why would you want to try to convert thorium into uranium? Just use the thorium in a Liquid fluoride thorium reactor. There better in almost every way.

We Indians should stop thinking about nuclear energy because nuclear reactors are very dangerous and no one in the world knows how to dispose the radioactive waste. It is time for renewable energy. All western countries are now moving to renewable energy but we Indians are still living in 1980’s.

@deepakcheriyan We actually know how to dispose of Spent Nuclear Fuel ("nuclear waste"). The whole benefit of a FBR is to eliminate Spent Nuclear Fuel. That and to create surplus plutonium for other FBR and Plutonium Nuclear weapons.

I find the suggestion that the US would try and get ther hands on some indian fast breeder technology amusing to say the least. Remember americas has been doing research into FBR since 1951 and decied to discontinue its research becasue it does not have to worry about an amply supply of uranium. If India was so cutting edge it wouldnt rely on countrys such as Russia and canada to design and build its current reactors and have to look towards france to build its next generation reactors(EPR).

@fstratzero with increase in the number of Nucelar Reactors being operated, the totla man hours of experiance operating them also correspondingly increases. With increase in experience, you are in a position to evaluate your shortcomings & corrective measures could be taken to address them, thereby *reducing chances of failure*. You are more likely to fall off a bike the first time you ride it rather than the 35th time :)
