  • Whether you like or dislike, respect others by commenting as civilized human beings, with clear educated responses and not profanity. Your use of profanity testifies to your ignorance.

  • Christianspelta1 learn how to spell Chinese before you make derogatory comments.

  • Good song. Didn't know it was this popular... 30 million views...

  • @schuy7RA honeslty you didnt know johnny cash was this popular im disapointed...

  • Both this version and that of NIN is hauntingly powerful. Every time I hear one version, I stop what I'm doing and listen to it. Then I sit in silence as I listen to the other version, and let the song consume me. They are powerful lyrics.

  • 1230 people dont like this??for sure they are all cinese comunist.

  • @crosscountrytc THANK YOU

  • Great Video. Check out my channel for an original Johnny Cash and Dale Earnhardt SR Tribute song and video. Any fan of either will love it. You will never be forgotten!

  • R.I.P Johnny Cash

  • love this song

  • love this song!!! watch?v=TZbIPsrpVYE <---- these are good!!

  • @BATTLEFIELDvett I know how it is when it comes to spelling. A High IQ doesn't mean really a lot now a days, it's how you use it that differs you from everyone else. Bad spelling comes from dyslexia, witch, i suffer from on a daily basis. Hang in there man, i know how it is, and i feel your pain.

  • @firebrand83 Forgive me for perhaps sounding like an ignorant ass, but it seems like you suffer from Dysgraphia as opposed toDyslexia.

  • "Everyone I know, goes away in the end" so sad and true...

  • @TheSoleOwl One of the bad things when being immortal.

  • best song ever by cash.

  • thank you johnny miss you

  • BULL SHIT HE DIED..... I LOVE YOU JOHNNY CASH, ALONG WITH THE REST OF THE WORLD. REST IN PEACE MY BROTHER. YOU ARE MISSED EVERY DAY.

  • What have I become, my sweetest friend...?

  • Why is Nelly Furtado the first result on the sidebar....

  • @mhmikdatsright Views do not equal talent. Kesha has more views than Christina. Let me put something into perspective for you. Cash WROTE over 1,000 songs, sold more than 90 million albums, won 11 Grammys and has over a dozen #1 hits. Christina writes very few of her songs, has 4 Grammys and hasn't even outsold Britney Spears in total album sales worldwide. Johnny competed against the likes of the Beatles and even outsold them in the 60s. Nice try though.

  • @crosscountrytc wooow u found this all out by yourself? ur smart!!! thanks for letting us know #sarcasm

  • @crosscountrytc wouldn't matter if he had sold one record in all his life,he'd still be great

  • @crosscountrytc They've deleted their comment, but I can guess what it was, how retarded it was, and why they - rightly - were ashamed to have made it.

  • It gave me the chills when they showed Johnny's wife and him spilling the wine.

  • The thumbs up if the gow triler brought you here :D

  • Everytime I have my birthday (March 1st) I can say "Happy Anniversary to you Johnny and June! You both had a wonderful marriage and your still together in the after life..."

  • If you like Johnny Cash watch our video

    /watch?v=PwpRKW01acE&list=LL-M9WG94R8TM-95OIjdlTEg&feature=mh_lolz

  • 1228 people got a heart cold as stone! This is a masterpiece of music! and believe me i usually hear hiphop, dubstep and electro!!!

  • he wrote this song.he did it at a concert but didnt publish it

  • @cianboy97 Trent Reznor did this song on the Downward Spiral CD in 94. I went to the concert. Cash did this years later after his wife died.

  • This is a GREAT song... I like it soooo !!! :)

I covered is yesterday on this video

    youtube.com/watch?v=rYOsgJlSBq4&feature=youtu.be

  • ...

  • This has to be in my opinion one of the saddest songs ever!! (His version)

  • "my empire of dirt"...wow...what a metaphor. its very true...we can strive for a higher standard of living, but it can crash down on us. for reasons, simply beyond us...

  • houndred? :(

  • This song reflects my life so completely... except for the needle... However, alcohol is not a better replacement.

