I recommend all of them for best results. But as always money might be the catch..
lol funny how he ONLY recommends a Macintosh. In the early years, they were some of the only systems that ran Digital Audio Workstations in conjunction with external hardware backups (because early harddrives could not handle large audio files such as a 20 track noncompressed song, which might take up a few gigs)(this is back when commodores were tracking like crazy)....but now PC has more than caught up, with the availability of protools, flstudio, etc...pc is not a bad choice. :)
@ApexDubb I think you are making music differently than I do. Just so I can understand a little better...I'm trying to figure out why I would run multiple instances of something like protools?
@ApexDubb ok so im totally clueless as to what we are doing here. We are using multiple instances of fully functioning daws to do what? lol sorry im so lost! thanks for the comments though!
dude, you don't fuckin need a mac, or midi controllers to produce, i use ableton live and its the best shit i tried... i dont need no fuckin midi controllers, etc.
@yamahar100 i use the scs.3m midi controller setup to spin with virtual dj and its insane, dun forget its not always about what you got, its how u use itttt
@DjAnnexAlpha Totally agree with you men, but I was trying to make a point that you don't NEED midi controllers to be able to produce, because people who are new at this may think that they won't be able to create any beat without one, so they spend hundreds of dollars in one and then they realize they didn't need one. Nevertheless midi controllers help
I'm a producer and I've got a PC with FL Studio 9, virtual synths, samples and Pioneer HDJ-1000 Headphones. I don't need more stuff at all to be a professional producer. But of course more money means more possibilities. But it's more important with money if you wanna be a DJ than if you wanna be a producer.
If you spend any less than 300 bucks on each turntable, then you are getting garbage and itll break within a week.
Speakers are the only place you can cut corners and be alright.
A mixer, and 2 turntables, for a beginning dj, should run you about $1,000 or else you wont be able to develop your skills and will suffer with poor equipment.
thanx to make a makintosh publicity. you can have less or more equipment to be a producer, but the most important think are SKILLS and not macintosh computer!!
yes you need mixtables and so on to be a dj.. everybody knows that, dont need to show your equipment just to let the other see it. show your SKILLS dude!!!
is this guy trying to empty my wallet or something? i have a pair of used tech 12's, a pioneer djm 400, a hp laptop, a junkie 100 dollar keyboard and some beat old house speakers. you don't need all this fancy crap
wow he is sooo wrong man! this is if you want to spend to much and want to be a dj. I think for being a good dj you have to be imaginative and creative craating and mixing your sounds!
if u read it again he said to become a dj u need a mixer and 2 turntables, to become a producer dj meaning creating ur own tracks to remixing song u need midi synthisithers and keyboard..
I'd Say 5-10K but that's why you build up from small.
I just started making basic songs on FL studio and Eventually I might get a $100 MIDI keyboard to make it easier to create songs, Then nice Speakers, then a better computer, etc...

