  • I love these names.

    "Tower of the Seer". Beautiful.

  • @HotaruZoku Notice how the Tower of the Seer looks an awful lot like the John Hancock center and not the Sears Tower???

  • @tharock220 It is the John Hancock Center! I consider this a gaffe either in the writing or design/planning if either side (American or Japanese) didn't know for sure what building they were using.

  • @tharock220 ....I'll be.

    Translation error?

  • wow this was awesome back in the day. but i bet they did a lot of blow on the set.

  • As I rewatch these, I'm struck at how well written this is. The acting might ham it a few times, but it's over all delivered quite well, and more so, Captain Power himself is at least -written- as one hell of a good leader. Think about the last time you thought an AI leader was going to do anything but get his ship blown out from under him in the first 3 minutes of a mission.

I'm not that big on following, but I'd give the Capatin a try.

Maybe I just need the flight lead.

  • Ditto with JustJus. The music was a huge part of. Japanese score. Something about the way they make music is like nothing else, and oozes emotion.

The graphical style was also a huge component. From the explosions that scream "Satisfying kill" to the incredible complex cockpits, there's just an obvius high production value that shows and shows hard.

  • Gold.

  • LoL at the Star Wars sounds!

  • JAPANESE ANIME AT ITS BEST. ALL HAND DRAWN. screw the implementation of the 3d b.s.

    ALL HAND DRAWN BABY.

  • had all 3 videos and both XT-7 and Phantom Striker

  • This could've been a full animated series!! And have an alternate take on the show with Pilot surviving through the series!!!

  • The Captain Power VHS Game worked like this...I KNOW THIS BECAUSE I HAD THE VHS GAME. The Captain Power VHS came with a grey/whitish spaceship/airplane that was shaped like a gun. It had a trigger and a "special weapons" button. From what I recall as a kid, the red and white flashes/enemy fire on screen would react to the 2 red hit zones on your hand held airplane. Press the trigger on your plane and youd shoot the red/white targets on your tv screen...FROM THE SMOKEWAGUN

  • I so wish Mattel would come out with some sort of 25th Anniversary set for this series. It could be like one of the jets a figure and a DVD with all three skill levels on it. I'd drop thirty bucks or so for that.

  • God this was an awesome video. I really wish we could see something like this reborn and made into something like a Star fox style rail shooter. it would be perfect. Hell, they could remake the training videos as major level in the game cut together with others of there own design. I would love it

  • I remember getting this for Christmas when I was 8! I freaked out so bad when I saw it. This toy was awesome because you could play co-op with your friends or even shoot at other Captain Power toys.

  • Love the sound effects they borrowed from Star Wars of the speeder bike chases from Endor. They've been used by SO many other entities.

  • Wow.I haven't seen this in over 20 years.

  • I had this video! when i was 9 years old. lol i got it at a Zayre department store back in 1987 along with the Powerjet XT-7and Lord Dread's Interlocker Throne. along with Captain Power, and Lord Dread action figures that you could sit in the powerjet, and Interlocker throne, for Christmas. Great memories. Great toys for a good show. Thanks so much Bagss000! and i'm still in love with Jessica Steen (Jennifer "Pilot" Chase).

  • Interlockers got a future in the real military........somewhere..........someday ! and if its automatic ! i'd hate to be a pilot up against something like that !

  • "Pilot 1, Take out as many skyscrapers as possible" This must be used as a terrorist training video!

  • I remember that tunnel scene at the beginning always made the handheld XT-7 register a hit like you've been shot. Pissed me off. >/

  • 5:38 The Sears Tower, nooo!

  • @Mikemc Really the John Hancock Center but I guess most people won't know that.

  • haha wow! This is like the C&C cutscenes :D

  • Man, this was the ONLY training tape I didn't have (every store in my area that carried CP merchandise at the time always seem to not have this particular one for some reason). Thank God somebody had the good sense to upload it!

    >;-)

  • I recently purchased 2 ships and some videos off of ebay and my girlfriend was like wtf. I have yet to find a vcr to play it in.

  • lol at 5:25 random speeder bike sound effect from return of the jedi.

  • the music on this was sick. That's really theb est thing about all these 80's. Oh and the sentry's were by far the best thing on these shows.

  • The Tower of the Seer? Sears Tower! That's what happens after the apocalypse, things get new names;P

  • Gawds, I haven't seen this in YEARS!

