Tysons fight against Douglas (who was barely ranked at all) was just supposed to be an exhibition bout in Japan. Holyfield and Tysoan were due to fight in 1991 (but Tyson pulled out with a rib/abdominal injury, so Bert Cooper was his replacement.

I remember when Holyfield brutally exposed Mike Tyson in 11 one sided rounds. Mike couldn't control himself and decided to bite half of his ear off in the rematch, after things began heading in the same direction. Poor Mike was overrated by large sections of the American media because he was blowing away tomato cans and has beens like Bonecrusher Smith. His best win came against a fading light-heavyweight who had never fought at heavyweight before. Unlike Lennox who beat Mike + Holyfield easily.

Lewis was able2capitalize on Tyson's jail term2reign as champion, then got out b4 the Klitchko bros cud undo the legacy he has manufactured4himself. He stayed an extra 4 years as an amateur2win a gold metal against younger opponents. He then became champ only because Bowe gave up the title. He backed out of Tyson's way as he was climbing back up2regain the belt that was handed2him. I believe that history will judge him4the fake that he truly is.

The problem is Jamaican fighter have weak chins and most lewis nuthuggers are either jamaican or brits.They're so biased towards Lewis,they're blinded with the truth about lewis.He was a good fighter but had that suseptablity and always wavered in the breeze when anyone landed a shot on him.All you lewis nuthuggers probably pissed your pants everytime someone landed a shot on him..He used his self preservasion boring skill steward taught him later in his career to avoid getting ko'd 2 more times

@Superwhodatt The shot from Rahman, if you look Lewis was laughing at the time (stupid) the punch landed as clean as I've seen a punch land, the Mccall punch knocked Lewis off balance something which Emmanuel Steward would rectify, the Mccall punch I just don't see as a KO, Lewis was on his feet by 6 and was in no worse condition than say Holyfield was in the 11th against Bowe yet he was allowed to continue fighting.

Quite right, Lewis was NOT Ko'd by McCall, up at 6, beat the count but not the referee....
Lewis was only down twice in his career as you say. That is one of the best ever records. It simply meant that he saw nearly everything in time. Ali was reputedly KO'd in sparring by Ellis, from a rare shot he didn't see.
Henry Cooper dropped Ali for the same reason, no one says Ali had a glass chin or wasn't in the top 5 or 10.

@farrell360 TYson fought everyone out there for 3 years when he was in his best ability in his early 20's,2 undefeated fighters,2 exchamps,etc. He did great.He tied frazier for title defenses.the problem was tyson did it before his 22nd birthday.Never been done in history and never will be done ,ever.Put that in your pipes and smoke it!

@fadethetrade Sure, checked boxrec and in 1989 Lewis had his first professional fight. Then spent the next twenty fights winning the British, Commonwealth and European titles and in 1993 won a world championship against Tucker. A pretty normal route to take, thereafter consistantly fights recognisable big names ending his career 41-2 holding a bunch of belts punching Vitalli's face off. I think you disrespect a lot of fighters by giving Lewis zero credit. For a time he was the best in the biz.

Bruno won a title, Tua beat several fighters in their prime, who won a title. So he must have been championship caliber. Ruddock took Tyson the distance, so was probably capable of winning a belt.
Holyfield was not washed up. He had shoulder problems later, may account for his stoppage by Toney.
Holyfield peaked at 34, 36 when fought Lewis. Lewis pushed Tyson away so he couldn't hold.
