this is possibly the only band I will say 'Sold Out'. It wasnt just that they wrote some "catchy songs that the radio liked".... Calebs voice and vocals totally changed, not as woody or gritty as they used to be, their full image changed as well. Maybe sold out is an exaggeration, but they certainly changed what KOL was to make more money and get more airplay. Not to mention they add loads of reverb to absolutely everything nowaydays. Bring back Red Morning Light and Mollys Chambers.
@mwellbass can you complain about going from wearing clothes 2x too small from a goddamn thrift store to spoiling yourself, there definatly greatful foreverthing they have and yeah they change there sound but they wanted to experiment with all types of music, any good muscian can rock anything, and kol does that very well, not looking for an arguement just sayin man
@mwellbass most bands change image, that doesnt necessarily mean theyr sell outs! n the beginning calebs words were a little more mumbled...he admitted that n an interview & stated that was mostly bcuz he didnt want his parents (particularly his mom) to know what he was singing about. as for tone, i think it sounds the same but ur entitled to ur opinion! as for image, most bands change their image when they become famous! even the greats like: the stones,zeppelin judas priest, the beatles,etc

I'm pretty sure that they would have released that cd just the way it was even if they didn't even have that many "older fans". it's not like we really have a contributing factor in how they decide to sing, play, what they write about etc. The fans didn't make them famous they did it themselves. So who gives a fuck if you knew them from the beginning, i don't care and i'm sure they don't give a rat's ass either. If you have dedication, it doesn't matter you you knew them for 5 years or 5 days.

@JackDavis16 i think its just a lack of advertisement...no one down under had ever heard of them until sex on fire.. same case with me, only after i looked into them i cant get enough of em...thats to say all their albums...if they come back to aus they'll get much bigger crowds.

@muzicsalesman I have a rs subscription & read that interview twice & dont remember seeing/reading anything like that! Ive also read & watched other interviews w/ them & again never heard them say such a thing! however, ive heard them (i think,caleb) say he didnt like how "commercial" things were becoming after "sex on fire" became a hit! he admitted that he didnt like the direction they were going but he never used the words "sell out"i dont think u should claim things like that w/o proof!

@muzicsalesman most bands change their image when they become well known! its actually pretty rare for a band to not change their image! presently the only bands that dont really change their image r metal bands but back n the 70s when it was new, even they change their image from flowy floral print shirts to dark leather & chains...point being most bands change once theyr recognized & become famous! kol is no different & certainly not the 1st or last to change their image!

omgosh ur so right here in mexico the only songs they knpw are sex on fire and use somebody. im was totally pissed when they were sold out and then i found out some girls from my church were going...they dont even know any of the songs of of only by the night except for those two. i asked how many cds they have and they said "1??" i wanted to slap them
