  • @JAMESAPETEET Thats what I'm saying...

  • Dude you are feelin it! Cool!

  • Yea Man ... Work dat Hook !!

  • Word this is dope. Really awesome tribute.

  • Good job. I've been meaning to learn this bassline. It's so slick.

And to 86tonio86: he's playing with only one finger because that's how James Jamerson, the bassist on this song used to play. "The Hook". Good tribute.

  • Good job, but why do you use only one finger?

  • He probably only used one finger because that's the way James Jamerson played- it was his signature technique, and it worked very well.

  • Bravo, dude! It's so great to hear a young guy appreciate an old classic and do quite well.

  • pretty KooL

  • go head boy!!!!

  • Cool I will. I'm starting next month.

  • Dude you cuttin up with that joint....LOL Awesome.

  • Man let's start a band. I am a drummer that has been looking for a bass player that can groove to stuff like this my whole life!! Great job F#CK the negative comments,

  • Excellent!!

  • FINALLY! Someone who realizes that song has one of the siiiiiickest basslines ever! And you definitely did it justice!

    ---------------

    and reflect.

  • I never saw anyone play the way you do with your fingers.

  • Thats the way Jamerson played. They called his one finger "The Hook".

  • Great job, I love this song, the instrumentation is awesome, I want to learn to play the bass, how long have you been playing?

  • i've been playing since march!@ just start, any time.

  • Nice jeans.

  • ooo i love this! great job dude :D

  • Good technically, but no feel. You have to learn to play with soul and feeling.

  • Really Cool, I am a huge fan of James Jamerson and appreciate the one finger thing you have happening. However you can play more advanced techniques and styles along the lines of players like, Steve Bailey, Jeff Berlin, Jaco, to name a few if you were to use your other fingers.

  • Pleasa does anyone have bass tabs for this song. I really need it !

  • you gotta use your ears... really its gonna make you much better faster!

  • This is true, but I am not so good bass player, so it would really help if you would get me tablatures!

  • Please, does anyone have bass tabs for this song ?? I really need it !

  • I see that you have the Jamerson thing going on with the one finger, i lve that i'm actually doing the same thing and working on Jamersons technique, good job man

  • nice :)

  • good job but training your milddle finger to walk the strings would make you play faster.

  • oh god, i LOVE this song soooo much :D very NICE

  • Dude that was good. Excellent work!

  • Well Done! :)

  • Ok, Playa !!!

  • hey man..that don't look easy..gr8 job.

  • dude got soul :-)

  • spectacular! you have one hell of a fast hook finger!

  • Superior!

  • Nice!! And you even hooked it like James!!

  • I think Stevie Wonder played the bass on a less complicated version of the song but this line is Jamerson's.

  • Stevie Wonder wrote the music and lyrics, and James Jamerson played the bass. I have the sheet music in front of me. Jamerson took the chord progressions and went from there with the bass line.

  • stevie did not get credit for this

  • stevie wonder played the bass on its' a shame... he also played the piano and drums....plus wrote the track............

  • No sir, james jamerson played the bass. Stevie HELPED play the drums along side uriel jones and pistol allen, that's Robert White and Dennis Coffey on the two Guitars and Jack Ashford on the Tamborine. See standing in the shadows of Motown and other Motown history.

  • You're correct -that's definely Stevie Wonder playing bass on that track. If you've listened to enough Stevie and Jamerson, it doesn't even sound like Jamerson because it's not as clean.

Many people believe it's Jamerson, but in this case it's not.

  • stevie wrote the song but jamerson played bass on it. only reason it sounds different is because it was recorded in 1970. the recording process became much more precise by then.

  • that's hella good. i tried my bit at guitar but it's sitting in my closet collecting dust. keep it up and it's nice to see young people like myself who appreciate old school motown. haha

  • Great job!! Very fluent and clean!