Thats retarded, why would they use cd's? they've already proven they can dj, they dont need to do that. Daft Punk made a live remix on the spot. Look it up, thats what skill is.
well, turntables go for a few grand my friend bought one yesterday f or 3,000. Then the drum pad and Midi controllers are more than likely a few hundred dollars (thats a guess) and the speakers can go from a few hundred to a few thousand
wtf!!? what kind of turntables is your friend buying? I decent vinyl turntable you can get for around $100, thats belt driven, not the best but it works. For $600 you can get new Technics 1200's which are pretty much the best in the business as far as vinyl turntables go. I got mine for $300 each used, I've seen them for less.
A CDJ 1000 is only $1,200 new for the best in the business CD player. and you can get a nice CD turntable for $600 new.
i do my music fully-virtual, FRUITY LOOPS. perfect virtual-recording studio simulator, wich even lets you (also) plug stuff in, and even export it in .mp3, .wav and many more extensions...
hahahaha fa tanto il grosso e poi magari suona li nello scantinato di casa sua..HAHAHA ma chi cazzo la ascolta ancora quella techno stravecchia che fa lui ai giorni d'oggi??
Thanks for all the responses. I didn't even realize E.Village posted these videos. Defiantly very Basic topics ;-)
And limit 60 sec. each> For anyone interested in more advanced lessons on music production, or Scratching & Juggling feel free to stop by Scrtach dotcom MIAMI
thanks that really help out, i seen best buy selling cd mixers and turntables, is it good to buy it from best buy or online and by the way they are numark.
mayb just to fool around because i have seen their stuff. but i recomend that if you want to get serious get a good sum of money and invest into real equipment from music stores such as guitar center, skips, and others. trust me they pay off in the long run. then you can always upgrade later. also get lessons from proffesionals
@nickswizzy: rofl, if you're serious about making music then saying that mac sucks and vista would be a better choice is bullshit. not saying that Mac is so much better than Windows, cos that's not true, but almost every professional producer either uses Mac OS or Windows XP. not Vista ;P
i had one...didnt like it at all.....and then sold it.....and bought a pc with about two times the power for the same price......so i know what im saying
ye that is true, macs are far more expensive than pcs, which is why i dont use them. i just meaned to say that a mac with the same specs as a pc is not worse than a pc ;)
mac have alot better audio driver right out of the box. also the graphics card is very good. Thats half of the reason most producers use Mac. Another reason is Midi is a bit easier to work with on Mac right out of the box, just plug and chug. Final reason is because of software, There are some really great PC softwares FL studio, Sound Forge. But recently Logic pro had made alot of progress in becoming the top software. I haven't yet heard a good argument for the PC software over Logic or Reason
Darude is a Producer DJ, jackass. A producer DJ is anyone who makes their own loops and samples and the like, and then uses the mixers and turntables to play them live. Get your facts straight.
i do have my facts straight. a dj is a fucking disc jockey! a producer makes music in the studio! you can do both at the same time, but they are still different things. and darude is a fucking washed up one hit wonder. FUCK OFF!!
i listen and read all these coments you are all ungreatfull these guys take time to teach true dj that want to learn thay are doing for djism what you lazy fs wont get off the couch for atleast thay are pasing on the tradition not trying to keep it for them self grow up these guys like dj hurracane mind thay speeliin which i have heard here in australia none of you i have for me to get leasons from him to me is like getting a spot playing with dj rec have some respect for the teachers
LOL! Are you fucking kidding me? This guy doesn't know what the fuck he is doing. I don't need a video to prove that; just fucking listen to him and you'll know that. If you want to learn how to DJ CORRECTLY, look up 'ellaskins' on youtube. Now fuck off, sir!
Yeah, I have noticed the same thing about almost every single expert village video I have watched. They are always too short and give a very superficial presentation. For example, the dumbass in this video fails to mention the PC DJ option.
Yeah that's it just run out and spend 5 grand and call yourself a DJ/Producer.
How about practice, practice, and then practice some more. Then, once you have a pretty good idea what it takes to really be a DJ/Producer, go out and spend some money.
All the fancy gear in the world won't make you a better artist...afterall...
What were those? Like some CDJ 1000MK3 or something?

I have owned numerous pieces of gear over the years.....
personal computers are not DAW machines....however...
with the right combination of software and hardware they can be
an indispensable tool for getting those Ideas down....
it is up to the user/musician to optimize their machine to run
multiple instances of whatever audio programs they choice to work with.....
Manipulated digital computer audio since the early 90's
on old rebuilt PC's so I understand the frustration that it brings

DJMC5ive 1 year ago
@DJMC5ive you'd never need multiple instances of protools....
but lets say you didnt start with protools....or even something like Logic....
but decided to go with Ableton/ FLstudio or Reason....
you would need to run them in rewire mode..... which takes up cpu.....
or you could render your individual tracks from Reason/ FLstudio as wave/loops
to edit and remix in Ableton..... and finalize the track in Protools....
...LOL ...Mod Tracking on a Commodore....ACID HOUSE