  • i want to play this XD

  • man...way to go bin laden...go and blow up the sears tower.

i really liked these tapes back in the day...

and they are still kind of entertaining!

  • I has all 3 tapes and coming home from boring church at 10am every Sunday as a kid was the greatest ever because that's when Captian Power was on!!

  • Damnit, they blew up Sears' Tower!

  • That said, though, This was the one episode of the videos I never saw as a kid. Thanks for bringing them back.

  • ahhh the good ole days!! i remember having this very own tape! congrats on the upload mate!

  • Too bad the the torrent of the show doesn't have the Hz for the toys to work.

  • This was WAAAYYY AHEAD OF IT'S TIME! Forget playing the game I just enjoyed siting there feeling like I was flying as a kid.

  • If it's orange, shoot it. If it's yellow, it's shooting you.... what I don't get is why sometimes the orange walls and buildings turn yellow? Are they shooting at me? BTW, this was my favorite of the 3 training tapes when I was a kid.

  • Hmm ... I'm guessing its the idea you're flying close and slamming into them?

Maybe you shooting them is the idea that you're doing evasive action or something.

  • Yeah, I'm with you. I always took it to mean you couldn't barrel in without turning away at the last second.

  • you have a toy with a light sensor on it, like a light gun from nintendo. red lights give points, yellow lights lose points.

  • AWESOME! i love Captain Power, i grew up with this show :D But just out of curiosity, how did the vhs game work? I mean, how could ppl interact with a video tape? Please tell me, those who have played it :D Cheers :D:D

  • There's commercials on youtube here that show you how to play them. There just funny to watch! I wonder if it would work on with youtube?

  • I doubt it. It seems the flashing interface signal has been dulled by the compression.

However, if I still had my Powerjet XT-7, I'd put it to the test. :p

  • Thank you for the reply! I ll go and check em out now :D:D

    Cheers!

I miss my childhood years, shows like Captain Power made me sooo excited and happy!!!! Another oldie but goldie show was Street Hawk, if u haven't seen it before, search it on Utube NOW! :) The intro music is amazing, AND if you do a Google search, you can download music from the series from free :D weeee)

  • @panagiop It worked bascally the smae as the tv show. No real interaction but they might say something like "Take out those Interlockers on that ridge." And you'd see the ridge and you'd shoot it with your ship.

  • @panagiop These worked with almost all of the toys that required batteries like the ship and/or the stand that flashes. The stand that flashes worked great!

  • @panagiop You'd buy a Powerjet, interlocker or phantom jet toy and play it like time crisis. aim for the flashing red targets, dodge the green/yellow flashes. "Check your power points" is when you hit a button on the back and the toy would tone out your number of hit points. Run out and the toy would buzz, eject your pilot and then shut off for a short time.

  • @panagiop could play with the normal episodes too

  • @panagiop You had to purchase the XT-7 Power jet or a Phantom Striker...and on the tapes you would aim the laser generator (Engine) at the tv at flashing red targets..and you would score points...if you shot flashing yellow targets, your points would go down..and if your point counter went to 0...the action figure in the cockpit would be ejected!!! LOLOL..This stuff was TRULY the FIRST FPS!!!!!

  • Respond to this video... This was the first FPS or a prelude to the Ace Combat series...but the animation was truly awsome with an awsome soundtrack!!!! It was like a prelude to THUNDER FORCE!!!!! LONG LIVE CAPTAIN POWER!!!

  • @panagiop hey, it was really quite simple, you had a gun that looked like the ship you were flying with a trigger (think duckhunt for the NES) and an two IR sensors built in. you would turn the ship (gun) on at the beginning of the VHS when Captain power would say "power on". You shoot at everything in red to earn points and move your ship to avoid the yellow enemy fire. your gun recorded how many sucessful hits you made, and If you took to many hits, your guns pilot would be ejected.

  • Man I've missed this music... I wore my tape out just playing it over and over again! I especially love the end music when we escape...

  • awesome.....love it.... thanks for posting this, havent seen this in years....

  • These are the coolest friggin things EVER!

  • I played this over and over as a kid.

  • Glad everyone is enjoying these. Hope to make a short animation like this for my final project. If you guys could list the things that make this a great video.

  • @Baggs000

    1) Sauron

    2) Sauron

    3) Sauron

    4) ...eh...I guess Sauron
