ma maw and da has been here n ma da asked where wis olly sittin when he croaked it. and he replyed the seat your sittin on. a thought it wiz quite funny...... but he probably hits aw the punters wi the same story. well played to the guy lol
went to The Pub a couple of months after he died to drink the big man off. The owners then had no idea who he was or why we wanted to get totally slaughtered drunk where someone had died.
Anyway I nearly died also falling off the bar from dancing. 16 hour session and what I considered a fitting send off to one of the worlds greatest actors, hellraisers and bon viveur.
Thanks for posting! - Happy memories of my own pilgrimage..and yes I raised a couple of glasses to the great man while I was there - every true fan of Ollie's try and do the same...cheers!
i was told once oliver reed was bard from his own pub by his manager has anyone else ever heard that or is it just another mith feeding the legend of oli
The Gut in Valletta Malta, my Dad used to go down there drinkin when in the Navy, idea was to start at one end and see if you were still standing at the other, approx 20 bars on same road! Pint and shot in each one!
Dave....it's Kev from Kev and Cathy experience...What a drink that afternoon. Did ya get a bollocking when you got back to your hotel???? Me and Cathy were text chatting about that day and I went online on goggle to try and remember what the great man supped the day he died in 'that' chair. Low and behold I saw me you and cathy on a youtube fucking clip. Brilliant mate! well done. Me and Cath are not together anymore but we remember Malta and especially that afternoon I am on facebook. b intouch
OMG!!! Hahaha!! Ey up mate! I only just saw this comment! I wondered if you'd ever find this video!
Haha, yup, I got a bollocking... That girlfriend is long gone now anyway, my best memories of that holiday are of being in The Pub getting drunk with you! Lol...
Cheers for posting, I spent about two hours last year walking around Valleta looking for THE PUB, such a great place for a drink, i wanted one of the ollie reed T-shirts but they had non left.
Yeah, they Pete Doherty is an arsehole with no class. No laughs there. Not like Messrs Burton, Reed, Harris and O'Toole. Now that would be a night to remember
Long time before. It was actually 1977/1978. Bit of a blur now. I was a big fan of Oliver Reed. Great actor and a supreme party animal. He's the reason I became a career drinker. I once drank paraffin for a bet and lived to tell the tale
Ha ha... He'd have been proud of you! Would have probably matched you drink for drink on it too! Hopefully he'll be there waiting for us with a pint when we finally get The Big Call.
I'd like to think he's up there now as drunk as a monkey chasing all the lady angels and, well, raising a little Hell. He'd match anyone drink for drink and carry on when all around him had long passed out.
Malta is in the mediterranean, just south of Sicily,so from the states you will need to get a plane to the U.K first,a travel agent will be able to help as we've been getting more visitors from the U.S.A recently, hope thats of some help,The Pub is in the capital of Malta which is Valletta and its on a side road to the grandmasters Palace on Archbishop str.
Wear a pair of Union Jack shorts and ask where the pub is. The Maltese people are English friendly. Just don't act like the drunken arseholes that give us English a bad name. Be polite(as you Americans are ) but not overly and someone will show you the way

I always wanted to go drinking with Mr Reed.
No decent drinkers in the public eye, that flaunt it anymore.

Nah... Just tossers like Pete Doherty! Reed would have been great to get pissed with!
