@metalfish25 no this is original fishing.....i dont see how you can take anything away from a guy who catches the same exact fish yet works 3 times as hard to get it....i would love to go do something like this....and who says he released it....how do you know he didnt eat it?
All you fucking Assclowns, I live in peterborough Ontario, and if this guy has a BANDCARD he can spearfish allday everyday so SHUT THE FUCK UP this guy has talent, but i would like to see you pull up a big 14-15 pound Northern Pike that easy hehehehe, The pike might take a few of your fingers before you get it up, but again nice shot dude....
Nice breath hold man, and awesome video. The only problem is you made it look too easy. People dont realize how hard it is to hold your breath for 2 minutes in freezing cold water waiting for fish to come. I can catch more walleye hook and line than spearfishing. All you haters should just try it if you think its so easy. You will get skunked!
This is stupid and illegal! i cant believe any human beings would ever do something so cruel to the walleye. But what can you expect from filthy free loading americans?
@mattpitt7 Lol actually most Americans release their fish... The only fish I've seen being killed (with a bow) were asian carp. Its people down south that do more fish killing... Up north most people catch photo and release.
@mattpitt7 You would rather trash the banks with rednecks and worm containers, soda cans, cigarette and chew containers, beer cans, millions of miles of fishing line and thousands of tons of lead
Regular bank fisherman have done more to screw things up than an army of these guys ever could.
If this is indeed illegal then it should be turned into a legal sport.
Try getting all that gear together and go swimming in 50 degree water with 4 ft visibility to try and get a Walleye.
mama, just killed a fish. put a spear up in its head.pulled the trigger nows its dead.mama life had just begun and now ive gone and thrown the fish away.
where is this quebec? cause i know its illegal to spear walleye in Ontario. I thought it was illegal in quebec to but i could be wrong? I dunno just wondering i always thought spear fishing would be fun.
He was disgusting. I rarely shoot walleyes over 3-4 pounds, for many reasons, including the taste. This one was particularly horrible (what's common from fish from that spot.
When I was in the Navy I used to spear fish quite a bit. You must have differant laws where you are because they won't lest us shoot a Walleye here. Pretty cool video, you have pretty good lungs.
, while spearfishing you put yourself in the fishes teritory anything can happen rather than sitting on you fat ass on a boat with you line and bear just waiting
Yea its harder to shoot fish than to Use a line mate , I've been fishing for 11 years and I quit 4 years ago to spearfish , Spearfishing is more fair since you only shoot fish wich are a good size to eat , it depends or Experience and skill and practice to shoot fish , But you obviously have never done it and think like any normal person "hey a gun underwater is the same as one above" its not its just not
Nice fish, that looks like so much fun but I have such weak lungs I would have to practice a ton before I could go half as long as you and also i would have a hard time finding a lake with great enough visibility, i would think.
i agree with obewan777, Jimpark09 is a idoit. That was pretty awsome, and the fact that you held you breath instead of using a tank makes it much more impressive.
This was pretty sweet. One suggestion, quit being a douchebag. Why the hell would anybody know anything about this? Don't get all pissed off when people think they can do what you do, you know they can't.
Wow, I'm so impressed. You're a very good freediver. "fine swimming" Holding your breath, going down to sometimes 90 feet in dirty, rough waters is something called "just fine swimming"... If you don't know what you're talking about...

