Lol, you people are pathetic. Stop wasting time behind your computers classifying different techniques and play what feels comfortable. As previously stated, swivel doesn't make you faster. In fact, it's not even really a technique. Eventually, our leg will reach a speed where it moves back and forth to restore energy. It's a natural defense mechanism to prevent the muscles from tiring. Also, swiveling WILL NOT damage your knees, unless you don't know what the fuck you're doing.
guys the swivel techinique doesnt make u any fasters, it relives tension on the shin muslces and spreads to the claf and other muscles so you dont get as much tension. If done wrong, and it doesnt look like hes doing it correctly, can have bad effects on your knees if played at very fast tempos (taken from george kollias, a death metal drummer than uses swivel at 280+bpm)
@goodnamepending It really depends on YOU personally as a drummer. Jojo Mayer,Thomas Lang,Buddy Rich, they all use a different technique because they're different drummers. George Kollias uses swivels because that's what he likes, some metal drummers use hell-toe,some play heel down, some play heel up. And he's not doing the swivel technique wrong.
@Heylee1219 Yes everyone can play their technique differently, but the way hes playing swivel can have severe damage to the knee if played at 220+ tempos (I'm not saying he can't play like that, im just saying he shouldn't swivel his feet as much or he can really damage himself)
@Heylee1219 Also, I you talk to all the fastest drummers that use the "swivel technique" they don't say their using any technique they just use their ankels and let their feet move anywhere they want. I really seems that the swivel technique used by the original players is alot different than the techniques that modern teachers will tell you.

@ @borisisthemusicI tech'd for Dom at a few clinics, it is also a hybrid Moeller technique that works when Dom is playing at faster speeds.

Why do he twist's his foot on the pedal?
borisisthemusic 1 year ago
@borisisthemusic because when you play double bass it helps to speed up double hits
