I just got this amp an i got 2 12" Fosgate hx2 subs in non ported box! Is this a 600watt amp? Cause it says on this box the maximum is 1800 watts! rockford fosgate p6002 amp! I bought a 640 watt wiring kit from walmart, is that enough?? Or do i need to buy an 1800 watt wiring kit with a capasitor? Even if i use the 640 watt wiring kit, do you reccomend a capasitor! I got a 1993 240sx! And im not wanting to kill my alternator or battery like i did with my old system. It didnt have a capasitor !!

I can only go to volume 20 and the loudness is turned off on deck. It too much for my ears passed 20. It is just damn loud, but its a small car. I might switch to a sedan and move my system into that.

I do not need any more than that, so 1000 watt bd amp would probably blow those subs easily. My amp is more match for the p2 from 10's, 12's, and 15's with paired.

2.5CuFt per sub is too much for those in a sealed enclosure, the recommended ported volume for those (on the RF website) is 2.66CuFt, Sealed is 1.58CuFt. Build a box to that and you're going to get better sound!

You guys are right, I must have clicked on the wrong one on the site. I have the P3 12"s and those are only recommended up to 1.25cuft, so more than twice that for a lower powered sub seems crazy. That extra surface area apparently makes a much larger difference than I had thought!

a small sealed box would make clearer bass, a larger box should be ported, a ported box (tuned correctly) will give you better extension and louder bass. some people prefer small sealed boxes

Most people prefer small sealed box, I have heard lots of big sealed boxs and as long as the deminsions are not too far off normally sounds great if not better because the specs they give you for subs are modest at best, they want there subs to fit in most cars and most cars dont have enough space. The spl will be the same face it forward or back but with the seats folded down it will sound like more bass because all the bass is movin forward, instead of bouncin off the trunk.

it shouldn't. all bass waves have nulls and peak points. facing them into the trunk should pressurize that part more beacuse of the reflections and create a louder bass, theoretically... if you aim them out the window they wont sound as loud. just because subs in your car sound loud, once you put them outside their sound pressure level plummets. small area, the sub moves more air making it loud, big room, sub doesnt move much air thus giving you little to no bass.

It's does, I know for a fact in any car you put the back seat down and face the subs forward and they will "sound" louder. Many people frown on this because its a rookie move. Doesnt make more bass but all the sound is boucin off the windshield instead of the trunk. Giving the illusion of more bass. Since your head is closer to the windshield than the trunk...

Yeah, if you face them up towards the roof, it will pound so hard. I tested that with my system.... i first put the subs facing away from me and it sounded "alright", and then i put it facing the roof of my van and man did it pound!!! I know a sony xplod sub(my sub) isn't that cool but the way i have it set up really makes it pound. I have it hooked up to a Boss Diablo amp and am looking to get 2 15" subs just like the video.

i actualy have sold my rockford subs and i am going for kenwood subs. the kenwoods are rated at around 20 hrz and the rockfords are around 30 so the kenwoods will have a deaper sound to them and should hit a hell of a lot louder. but i have to get kenwoods massive 1800 watt amp to power them then lol. i gotta save it up first lol. 150 for 2 12's through crutchfield and 399 for the bigger amp. cant wait lol. will be posting up when done though.

honestly sony subs are not that bad realy there ok. i had a sont explode deck at one time paid almost 400 bucks for it. it wasnt very good for sound quality and distorted everything. i have a vid of my explode deck and my new kenwood deck i just got. the kenwood was 300 a year ago. it has 5 volt pre outs and the sound quality is sooooooo much better. if you watch the vids everything is the same just different decks. sony then kenwood. the kenwood is soooo much louder as well.

i do have to agree with you about the kenwood deck. I have one that i paid about $130 and man is it nice! It also has a built in 200 watt amplifier! Technology has advanced so much in the last decade. I am saving up to get either a pioneer 12" 6000w sub or an 18" fi btl sub fully loaded. Amp for both the 18" and 12" is a warlord 5000w if i get the system. I accidentally pulled the wires out of the sub moving the box and fried the amp so now i have hardly any bass at all. :(
