  • 1st video with no DIY!

  • How much weight can the pulleys safely take... ?

  • @thetruebrit85 i don't know...i put 60 lbs on mune for at least a year...but i weight about 150..... soaking wet...lol

  • Even with the covers on,there is a space to allow the wheels slide a bit left and right,as u just put the covers back on to check,so if that bothers u,get some 10mm washers

  • Just realised,if you do take off the covers to put a bar through, don't forget to add some washers, maybe 2 each side,or 4 or 5 on one side.otherwise the seat will slide a little left and right, you'll see what I mean, just look at the wheels

  • Shit,it slides a little left and right on the top of the seat too, annoying, gotta add more washers without taking the seat off so i know it fits tighter and less rocking

  • @MrPaddydan just added a few extra washers to the bottom wheels,no sliding left or right now,on mine, the top of the glideboard, wheels face out,but designed to face in at the bottom, dunno why as it causes a minor swaying

  • My slideboard tends to slide slightly to the left or right sometimes, its bit annoying,is that normal?...I wish it was more secure,im afraid the board could come off one day and ill get hurt maybe I will put a large washer on one side of the wheels to stop that movement

  • I've just gotten an older TG & will try this modification. But what're some good lower body exercises to use w/ it? The company videos all seem to have extra accessories needed to work your ads & legs.

  • @Along1000m there is an easier way!! A really smart dude on here told me to just take off the covers plates at the bottom then just slide the bar thru....no holes to bore!

  • @Along1000m thanks for the compliment, take off the cover plates top or bottom.if you have big 20kg weights, they will only drag on the floor if u try use the bottom hole...also there are many ab excercises on tg on yt .gud luck,ps.I am an irish engineering on the doal, lifes a bitch

  • @Along1000m hook in your feet,do upwards sit ups, hold a weight if u want to your chest, flip around ,lie face down, feet secured to the pull up bar,and raise your head and upper body up,good for lower back, also hold a 5kg weight if u need extra sweat

  • as for extending the incline,it was dangerous,u would slide off the seat if it was too steep and without support on the other side,it could topple over,I just bolted a length of box iron with more holes for higher levels but took it apart after seeing the reasons.it was almost vertical at one point,I wouldn't be surprised if the newest model steals my ideas hehe

  • @MrPaddydan that sounds cool....for a while I had the back of mine sitting

on a cinder block...made a big difference. I have another one that is a cheap model. Its called "ultra glide xl" its a little smaller than the TG but its a good machine too.I use it every morning...or the TG.

.there a dude that has a video thats good on YT..type "blasting the muscles on the total gym"...you should check it out.

  • I decided not to record mine,ah,same as yours but i removed both top and bottom seat covers to put a bar in either hole or both depending on how much weight u can add.

  • Nice video!

  • I just put my irion bar through the box iron bar rather than drilling it and bolting it in place, why didnt you do this? it's more handy because it can come out easy, also i made my total gym xli higher by putting a length of box iron so that it extends higher up.according to the booklet, even at the highest level,id only be lifting 20 kg,thats rubbish, on all the ads it says can use 60% body weight, but im 80kg

  • @MrPaddydan I never took the cover off to see that! I just went out on the porch and looked.. you are right....I willl have to do an update video now thanks!! i subbed you!

  • @london1817...no probs.I have the xli because I'm Irish and bought it a few weeks ago for 70 euro.I didn't like the way the wing allows movement but maybe its ok.sturdy enough.

  • @MrPaddydan ....also,that cover is only for show,no use so dont worry about taking it off.if you don't mind,I might make a video to show the changes I made to my total gym

  • @MrPaddydan oh I don't mind at all....we could attach it to this video...You tube is perfect for this kind of stuff .... people can make things & learn & everyone loves that ...thanks for saying something! :) I would like to see the other changes you made so I can do it...Thanks again!

  • @london1817 ok,ill have it ready Tuesday.waiting to collect my iron bar.it cost me only 5 euro but needed to be sandblasted, ill try attach my vid to yours Tuesday then, see u then.

  • @MrPaddydan sounds great! Thanks!

  • nice, thanks for the pipe !

  • @laituanhoang thanks!

  • what kind of pipe do you use and where to get it?

  • @163whodat I used 1/2 riged pipe ...you can get it at any hard ware store...all you need is about 2 feet of it. couple dollars 2-3. :)

  • absolute genius

    thank you

  • @cubamexico5567 haha...works great...you gotta try it!

  • this is perfect. i have exactly the same one you have. great idea.

  • @TheSamsoniteman Hope you get huge bro! lol

  • Thanks dude , i was thinking of a broom stick just enough to put a few weights but your idea was way better.

  • @BeatnBounce Hey a broom stick would work. its all the same bro! Thanks for the comment!

  • great this i was looking for long time... thanks dude...

  • @lcd1972 Your welcome! This is really easy to do to.

  • if u take of the pully that is attached to the board, and use the pulley handles it gets twice as hard to push. trust me. try it

  • @NDSS2013 I don't get it...make a video if you don't care and send it to me. sounds good! Thanks for the comment!

