@Bloodtoker lol o yea dude and he does anotehr right after - he also does the cymbal hit but the epic point version - to where he hits but points at it at the same time - u know that dude is feelin that drum beat - its savage..
@ireternalexistence Yeah for beginner drummers...All of his drum parts can be played by an intermediate player. He's so damn overrated it's not even funny. I could play in this band and learn all the drum parts in a day. His playing is not complicated at all really..pretty casual double bass metal, nothing technical about it. Not trying to be arrogant and rip this dude up, but it's so fucking true.
@coldfusionwi I've played in several metal bands, Invidiosus to name one but not in one right now. I have some video's from years back on my channel that show I am more than capable of playing his tunes. I like lamb of god and Chris Alder, but damn overrated. He is a solid player, but I just don't see him playing anything besides metal.
@iDrum628 Not only does he use small crashes, but his snare is also pretty small. He does a lot of fast fills, so he needs drums and cymbals that have a sharp bite and quick attack.
That wizzardly beard is what keeps him going...... In fact he holds a drumstick with it and actually plays ghost notes with it... pretty weird huh? O_o
so here's what I think, there are painters who painted better than Picasso but I like looking at Picasso's paintings more....there are drummers who are technically speaking better drummers than Adler but I just have to watch him because there's something he does that is just more captivating
Iv never heard him even mention the fact he is left handed, clearly is does not even faze him unlike some people I know who use that at every time they dont get a part down well.
@WayneWiblin He mentioned so in the modern drummer 2005 festival during an interview (disk 3)...He also stated that his good foot is his left and he had to work on his right....!!
@WayneWiblin He mentioned so in the modern drummer 2005 festival during an interview (disk 3)...He also stated that his good foot is his left and he had to work on his right....!!
i could only wish millions of views for Chris!... somehow people are missing his videos. May be the top view in the Video cover could attract some... Hats off Chris!
the thing that is so impressive about drummers like chris, is that they make it look like they have all the time in the world whie playing, even thought it's a fast song, incredibly talented men.
@quikstang2 Oh ok. Any info on any exercises he does to practice day to day and/or how much time he puts in, etc.? Sorry for all the questions man, thanks again!
@NewYorkJets99 He might have mentioned a little about that. I don't remember, and I didn't record the speaking bits. A guy on a drum forum (centerstagem) I'm on did record some speaking bits. His YouTube name is: radicaldrumz
@6EELZE6U6666 I think that was the joke man. Obviously its common knowledge there are only 24 hours in a day...I guess that makes you not only a dumb cunt but also quick to judge haha just sayin
@NewYorkJets99 When he was in Washington, I asked him that question. He said anywhere from an hour to six hours. He did not talk much about the exercises though.
@rdesrosiers1313 Oh ok. Thank you! I have seen some videos since that comment and he mentioned he was putting in a lot of time when he felt that he could not keep up and was not good enough for LoG, which is obviously not true lol. Probably just self-criticism. How was the experience of meeting him? I would love to be able to talk to him, he seems so nice and down-to-earth. Thanks again! \m/
@NewYorkJets99 Chris is a really nice guy. He will do almost anything for his fans. Hell, I asked him to sign my arm so I could get it tattooed over. He was really cool with it. He called me a crazy bastard. XD I met him at Donn Bennet Drum Studio. He was doing his clinic tour. It was a very inspirational experience. If he does another clinic tour I would highly recommend going.
@rdesrosiers1313 That's awesome! I figured he is a really nice guy. He seems very realistic about everything and very personable. That is awesome that you are going to get that tattoo as well! I want to see the clinic but the closest they came to me was Long Island I believe and the timing was not good, so I was not able to make it. Anyway, thanks for the information!
@NewYorkJets99 A lot of drummers recomend practicing with your feet whatever you do with your hands (doubles, paradiddles, flams, etc.). I'm not great, but it helped me accoplish the little I do on drums...
@Baktor Yes, I have heard that as well. It seems very difficult but would definitely pay off in the end. Just a matter of sitting down and taking the time to go through all of it. Thanks for the reply!
@quikstang2 Serious answer, sorry it's taken a while, had intended to tell you the next day, but anyway, I think the only real different thing about his technique compared to other drummers is that he uses longer foot pedals (guitarist, not a drummer, excuse my lack of knowledge for names), and he uses his toes and heels together on either pedal to get the stranger rhythms you hear. The whole 'playing 72 hours a day' thing helps too though, so I'm told.
@Garfield4317 It's ok, no problem at all. And yeah he used to use Axis pedals but switched to Trick pedals not too long ago. He also is naturally lefty but is almost ambidextrous in a way behind the kit through a lot of practice so that will change how he plays some things. And haha yeah you just have to practice, practice, and practice some more to become better. I have learned a lot. Thanks for the response! Have a good one.
@NewYorkJets99 I'd say a good rule of thumb, if you wanna be good at anything. Prepare to practice A LOT. Youtube Search for excersices/Learn to play LOG Songs. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. I'm gonna go do that right now.
@MrSmashKab My bad man, I thought you meant a specific video when I read it quick. I have watched videos in the past over and over again and will continue to as time moves on. A lot can be learned through this, as well as a lot of practice, obviously. Check out his 2005 Modern Drummer video and download it on iTunes. I think it's like $6 or $7 or something like that, but worth it. The video never gets old to me lol. Anyway, thanks again! Take care!
@NewYorkJets99 Oh yeah, I saw that like when it came out. I was huge into LOG at one point. I have a cover of Pariah that's not half bad you should check that out ;)
@MrSmashKab Yeah it never really gets old to me lol. I have been getting into them more lately. I believe that they would not be the same band without Adler though. He really knows how to find the groove well, and he makes it interesting! I love it!
