@dexter1673138 REAL BALL PYTHONS DON'T ALWAYS TAKE LIVE. 1) They are picky eaters and the owner doesn't want the snake to starve 2) If supervised, even if the rat gets the snake, the owner can jump in quick and take the rat out 3) Yes, it's as good as live, but not all BP's will take it as readily, especially if it's from a pet store like Petsmart or Petco. Yes, all the books'll tell you to feed f/t, doesn't mean the snake will always take it.

well its not natural, for one the snake is in a tank, 2 the rat has been bred for feeding, which is by no means natural, 3, the rat can't escape, and in the wild the snake would have to hunt down its food and not have it placed in front of it.

I never said it was natural. It doesn't have to be. You think it's natural to have a small saltwater reef in a living room in a desert or to have large predators living in our homes as best friends. Ball Pythons in the Wild don't Chase anything down at all. Ball pythons in the wild find Rodent burrows and slither on down and eat whatever lives in there. Thats not really hunting because they spend the hot days in the burrows and termite mounds anyways.

Plus they are noctural so feeding it in daylight is always a gamble, they also like quite around them. I find some snakes will eat in front of you, and others won't, its just luck of the draw on what yours acts like.