  • @london1817 there are three pulleys right, pull out the one that is attached to the board, and then do and exercise with the pulley cables, like a bench press or a flye.

  • @NDSS2013 I would have never thought of that! would be a killer ab exercise!

  • @bigmike4150 Its really easy...and I almost got rid of mine and bought a newer one before I

    did this.

  • Is the pipe hollow?

  • @Soopafly0205 Yes. Its just 1/2" ridged pipe.

  • @london1817

I have a Total Gym 1100. It looks like your total gym stops higher on the rail than mine. I only have about 5 1/4 in clearance. Is this the same as yours?

  • @Soopafly0205 Mine is the 1500. Its the same thing just different handles I think.

  • your XLS should do fine with 100 lbs I think.

  • Good Video, I have the XLS model and I was wondering if it was possible to add 50 lbs. of weight onto it if I get the metal bar attachment to do so. Can the weight bar hold that much?

  • what did u use to drill it ?

  • @queenzlink247 Just a cordless drill with a drill bit in it .

  • @fashionfreak916 Well thank you kindly my friend!

  • or you could wear a weight vest

  • @weathered79 You could do that. Right on!

  • I Your ideal what you have done , I Total Gym 1100 , I Thank You Vary much , Tony R. from Riverside California

  • @mistatony1000 You are welcome....I am from escondido myself... Thanks for the comment!

  • @mistatony1000 This is a very good idea, but wouldn't it be too much weight for the machine to handle?

  • @MrArod187 Well I weight 165lbs and I put 40 lbs on it most the time. I don't think you want to put to much on it not because of the weight on the cables but the angle you body is in. Better to do regular old school bench on your joints.

  • fantastic idea

  • @kingojugo Thanks! I like your channel!! Thanks for doing that! LOL. Thanks for the comment. have a nice day. Rick.

  • @london1817 your very welcome

  • my dad buys every brand new model of total gym, never touches them, gives them to me six months later, i sell the old one and within a year he's buying another one to give me, been doing this cycle since they came out. Im pretty big these days from the ritual

  • @beautifuldisasternee Haha. Its a great machine! You should keep one for you.

  • PUSSY REAL MEN USE STEROIDS.....

  • @mikeenglebirg Thats a good idea!

  • This is Great thanks for the video. I have an old 1100 model and was tying weights onto the board where I lay to add weights. Thanks again.

  • @ThePoet1974 Good ! It works really well . Adding just like 40lbs. makes a huge difference. I think the TG has the best bench press...better than weights & bettter than Boflex...I just get better muscle contractions on it .

  • I'm using my parents total gym which they bought back in the mid 90's. I had the best arm workout the other day. I purchased a weight bar and new wheels for it a few years back.

  • @cunterkooter That's good! I like using the TG for b. presses & the tricep exercises are awesome. Have you seen the workout book that comes with it? There are tons of good exercises in there. I tried the boflex but I still like the total gym better. .... and free weights.

  • you are a smart, creative guy....your parents did a good job raising you....thank you for sharing this with us.

  • @tealeh2 Hey thanks!! That is the nicest thing anybody has ever said to me. Thanks for the comment !!!!!!

  • My "Body Former" has 3 built in resistance bands on the bottom of the glide board.Sometimes i use all 3 and other times i dont use any of them. Also, sometimes,i put my tricep barbell on top of the two posts where you're head rests which normally have the foam pads on them.Sometimes i'll add upwards of 70 lbs with that method.

  • Ha,ha, The good news is you could get a cheap one and fix it to have weights... I seen one at the pawn shop for $40.

  • Wish I had seen this video before I got rid of mine. I had it set at the highest setting and it wasnt enough weight for me. This was a really cool idea. Now I want one again LOL :) Dang you Rick LOL :)

  • Chuck Norris approves of this video!

  • I better be careful Chuck only takes

    blood baths!! haha

  • i other thing, when my kids came along i trained them for tendon strength.muscles lock up after exsertion but tendons are still going strong. pound for pound tendon will crush a strong man. low weight lot of reps. then when you get old you wont look like me.

  • I never heard that before. I will keep that in mind.... thanks.

  • i never had anything that fancy, a broom stick and concret blooks. my dad had a big stack of them and everday i had to move them from one side of the yard to the other. did it work you may ask? at 16 i dead lifted 600 pounds, on the squate rack there isnt enough weight . the one i was useing had 1200 #s so i did 10 or so reps. at a time. it was fun then, now that im older it causes a lot of pain.

    have a good day

  • @MrWildkat are broom sticks in america made of iron? because the ones here in ireland are made of wood and they would hold about 20 kg which is only 44lbs...before they eventually snap and either get wood in the face or weights on your toes...

  • I guess I would need to add a couple a hundred pounds to mine. But really, it looks fine just sittin in the corner like it is.

  • Har, har, Brake that thing out and use it man.

  • kewl mod 5*

  • Hey thanks....I am a jack leg when it comes to riggin up stuff. Haven't heard from ya in a while how's things going for you? Rick.

  • its 50 /50 a week ago my warrents caught up to me but now its all good just court dates

  • I hate to hear that. I hope court goes good for you.

I have had a couple problems in the past like that but now things are smooth. Keep positive bro.
