  • I have a 1996 328i with which is my baby...266,500 on the clock. Original engine and manual tranny. Have kept up with preventive maintenance and care since I've bought it two years ago. According to Carfax it was a leased vehicle and serviced at the dealership until 2002. Since I've owned it I have driven from Atlanta to Los Angeles 5 times, a 2200 mile drive. It has never failed me once. I'm optimistic it will reach 400k and beyond. Long live the E36s!

  • To much smoke, you need to refill oil?

  • Does it burn oil? what is the compression on each cylinder?

  • Damn! Did you get like a new engine or something? Didn't know cars can have that much mileage on it and still run, that's insane!

  • @dtran123450 nah no new engine yet, got one sitting waiting for a swap but the engine from the vid now has 430,000 miles

  • Just FYI "beemer" is a motorcycle, "bimmer" is a car. ;)

Pretty nice, almost 400k miles. I had two E30s with 280k and a E34 with 235k before I sold them. Still running very well. Currently have a 93 E32 740iL in mint condition with only 130k miles.

  • i have a 200,000 mile 318 tds, dunno if it'll do 400 as it wasnt always taken care of the best before me, but these cars are capable of huge mileage when looked after

  • thats awesome dude, i got a bimmer myself expecting alot of life out of it. any tips on maintenance?

  • i have the 325is mine is at 300,000 miles lol.

  • @punkyjunkykid @ around 375k miles, plan on your rear differential exploding on a highway somewhere, FYI lol

mine is at 377k but its just fine. .. i think.

  • who are we kidding, it probably wasnt mine lol, nice try tho, go NJ

  • what do you mean go to NJ? i fucking live there.

  • man... i want your car.

  • damn thats a shit load of mileage in the odometer O.o i thought cars would die by that time lol

  • i think that 93 models don't have vanos but i'm not sure

  • yeah mine definitely has vanos system, but i think ur on the right point, earlier bmw dont have it.

  • @evanellakb ehhh well the whole point about cars is learnin new things so anyway..whats a vanos system?

  • @BXNYCOBMX - Im droppin knowledge lol

The name Vanos is derived from the German term "variable Nockenwellensteuerung", meaning variable camshaft control. The double-Vanos system continuously adjusts the camshaft positions for both the intake and the exhaust valves. This results in significantly higher torque at low engine speeds and more power at higher engine speeds. Single Vanos came out in 92, double vanos came out in 98

  • @evanellakb whoa...thanks dude i would have never known. i also asked cuz the same model you have they are sellin it a few blocks away from me and when i get the money im going to make it my project car. ah man thanks for tellin me this ima SMOKE this teacher i had who has an rx7 wit an ls-1 in it at englishtown.

  • i dont understand why he would take a car designed for a rotary engine and put a corvette block in it.... i doubt youd beat him with anything less than a turbo or s.charger in an e36

  • @evanellakb i noe thats wat im about to do. throw in everything i can in time to race him. but he told us why he did that but i forgot. but still u gotta remember rotary has much more friction than a regular piston block. rotary is much more sensitive to overheating thats another reason why he did it. he did say that his rx7 is running much better than when he had rotary plus ive seen a few of his races so he was smart to do it. ima ask him if he has them on youtube and ill give u the link.

  • how many times did you change the vanos and piston rings???

  • haha crazy u asked......zero

  • Ha Ha you don't have to on bmw's as long as you keep up with the oil changes they last for ever.

  • I was and am planning on getting one.

  • you definitely should, theres nothing like german engineering, u just have to be a good owner

  • Everyday Coincidence: I saw one yesterday, and now you replied to me about it. Of course, this is something telling me to get one. On top of that, my mum's plates start with BMW.

  • close to four hundred thousand miles still sounds gorgeous
