  • :D...I'll try looking for a conditioner that is more moisturizing than the one I 'm currently using...thanks you so much:D

  • Thank you so much:)...if it's ok I have a couple of questions:) I am just new to this whole CG method and still looking for the products that work for me...So my first question is what

does hair build up feel like? and I notice that when my hair is WET I have curly strands clumped together...which looks like normal curls and then individual hairs will be frizzy out away from the clumps some call it spider web frizz...Do you know what I can do about that?....Thanks again:D

  • @Sherry4477 you don't need to post your question on two videos. i will see it! :) also you can private message me if you want.

if there's build up on your hair it will probably feel gunky and start to look weighed down. if you clarify and the problem is solved, you had buildup. if you are getting frizz when your hair is wet, your hair needs more moisture. the hair reaches outwards to find moisture when its dry and that causes frizz. use a moisturizing conditioner and leave in conditioner :)

  • I checked the ingredients of this gel and it is cone free and all but it has Polyquaternium-4 (it is a polymer and other types are Polyquaternium-7 and Polyquaternium-11)...Anyway some say those are even worse than cones they are so much harder to remove even with sulphate shampoos and others say that they are not all the same...some are easy to remove like that polyquat - 4 while others are som much harder to remove...same does for copolymers...Do you know anything about that?????? plz help

  • @Sherry4477 First off, let me say that polyquats are not my area of expertise. Polyquats are much more variable than silicones, in that some are easy to remove and some are not. My policy is to try a product, and if I notice build up to stop using it. I have been doing a lot of research to try and answer your question--after reading a lot I've come to the conclusion that all polyquats can be removed by a gentle cleanser such as coco betaine, and do not require sulfates cleaners.

  • I have been using the set me up gel for about 5 years now. I'm quite satisfied with it

Weird thing I noticed is that the second half of the bottle makes nicer hair than the first. When I tell this to anybody they say I'm crazy but I have a lot of experience with it and its true!!

Cons: 1) bottle is too small (I get 3-4 at a time). 2) it is difficult to wash off of your hands after you apply. but if you apply to very wet hair and dry after its not so bad for some reason

  • I tried searching for this at 2 different places today and couldn't find it, but they had every other HE gels.. So I got Set Me Up. But I've heard better things about Body Envy. Is it discontinued? Or discontinuing? There wasn't even an empty spot for it :-/

  • @blinkrocker2007 It's not discontinued... just really hard to find. I know Harris Teeter carries it. The Set Me Up is a good gel too, though. :)

  • I recently switched to totally twisted (I used it once before but they stopped selling it at my local drug store. grrrr) The totally twisted had more hold than the other, because everyone is saying that my hair looks curlier, but I still think it doesn't have enough hold. How do you know when your gel doesn't have enough hold? I used the set me up (the blue kind) and I felt like it had TOO much hold because it left my hair super crunchy. but I'm going to re try it in case I just used too much.

  • @WonderfullyDani You know when your gel doesn't have enough hold if you're still getting frizz and the curls go limp towards the end of the day. You have too much hold if there's a crunch that you can't scrunch out! :)

  • @j4prx awww thanks! i'm just so lazy though :)

  • ive been using la looks curl gel for a long time and i love it because it makes my hair look amazing (i have the same exact hair as you!!). but it takes forever to dry! what is your experience with the drying time on this gel?

  • @happysavy i think its about the same, sorry. have you tried diffusing before you go out?

  • your hair looks GREAT!

  • @happyyrainboww thankQ :)

  • i've used the HESMU gel a few times but i'm not too sure how much i like gels. the thing i don't like about gel is that my hair looks pretty good on the first day but after i sleep on it, i lose volume & the curls become kind of matted. lately i have been putting a little leave-in & then using pure aloe vera gel. my hair looks defined but also feels soft. have you ever tried it?

    p.s. i love CG!

p.p.s. any tips for getting used to gel & knowing how much to use would be great!

  • @rainorchid11 i didn't particularly like HESMU because it made my hair really crunchy, so that i couldn't scrunch it out. you might try the HEBE instead. also, how do you sleep on your curls? and do they keep well when you're using aloe vera and a leave in? check out my 2nd day hair videos.

