@lalwanimoti-"Manmor" is indeed one of the best songs ever and one just cannot think of anybody else singing it better than Suraiya. Yes, one can imagine Dada Burman himself doing a great job of singing it.
It is like a full orchestra is coming from her vocal chords. What a gift to India and the whole subcontinent. There never will be another voice like her. Lucky are the men and women who listened to her while sitting in her company. I hope she is singing in heaven to those boring angels.
one of the songs from Radio Ceylon I used to wake up to back in my school days....used to make the transition from sleep to wakefulness so pleasant...wow...I have shared this on my FB page :)
Suraiya was a fine singer-actree. She immortalised some of Ghalib's great Ghazals when she acted/sang in the film Mirza Ghalib directed by Sohrab Modi. The music was by Ghulam Mohammad. Those of you who have not heard these ghazals may look for them on YouTube. 'Rahiye ab Aisi Jagah Chal kar jahan koi na ho', 'Dil-e-nadan thujhe hua kya hai' with Talat Mehmood are memorable.
Super Collection I really like it, I used to listen these songs on Radio Celon SWR 25M like 7.30 am to 8 am. like in the 1970. Thanks for these super uploads.
Believe Suraiya told SD Burman that she cannot carry through this song as it was too difficult a tune. With SD's persistence, what a gem has been created by Suraiyya and SD Burman here! Thanks for posting!
@chottamunna On Vividh Bharati, broadcast on Poona station, Surraiya had said about this song, "Dev Anand ki film Afsar jab ban rahi thi to Burman dada ne mere liye ek geet tayyaar kiya. Burman dada is geet ko itna achchha gaate the ki maine Dev Anand se kaha ki kyun na situation badal dee jaaye aur is geet ko Burman dada hi gaaye lekin Burman dada naheen raazi huye, kehne lage ki yeh geet khaas taur se tumhare liye banaya hai, isliye tumhe hi gaana hoga. Khair, maine hi woh geet gaaya."

Thanks to Radio Ceylon (SLBC) for keeping the best songs of yester years alive. I only heard it on Radio Ceylon on July 31, 2009 during morning transmission. Searched my database. And posted it to complete the work of Radio Ceylon.

I love this song of Suraiya. In my opinion it is one of her best songs..Oh Suraiya -- wish I was young to see her crossing Marine Lines...
