If they gad gone out and casted professional singers for this particular show it would have lost it's magnetic allure. The show wouldn't have been a hit. Look at Camelot, My Fair Lady, Oliver etc, etc, etc, not to mention Sound of Music and Fiddler of the Roof. Audiences, who pay the price, know better. Wouldn't you say? If you're going to criticize then first do your homework. OK?

Okay this review was total BS!

The acting, singing, dancing... all were excellent!

And the songs were totally built into the rhythm of the movie. Love ABBA and love Mamma mia!!

This was an amazing movie!

Yes, it was different than the stage version, but that is generally the point when a stage musical is adapted to the screen. It was not meant to compete with the stage version or be better, it was a work in itself. I personally enjoyed it immensely.

Matt Pais is a tool complete with bag. I've watched about a dozen of his "reviews", and he hasn't liked a single movie. Not one. Nada. Zip. Let's face it, Pais is a movie critic who doesn't like movies, and for good reason. He rarely knows what the flip he's talking about. I rate his reviewing style 1 star out of 5 - and that's being generous.

Yeah, I'm completely siding with you here, although a few movies, like that horridly long "Australia", he did get right. I usually like every movie I see, I guess this guy's the complete opposite of me. Movies are for enjoyment, he needs to show some good sides to the movies he watches rather than the bad sides. I really did like this movie though, had some good catchy songs, I was singing them for the whole 4-5 weeks or so we had this movie at the theater I work at.

What this guy is missing is that this is fun. That Stellan, Pierce and some of the others are singing is part of the comedy! Meryl taking on her songs like they werre shakespeare makes it so great! It is refreshing to see a 50 + woman surrounded by young guys, the beauty of the Agian sea adds so much. I loved seeing Brosnan and the other oldies dance and sing. As a swede; the dish towels are indeed from Svenskt tenn, super expensive art fabrics. I love this movie and the jokes.