  • I don't really know much of NIN, but i think it's awesome that Johnny Cash proved he wasn't bound by the genre he played in. NIN is totally outside of what he produces and the fact that he exposed himself to such a wide range of music that he found this song is amazing. Even though he was unfamiliar with the type of music, he connected with the lyrics and made them his own.

  • Nothing short of legendary to his fans... Just another poor sinner to himself.... Pure American

  • Not a big fan of country but this song is good

  • possibly the greatest cover in rock and country history

  • This should not have been a cover, Johnny knows hurt, Nine Inch Nails doesn't know anything like he went through

  • @iamdudemus what do you mean? could you specify why cash knows and nine inch nails does not if you would be so kind.

  • @onegg04 watch Walk The Line, youll understand what he went through.

  • Johnny Cash will NEVER die, and NEVER will there be anyone like him. Mr. Cash is an every once-in-a-millenium type of phenomenon.

  • I practice wrestling to this song I'm only 16

  • Outstanding

  • it cuts so deep and hurts so sweet - one of my favorite songs. thx 4 all that emotional moments. u know to touch our souls - ur devotional fan

  • @goodkind2010 wasnt written by him though go comment on nins original

  • @NexCarnifex: gotcha - no question why none s talking bout the nin-version - not worth mentioning 2 my opinion - im sorry

  • I cant express my feelings..I'm just sitting infront of my computer crying like a kid who lost his parents and realising that i don't even know this man personally. But he is still able to convey his feelings in an other form: Music! Fantastic. Thanks for shareing this with the world!

  • much love johnny hope to drink a cold one with ya in the afterlife

    R.I.P

  • r.i.p johnny loved by so many <3

  • Merci pour cette vidéo que je dédie à tous ceux qui aiment JOHNNY CASH comme moi.

  • GOOD SONG!!!!

    R.I.P.JOHNNY CASH

    THANK YOU FOR POSTING

  • this should be Americas modern nashional anthem

  • @BATTLEFIELDvett credited to trent reznor

  • @BATTLEFIELDvett UMMMM Thats funny how you spelt National wrong... What has happened to this country?

  • @skyym10 Listen, I understand where you are coming from. I suck at spelling, but I have an extreamly high IQ score. probebly higher than you. so please enough with the ignorance. And by the way, that is an example of one of the problems in America. people focus on spelling or math as someones intelegance when they are the stupid ones. school is just a way to train people to fall in line and do as they're told. to learn the basics of geting a boaring midle class life. and to not question

  • @BATTLEFIELDvett 14 people can not spell

  • @BATTLEFIELDvett 'National', I'm guessing you don't speak English as your mother tongue.

  • @The505Guys It was a Fucking mistake. Get over it you little bitch.

  • @BATTLEFIELDvett Little bitch? Why the hostility? I assumed, since your comment was presumably written with real insight into the song, then you would want your English language skills to improve and, in whatever country you live in, you could therefore speak both English and whatever your native language is. :)

  • @The505Guys I've been getting so much Fucking hate over that comment. this is why I reacted in a harsh way. It would be best if don't fucking reply.

  • @BATTLEFIELDvett I hope you don't originate from this America place, I guess you mean that shitty country they call USA... Your spelling sucks, nice education you got!

  • @iommi88 No, I don't come frome the U.S.A. I can relate this song to America. how America has basically become a "no freedom shit hole zone". As the lyric in the song "what have I become" explains modern America as it stands. So please, enough with the ignorance. by the way, your comment makes you look like a complete fucking idiot. you base someones education on there spelling skills...... what a smart mind you got!

  • @BATTLEFIELDvett Lol. Nice irony there

  • @BATTLEFIELDvett This song has nothing to do with America. It was a Nine Inch Nails song cover moron. I am from Nashville, TN. Yes, Where Johnny lived. He was a patriotic man and loved his country. He lost his wife, June Carter Cash, thus he is depressed and alone. He died not very long after this.

  • @dawnremains I understand that, but I related it with America.

  • @BATTLEFIELDvett To each his own. However, his song "God is gonna cut you down", is good.