Yeah, it takes so much skill swimming up to a lethargic COLDFRONT influenced walleye that have been known to lay dorment during high barometric pressure systems. Then it takes even more skill pulling the trigger on a fish that is 12 feet away. I have had fish swim within inches of me also while out snorkling. It takes hell of alot more skill to find what walleyes are actually feeding on. Ask any real walleye angler who knows walleyes....I can shoot the broad side of a barn also....
I think this quote from your profile shows that your opinion is all that matters so there is no changing your opinion.
"It is my job as a viking to erase scum and they are scum....."
You say walleye are tough to catch? I think they are easy to catch! Have you every tried to catch a river carpsucker? Or a Bigmouth Buffalo? Probably not on purpose! I personally have never speared. If it is utilized and not wasted then what difference does it make speared or caught by angling.
The reason people chase walleyes is their challenging nature. Sure, anyone can pull up to a dam during spring or fall and catch dinks with a few legals but, have you hunted down and effectively caught 10+ pounders on a regular basis? Or fished walleyes on a clear lake during the day with bluebird skys or a coldfront? If you say walleyes are easy to catch and you are talking true pigs then you are the man. It is not opinion at all, fishing takes more skill then spearing any day of the week...
This looks harder to do than fishing with a rod and reel since he has no oxygen and the visibility is poor. Stop hating on this guy walleye don't have a slot limit and just because somebody catches a fish with rod and reel doesn't mean they will return it.
We almost never shoot big walleyes. This is one of the very few I've shot. We see a lot of them though, but shoot small size for eating (and we don't shoot a lot of fish, we watch than anything.) By the way, I freed a sturgeon stuck with a hook in his mouth, and the line entangled on the bottom today...filmed! (not the first time it happens) and I've foung a dead cormoran entangled in fishing lines, 2 feet over the bottom... but we've found 300$ in brand new Rapalas!!!
Okay, dude calls ME a Redneck and he's taking Large walleye with a speargun. Bullshit that a good percentage of catch and release fish don't live. I've been fishing all my life and thats a load of crap. If you know how to handle fish, and take hooks out properly, it is not a problem. And second of all this fish is in the spawning range. To me that looks like about a 28 inch walleye. Those aren't very good to eat so what is this fool going to do with it? mount it? (with a huge hole in it!!!!?!?!)
some of the things i'm hearing is some of stupidest things i've ever heard. this is a much more humane way of fishing especially for eating. a good percentage of catch and release fish don't actually live through the experience. sure they swim away but many time end up belly up. also, big fish like this actually aren't the best spawners. fish in the 20-27" range are the best spawning fish. i've never done this and would love to try it sometime.
Anyone with harpoon training and a scuba suit could do this. But it takes real skill to land trophy walleyes consistantly.I am not trying to be a jerk but,I find it very unsportsman like to harpoon a walleye. You can't release that fish that took 8+ years to grow, or breed. If that is how you fish I hope you learn to select the fish you are going to kill better. Maybe a 15-18 incher for the dinner table.I am a huge fans of walleyes myself.I select harvest my catch.Anything over 21 goes back...
I agree... this is disgusting. is this even legal? I, along with many others would probably like to know where you live brownh20hunter.... Might just come to your environment and harpoon you. jk, but in all seriousness this makes me sick to my stomach.
Why dont you walleye fish like a real man and use a spinning rod, jig, jerkbait, crankbait, lindy rig, and actually get the fish to eat. You eat walleyes that size? That is pretty disgusting. I always thought big walleyes should be breeders and 15-20 inchers are eaters.....
In all honesty and respect i don't think harpooning sport fish is unsportsmanlike, go shoot some carp please help keep their numbers down but don't shoot a nice big walleye, bass, pike, or trout or if you do not a breeding sized one. It isn't legal if this is in the US I don't know about Canada but i doubt it legal there.

Thanks, we can't catch and release, but what we do is release and catch. We don't shoot a fish we don't want, and it's very rare that we shoot big walleyes like this. We see a lot though.
Waths bad with it is that you can choose the bigest walleye, the one that every fisherman wish to hook. for you its so easy, why dont you take some small 3 pounder fishn one huge fish.
i m of the opinion that this is a better way of taking fish than by a rod. this way you know what your taking, its a clean kill, and there is no waste from non targeted species. Oh and i cant hold my breath as long as you can. 1 30 pulled me up.
It is legal in many states and most provinces in Canada ( with a specific license)
I will bring the batter, lets eat!

Spear fishing is for the ocean and not freshwater.
The fish are too small in freshwater compared to the ocean.

"harpooning" a large walleye***
webbulator28 3 years ago

WOW, a redneck that knows internet!

Nice to know... Does it mean I'm not a real man? Shit, I'm gay. I didn't know that before, thanks.
brownh2ohunter 3 years ago
In all honesty and respect i don't think harpooning sport fish is unsportsmanlike, go shoot some carp please help keep their numbers down but don't shoot a nice big walleye, bass, pike, or trout or if you do not a breeding sized one. It isn't legal if this is in the US I don't know about Canada but i doubt it legal there.

Thanks, we can't catch and release, but what we do is release and catch. We don't shoot a fish we don't want, and it's very rare that we shoot big walleyes like this. We see a lot though.

Yaaaa, catch the fish with a hook. What you are doing is illegial in most places, anyway.
BIGSKYHAL50 3 years ago
Waths bad with it is that you can choose the bigest walleye, the one that every fisherman wish to hook. for you its so easy, why dont you take some small 3 pounder fishn one huge fish.
pifgo 3 years ago
i m of the opinion that this is a better way of taking fish than by a rod. this way you know what your taking, its a clean kill, and there is no waste from non targeted species. Oh and i cant hold my breath as long as you can. 1 30 pulled me up.
