It's drop C, listen when they hit the ever so famous metal open chord lol. Chunky is just the way you strum it, doesn't really have much to do with tuning, tuning is changed to match the singers key. Since most metal uses that open note, if they habe a lower pitched singer they tune down obviously w/e it's common sense. Love ADTR wooooooooooooooot!

if you know guitars at all, you will get that it makes a HUGE difference what tuning it is in. Any band playing in drop C or Drop A or anything will not be able to sound the same in D or E especially because in E you can bar power chords and make it sound heavy.

Hahaha I've played for 10 years and I did not know that. I'm pretty sure playing in E is an arbitrary argument, I didn't say anything about it. Playing in Drop D, C, and A# are ALL equivalent, just one and two steps apart from each other; therefore, it shouldn't matter much because it's in the same key.

ha, if you listen to the records its easy to tell how chunky it is...listen to a reletively hard song with bar chords, i know theres harder but we'll say "iron man" then listen to somethin in drop D, such as joker and the thief, by wolfmother, its around the same place as iron man is played, but its drop d and its a lot chunkier, then just listen to say ADTR, which is mostly drop d,its even chunkier, then listen to some say slipknot, which i believe A, at least some of it, its even chunkier