  • @BATTLEFIELDvett You can't even mention america or americans without being ridiculed or insulted. The constant sterotypes of ignorant people who haven't even step ground there. And im not talking about you just the people replying to you in a harsh and random way.

  • @BATTLEFIELDvett The Man in Black just spit on 26 people.

  • i typed eminem.. how the fuck is it possible to get here?

  • @sjenkie9966 youtube is trying to convert you over to the good side of music

  • @sjenkie9966 Its a sign from higher beings.

  • @foxman105 f'ing true

  • Pure emotion! ♥ RIP J.R.

  • what it says at 1:48 ? maybe it's from Walk the Line ?

  • This is a song that made men cry like babies

  • Glad before his death back in 2003, Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails got Johnny Cash's permission to do a cover of "Hurt". Thank you, Mr. Reznor for letting him do a cover of your song before he passed away. The legend of Johnny Cash will never die. I've seen "Walk The Line". It was a good movie. It was about his life in particular. He fell into burning rings of fire, performed "Ring Of Fire" at a prison because they loved his music. He had just about everything. No regrets whatsoever.

  • Why do all the best singers have to die to soon :(

  • This song brings a tear to my eye at the thought one of the worlds greatest artists is never around but he will live on forever in his music. Gone but certainly not forgotten we will always cherish what you did for the music industry Johnny Cash.

  • This isn't only a song - it's a masterpiece.

When i heard this the first time, I was speechless. And now after houndred of replays I'm always again speechless.

Johnny Cash was more than a country singer. He's a legendary musician, who should be always in our minds. Also after his death.

    RIP Johnny Cash

  • @MrSwarley93 it wasnt written by jhonney cash you know

  • @NexCarnifex sure, i know, it was written by a rock band or whatever. Anyway, it was fundamentally different from Johnny Cashs version. And i never said, that Johnny Cash wrote the song, i only said that it's fantastic ;)

  • ya this is wiked

  • WHY HE IS GONE???????????

  • Any thing by Johny Cash is good, I loved the video! Definitely brings tears to your eyes :*{

*The Man In Black* will never die, he lives on in his music!

  • R.I.P Johnny

  • oh my god, chills and tears running down my face. awsome song.

  • Just can't keep the tears back. This song brings some memories of my life even though I am only 15. I love this song with some passion. It's sad he died not long after he sang this song.

  • I listen to this at least once a week ;o) ....incedibly powerful. He was the man!!

  • Even though im young, I think Johnny Cash's songs are better than any song thats out today

  • i hate how he didn't write the song

  • Sends chills down my back

  • I love Johnny Cash and his performance of this song. However, this is a ridiculously easy song to sing and play. Anyone could have put this together.

  • @bottledsoul well aren't you just a negative nancy

  • @bottledsoul That may be true, but the emotional undertones that you hear from his voice while singing it is a little deeper than simply a performance. Sounds eerily too true of a man coming to terms with his own mortality and reflections of his life. Of all of his last songs, to me.. this one seems to have more personal emotion poured into it.

  • @bottledsoul Very true. But as with anything in life, the most powerful truths are the simplest. There are very few artists who can or could sink an entire lifetime of emotion into those notes and words.

  • For real, how can you dislike this?

  • not being funny but how has this video got only 29,907,067 and baby by justin beiber has 695,268,822? Something is very wrong with this world :/

  • @danbunchjr It's because of throngs of teenage girls that would love to have his baby. Oh well.

  • Ahaha 2x speed sounds like bieber

  • @PatrioticPoison first off all, no. 2nd of all, youre a retard. 3rd. just no

  • @Niklastard Yes. I'm pretty sure my IQ is > 70. Why are you repeating yourself?

  • Two videos of this song; one with 30 million and another with 38 million. 68 million people in this world still know what good music is : )

  • @DTJesse I like your sentiment, but I think about 1,000 of the views are from me alone, and I'm sure there are others out there like me. It's been almost ten years since your passing Johnny, and your voice is still heard the world over.

    Rest in peace, friend.
