I see that you are using iMovie to edit. I use it also, but HATE the vignette. I would love to put a vignette on my videos but the iMovie one is just to much! Its too black all around the screen. Looks like your looking through a hole. My only regret about iMovie
@mecha890 Next time you shoot a video, of a car, make sure to blur out the License plate number. Not trying to be a douche, just giving you a future reference.
@brammetje63 flickery footage can just be to bad handling of the camera or post issues like cutting time code and scenes with overlapping elements giving it that rolling shutter kinda feeling.
just bad cinematic xD learn from me and have a steady hand; a good shot and composition & future with the footage.
hey man just a heads up the t2i is a good camera. the "jello effect" is caused by the lens you buy, either the stock or just simply buying the wrong type of lens, so just look out for that if you decide to buy lens for it, also i noticed your shutter is too high is it exceeds 1/50 it will change from 24fps to 30 or 60 depending on what your speed was, another prob. might be the codec you cut it on. well it's an awesome camera to tell you the truth and with basic compositing you can go far,
@gruponemesis no magic bullets on this^^ i use color now anyways but this is horribly color corrected in iMovie when i did it. Only changing the color balance to give the footage a noticable yellow-green tinge
@LandScapeProd I dont think I converted the footage intentionally (its .mov) because of how well mac osx handles the format when using iMovie or Final Cut Pro. I only change the codec when i need to be quick about editing footage (which should be standard practice.)
I hope this shows more insight than an answer, I did not know how to answer your question without a little background to why its eating you.
@mecha890 for future reference and what you may have found; editing CANON EOS HD footage at the moment is more workflow approved if you convert your footage into ProRes 422 .
@LandScapeProd imovie converts it automatically or something...adobe premiere edits raw footage without transcoding..and with final cut you need plug in or something...i use adobe premiere so i dont worry about transcoding
@mecha890 You made this in iMovie?! Does the footage go into iMovie easily from this camera? And iMovie works with HD? Really? I hope so, as I have iMovie, and no other program at the moment, and this looks really good having come from iMovie.
Well i remember it being about 12pm or so when i shot this, and at f/1.8 and ISO 100 it would be near 125-500, which might make for some smoother footage, trying to keep the shutter down and f/ stop down are really hard to achieve, and i wanted a shallow DoF.
@mecha890 ok, thanks .. just curious .. i trying to figure out how to get the best film like look .. i ussaly shoot 25p(thank god for PAL) with the shutter on 50 or 100 .. it also depens on the amount of movement in the shot ofcourse .. thanks again :) cheers!
@jodroboxes oh yeah .. i shoot with a 35 mm adapter on a Sony HDV-HC9 camcorder. I'm amazed about what DSLR's can do these day's, the footage looks so NICE! I'll defenitly get one in the future.
its all on my part in post, i use vignetting in my shorts or videos (usually) to kinda give it a bit more depth, and an amateur ish look is what becomes of it and is unpleasing to the eye to almost everyone :/
@mecha890 but 24 fps is what most people like.........all you would need to do is uplaod it to a movie editor....and............render it out at 30 or 24 this guy told me the video quality is no different....

This was cool. I bought a T2i last month...I've recorded some cool footage with it...It's on my page and is it's called "A New York Minute". Take a look and enjoy!!!
The thing that has put me off that camera is the lack of sharpness I was seeing in Youtube and downloaded footage, an almost soft focus. Footage from the zoom (the kit one that goes up to 135mm) looked awful to me, but then I saw footage with the 18 - 55 and it was close-ish to tolerable. It looks as though you are getting great sharpness out of that lens. Assuming there is more than one 50mm f1.8 lens, what is the model number of that one?
@OnceAPunAThyme The longer legs kit lens 135mm etc is known for its lesser quality image than the 18 - 55mm, this lense is a good lense for video, it has sweet spots in the range and is not bad for the price, the 17-55 is much better but a lot more expensive.
its intentional. I pull focus cause of the low depth of field, i like to switch to show difference between fore and background.
The Auto-Focus motor on the camera is a little loud :/ and it "hunts" for a target by pulling focus all the way back then metering until it gets to a point it hits.
Manual focus is much preferred. thanks for watching^^

@brammetje63 ...flickery? like un-stable? constantly moving?

@mecha890 I guess it's because you were filming out of a car at that moment. So you were moving and the cars you were filming were also moving.

can you hear the focus wheel in your footage? in manual mode
bags1817 1 year ago
@bags1817 depending on which lenses you use.
my old FD lens there is no noise from the motor or the scraping of the plastic but on the kit lens you can hear it.
basically any lens that is not USM (ultra sonic motor) or old manual focus FD mount lenses to my experience.

@bags1817 also i would invest in an off camera mic which you can either use as a boom or shotgun.

why would you get this.......waste of money its SAME QUALITY OF THE T1ik
RedPanther1 1 year ago
@RedPanther1
Uuderstand the T1i has only 30p and 20p, which are neither film speeds.
also, the T2i is more built to be a proper HDSLR
mecha890 1 year ago
@mecha890 but 24 fps is what most people like.........all you would need to do is uplaod it to a movie editor....and............render it out at 30 or 24 this guy told me the video quality is no different....
RedPanther1 1 year ago
@RedPanther1 Ill just put it in the aspect to why no one uses the T1i for film or video commonly.
30p is a Framerate that is competent for film, but is less used because originally 24 frames was adequate enough to record, and cheap enough to make.
30p though lacks natural motion blur.
20p is not even common, only because it records up above what most Cellphones use, 15 fps. 20p does not have enough frames to record motion properly.
24p is most used, because of its standard.