DJMC5ive 1 year ago
@DJMC5ive ...I hate that I cant say more than a few paragraphs here....
multi DAW = more sound shaping tools...
multi CPU = with MIDI you can sync multipul computers, even over a network... (Macbook Pro does this over wireless networks)
handy tool if 2 or more DJ's want to jam out (in whatever software they choice)
I've never found a DAW that didnt have its downside....
Artists paint in more than 1 color and more than 1 canvas at a time...
why should we be stuck writing in only one DAW

For $600 you can get new Technics 1200's which are pretty much the best in the business as far as vinyl turntables go. I got mine for $300 each used, I've seen them for less.
A CDJ 1000 is only $1,200 new for the best in the business CD player. and you can get a nice CD turntable for $600 new.
I'm really curious what turntable was $3,000

yangstaboi06 2 years ago

Jerry4getsusername 2 years ago
thanks that really help out, i seen best buy selling cd mixers and turntables, is it good to buy it from best buy or online and by the way they are numark.
yangstaboi06 2 years ago
mayb just to fool around because i have seen their stuff. but i recomend that if you want to get serious get a good sum of money and invest into real equipment from music stores such as guitar center, skips, and others. trust me they pay off in the long run. then you can always upgrade later. also get lessons from proffesionals

mac sucks
i use vista...
nickswizzy 2 years ago
@nickswizzy: rofl, if you're serious about making music then saying that mac sucks and vista would be a better choice is bullshit. not saying that Mac is so much better than Windows, cos that's not true, but almost every professional producer either uses Mac OS or Windows XP. not Vista ;P
Frambusjt 2 years ago
lolz ya but mac still sucks.....btw
nickswizzy 2 years ago
then why would everyone in the graphic industry use it? and why would so many people in the music industry use it? u probably never even touched one.
Frambusjt 2 years ago
i had one...didnt like it at all.....and then sold it.....and bought a pc with about two times the power for the same price......so i know what im saying
nickswizzy 2 years ago
ye that is true, macs are far more expensive than pcs, which is why i dont use them. i just meaned to say that a mac with the same specs as a pc is not worse than a pc ;)
Frambusjt 2 years ago
so it's not the mac that suckd ,its you who don't like it , pc or mac well its about skills and choices
defton24 2 years ago
mac have alot better audio driver right out of the box. also the graphics card is very good.

"Producer DJ"? They are two separate things, asshole!
nexusdb 3 years ago
Darude is a Producer DJ, jackass. A producer DJ is anyone who makes their own loops and samples and the like, and then uses the mixers and turntables to play them live. Get your facts straight.
LordAidenWolf 3 years ago
i do have my facts straight. a dj is a fucking disc jockey! a producer makes music in the studio! you can do both at the same time, but they are still different things. and darude is a fucking washed up one hit wonder. FUCK OFF!!
nexusdb 3 years ago 2
farts in your general direction nexus~ fuckin' waste of space troll anyway lol
LordAidenWolf 3 years ago
yes. when you have been beaten, you resort to name calling. typical shit from a n00ber!
nexusdb 3 years ago 3
Yeah, they're completely different. You CAN do both, but you don't call yourself a producer dj.
thatdude2212 3 years ago 3

HAHAHA!! this guy is a fucking clown!! none of these expert village "gurus" know JACK SHIT!!
nexusdb 3 years ago
Yeah, I have noticed the same thing about almost every single expert village video I have watched. They are always too short and give a very superficial presentation. For example, the dumbass in this video fails to mention the PC DJ option.

You need alot of staff :( they are all alot of money :'( Fuck! XD

are you gay? who cares omg
badassbunnie 3 years ago
Yeah that's it just run out and spend 5 grand and call yourself a DJ/Producer.
How about practice, practice, and then practice some more. Then, once you have a pretty good idea what it takes to really be a DJ/Producer, go out and spend some money.
All the fancy gear in the world won't make you a better artist...afterall...
