Actually this is NOT Béla Tarr's first ever movie. He made his first short documentary when he was 16. And even his first feature, Családi tűzfészek (Family Nest) was made before Hotel Magnezit. Family Nest was filmed in 1977 (when he was 22), before Tarr was accepted to the Hungarian state film school, but only premiered in cinemas in 1979. This was a student film of his at the school.
I would love to have a transcript of the film... Could you please help the non Hungarian Tarr fans by posting a transcript of what happens in the movie.?
