Un-be-lie-va-ble that this ended 23rd, with 4 points from Austria (thanks, guys =D). Compared to this year's entry (Sieneke - Sha-La-La-whatever).. Well.. They can't really be compared at all; this is soooo much better. I didn't care much for Waar Is De Zon in 1994, but hearing it again has convinced me of its strength. I'd be SO gutted if we had another quality entry like this which didn't make it to the final.

@FarOutJohn Nou dat weet ik zeker van niet ;) Ze moeten gewoon namelijk geen balaades naar het ESC sturen, het is algemeen bekend dat dat heel slecht loopt. Boven dien is willeke alberti Qua hits grooter geworden dan Sugar Lee Hooper en marc marie bij elkaar. Marc Marie staat er niet echt bekend omdat ie zing, en Sugar lee heeft ook maar 1 echte hit. Willeke had er een hele boel: ''Samen zijn'',''telkens weer'',''Ome Jan,''Reisje langs de Rijn,''Oh Carolientje, en ga zo maar door...Groetjes ;)

er gaan genoeg goede liedjes naar het songfestival, zoals deze, maar tegenwoordig gaat het meer om de show erom heen dan de stem en het liedje zelf. Hoe meer vuurwerk en hoe meer dansers hoe meer kans je tegenwoordig hebt als eerste te eindigen.

Zie je wel: alle engelstaligen hier vinden het nu nog een geweldig lied. Het is ook bijna het volkslied van alle homoos geworden, alleen het songfestival kreeg telefoonstemmen in plaats van deskundige landenjieries. Eerst waren toen de turken in het voordeel omdat die overal woonden en overal fanatiek meestemden toen kwamen alle slavische landen erbij: geen verstand van muziek, maar wel allemaal op mekaar stemmen.

This was the last time Holland entered a song in Dutch. We are just too small a country to play a part in voting. Back in the days of professional juries we had a chance on musical merit of songs. Where are the days of Abba en Celine Dion, when europe agreed on the winning number? Televoting and too many slavic countries voting for each other, turks voting en-masse in every country they live in, may make the organisers alot of money but kills the songfestival in the long run!

Toen ik dit nummer in 1994 hoorde vond ik het helemaal niks. Zoals iemand voor mij ookal zei, moet je het een aantal keren horen om de schoonheid te ontdekken. Ik vind het nu een prachtig lied, ook de tekst is mooi, ontroerend.

For me this a song I return to when I feel a need for comfort and hope. It may well be the best song ever written and sung in the Dutch language.

It takes me back to 1964, when I bought Willeke Alberti's first golden record (Spiegelbeeld - "Mirror Image") for my mom on Mother's Day.

Idols or celebrities can be your idealized boyfriend or girlfriend, of even your perfect daughter-in-law. It has taken me a few decades to realize that for me Willeke is actually the older sister I never had.

This was my favourite then. It isn't my fave today, but remains second best. I don't understand what might have ut the juries off, as this is just so stunning and of classic quality. Should at least be rewarded with top 10 status.

That year did have a lot of ballads, that's true - with some notable exceptions like Germany and France just to name two. But nearly all were very powerful songs. Maybe when one thinks of a city, one thinks of dance music. :P
