Hi I was looking to get a savannah cat. I actually love cats and dogs but cannot get a dog because I'm out of town and work sometimes 12 hours in a day. Do you recommend a savannah? Are they OK being left 12 hours at a time? Can they be left alone for a couple days or a weekend (with the TV on and plenty of toys and an automatic feeder?)

Also are savannahs calm sometimes? do they like to cuddle/ sleep in bed with people?

@aderollerolls: f1, f2, etc are the generations removed from a wild cat. f2 is 2 generations removed, so there is still some potential for wildness to show up in the animal.

first generation and second, first generation (usually aorund 50% serval) are much more expensive than second (somewhere around 30% serval). first is around 15-20k, F2 are around 2-5k. There are also F3, F4, and F5 generations, each cheaper the further from F1 they get, with f5's around 1-2k.

@supertamal2000 Humm Not quite sure and don't take my word for it. I think it's generation wise like f1 being the first cats that came directly down from a Serval(?) and a domestic while an f2 being the generation down from the f1.

@supertamal2000 There are 3 types, F1, F2, F3. F1 and F2 have stronger genetics of the serval cat (savannah cats are hybrid animals, it is a mix of Serval and domestic cat). The F1, F2, F3 has to do with how much of the serval it has in it

@supertamal2000 Line of generation, higher the number, lower percentage of the wild cat and higher percentage of a domestic breed. My Savannah boy is an F5, he's about 16% African Serval but still a strong and destructive boy. He's lucky I love him and put up with his bratty ways. <3
