u wanna visit copper canyon cause a book..fukin tourist...why not open a McDonald's there to? pls stay away, u only break commercialization to virgin lands and ppl.
If you are an avid runner you either become more technology and achievement focused during the years, or you tend to go the other way. When I run a contest I leave my sports watch at home, heck, I don't even look at the time! I just run for the fun of it. When I started reading Born to Run I realized what I was doing for the past few years: enjoying running instead of worrying about achievement.
One thing no one has pointed out is that the Harahumara shoes shown here and elsewhere are just slightly short of the toes in front. I think that's important, as it allows toes to grasp and bend without running into the sole of the shoe.
After reading "Born to Run" seeing these names and the actual people from the book is amazing. It's like seeing things out of a fiction in real life. I'm so jealous of your adventures. Thanks for uploading so many videos!
Ok Ted. I just read McDougall's "Born to Run" and liked how he portrayed you in the book. I am an expat American living in Switzerland. I want a pair of these sandals. How do I get them or how can I start a distributorship. I have been running for fourty years (since running track in high school) and for the past two weeks have been running in an OLD pair of hard rubber sneakers with NO pain and 2 hours at a pop! A Miracle!!! I need these sandals! I also like your vids!
ha! I made my first pair with barefoot kit...very simple , I purchased a hole punch which I can also use for other things...very easy to strap up but I use the clip with the Raramuri indian tie method...walking today in them for test run...curious about comments or looks I might get.;)
hey to barefoot Ted. Read Born To Run. Keep kicking it you barefoot nut. Loved the book, loved the stories, my very best to Caballo Blanco !!!!!! and Oso!
Actually, it is just how they take care of extra lace when the have a longer (new) lace. Over time it wears out and the ankle wrap becomes less and less.
what is the material of that lace?

one day the Raramuri may be teaching all of us how to tie our shoes.

I'm 3/4 through Born to Run.
I am not a runner but my wife and I want to start this summer. We spend too much time sitting or laying on a couch or bed.
As of today I have started taking my shoes off at work while standing, not sitting, at my cubicle.
Anything that contributes to better balance and better overall health I am game for.
I'd like to visit the Copper Canyons (with help) someday.
Very inspiring.

Hey, I am half way through Born to Run. I don't run, but I think everybody should read the book. Indigenous cultures have a lot to offer.

Does the extra material at the top of the sandal protect his ankle or is this just tradition?