  • @waterlily716 hi again! when i use aloe vera, my 2nd day hair is definitely not as curly but it has a more wavey style that i think still looks pretty good. i like aloe vera because i think i get more volume on 2nd day hair than when i use gel. i'm still going to keep experimenting with gel though! thx for your reply and keep making your videos because they rock! :)

  • @rainorchid11 aloe vera was never enough hold for me, just personally. knowing how much gel to use just comes with experimenting and getting used to it. try out more one day, less the next, til your hair is exactly the way you want it

  • hey what is your haircut

  • @soyacristy all one length. i had face framing layers, but not very many, and i think they grew out.

  • Hey! Thanks for answering my question. I shall try the gel out. Thanks :)

  • @dillywillydude Mission accomplished :) lulz

  • Hi Sarah I need help !! Whenever I wash my hair i put in mouse and styling cream but then when the curls are drying they turn out horrible and not defined at all some parts dont even curl and the back of my head never curls no matter what I do I'm only 12 and I dont get alot of pocket money is there any cheap way I could fix this or is there anything else I could do ? Thanks for your help :)

  • @LaraBabeXxX Hey Lara. :) You should try the curly girl method. It's very cheap! I have two videos on the method or you can google "curly girl method" and the first result is a really good step-by-step guide. If you try it out, message me with any questions you have and I'll be sure to help :)

  • but my hair is extremellllly curly and it neverrr holds curl! like whenever i PUT ANYTHINGGGGG in it. like idk what to use :/ mousse doesn't work and idk what gel to use that doesn't hold enough and actually defines to curlll! :(

  • @drakecakesx3 have you tried biosilk rock hard gelee? that is the hardest hold gel i know of. also make sure to use a leave in cream or conditioner underneath. healthy, moisturized curly hair will be more defined.

  • @waterlily716 what about drugstore gels/hardening creams?

  • @drakecakesx3 you can find biosilk at most drugstores! :) but LA looks sport gel is another good one to try.

  • Like you, I've tried all kinds of drugstore gels, but my HG gel is from Sally's It's the Aura Hypo-Allergenic Styling Gel. I absolutely love this stuff and always end up coming back to it. The best part, if you have a Sally's Rewards Card and you'll sometimes receive a $5.00 off coupon on your receipt. If you keep the coupon and use your reward card, you can buy this gel for less than $1.00 ($0.87 cents for me, to be exact)! :)

Oh yeah, I LOVE your owl necklace.

  • @mldavis79 I'll have to try that one. Unfortunately I don't live near a sally's nemore :(

oh and the owl necklace is about a buck on ebay!!

  • I LOVE your owl necklace!!!!!

  • Any chance of a demo on how you use it to define your curls?:-)

  • @cj11tokyo well if you go to my profile and go to "curly hair basics" playlist, there's two wet styling videos. :) I used this gel in my first one, but I use the newer routine I have. (I switch out products more often than routines.)

  • This was my fave gel, but they stopped selling it in my area about a year ago, and I went thru all my back ups=(. Set Me Up is good, but Body Envy gave me the ringlety and defined curls that I love. Your hair looks great BTW!

  • @dingdongs210 ditto. LALSG is the bomb.

  • love your videos!! so random question- what nail polish is that and where is it from?! haha...

  • @dingdongs210 revlon and i got it a target the other day. :) it's toothpaste color lol

  • :) I have that necklacee, and i love your hair!!! My hair's the same except its super long and frizzy, i've tried like every gel on my hair and nothings been working because I don't want my hair to be stringy and crunchy, so i'm gonna try this one out!

  • @morganwtk i love this necklace. lol, i got it off ebay. :) you should also check out the curly girl method. (just google and my article will pop up.) it's the method you try when nothing else works! good luck :)

  • @waterlily716 haha thank you i definitely will try it! (:

  • @morganwtk also do you scrunch your hair once it's dry?

  • @waterlily716 No I never scrunch my hair, i sometimes plop but when i don't have time to i just towel dry it

  • @morganwtk i mean- once your hair is ALL the way dry, try scrunch it to get rid of that crunchy texture.
