Hendrix and Page were kings of the 60s and 70s as EVH was of the 80s. slash is 'todays jimmy page' to quote john 5. The best guitarist is a matter of perspective and opinion. as for why slash>kirk hammet, slash has more style, melody and feeling imo and learned everything he has himself.
