why are french tv shows dubbed? I just can't get it.

@sup3a English is not our mother tongue... Imagine, you go to work for about 8-10 hours a day, work your a... off, then you run all your errands, go home, take care of the kids, tuck them in, grab something to eat, then at last you kick back in the couch, and try to watch a foreign tv show in a language that is not your mother tongue and/or you neither speak nor even understand... and even with subtitles, you'll focus on the subs, not on the plot... It would be useless, don't you think? ;-)

@cedrock95 Wow. That's so dumb, how come us Finns can do it then? We work 8-10 hours a day, we run our errands, we go home, do household errands, grab something to eat, kick back on the couch, watch foreign TV shows with subtitles or without them and understand everything with no trouble at all. How do you explain that? Dubbing is rather dumb.

@Zeroi my former comment was just an explanation, not a criticism towards other countries, nor was it meant to compare countries. But if you want to explain why Finns can do it and French can't, I guess that is because you guys have one of the best educational systems in Europe (not kidding)... France has a poor Educational system especially when it comes to Foreign languages. So the average French man in the streets (or outside of big cities) doesn't speak English... that's it.
